Probably cause its a feature they just haven't really implemented yet, would be my guess. They put it in the system but just haven't set up the market side of it yet.

it didnt work on stock 1.5 either so probably right that it hasnt been implimented yet
I honestly think its the roms not being official builds...I had the battery widget on stock 1.5, when I wasnt rooted
It worked on DamageControl 1.1 BETA 6
Get more widgets worked on DamageControl 1.1 BETA 6 so it is implemented. I'm not sure what DamageControl did to get it to work. There were 4 widgets.

I'm pretty sure that is just supposed to point you to the extra HTC widgets that are already available in the market. The only useful one IMO is the battery so we aren't missing much at this time.

I'm running 1.1 beta 6 and it works even worse for me than it ever has. It used to at least try for awhile before giving me the error message, but now it's instantaneous.
I wonder if it has anything to do with trying this from home where I'm on roaming data..... (and in this specific area, there's a very good chance that I'm not roaming on one of the "big boys". It's quite possibly US Cellular, as they're the ONLY carrier that has solid coverage in this town.)

Ok This is by no means my work, I'm just promoting the mod of another developer.
ctso came out with a working launcher2.apk yesterday. There's no 3D cube effect of course, but it's still smooth. I found it looking around the androidspin.com database

it works just like any regular apk. I just put it on my sd and installed it with astro
Before anyone whines, it does NOT work on OpenEclair 1.1.5 (I tried this morning), however there is talk of making this an incremental update for the next stable release

Works great in G1/KiNgxKxlicK AOSP 2.1 [v1.4], but it could be faster.
I just don´t like that the icons in the apps list are a little bit transparent..

Works fantastic in Klick 1.5, very speedy. "Cards" work well, swiping is pretty smooth most of the time, app launcher is a little laggy but easily livable. Great job!

I don't think so, as the launcher 2 relies on the 2.1 api's and frameworks (eclair should I say)

And I was more or less saying, it MIGHT be able to be done, but you won't know until you try it. I'm sure it could not be done, but then again we thought we'd have to wait on HTC for camera drivers

Dude, its a 2.1 ROM for a device thats supposed to only be working with 1.5 for now. Just be glad we have it working close to 100%.

What does (not) donating and liking Obama have to do with a ROM? Here is what I did. I took the base ROM, took out what I don't use, put in what I did use, and re-signed it to make my own custom ROM. The instructions are on this very forum. I suggest you try it.
I am not sure why this is not included in any of the 2.1 Roms it was in the leaked desire Rom that modaco ported to the nexus one.
I have already tried installing this to the Eris 2.1 and to the new Fresh 2.1 and it just FC's upon being started.
I am looking into why it does that but as of right now I have no idea.
I could be wrong on this but I am pretty sure that friendstream is part of the updated Sense that HTC is working on not an Android app. So this won't be out until we can get the new Sense working which I don't think anyone has had any luck with.

We have a version of the new sense already. Modaco ported the Desire Rom to the Nexus one that has working FriendStream and NewsReader
I am not sure what is causing them not to work as of yet.
my guess is that this is the reason why the "get more HTC widgets" thing doesn't work. maybe the friendstream and news widgets can be downloaded once they get the support for verizon customers ready.
is there a way to replace my 1.5 lockscreen with the eclair version? i mean without the need for a 3rd party lock app? i see it can be done in 2.1 but i wasn't sure about a 1.5 build?

I'm not sure you can. I know some ROMS come with it but besides having lockbot I don't think you can do it without having 2.1.

I remember this coming up a few months ago, and I thought the 2.1 lockscreen on 1.5 was a no go...
What's the deal you drop 2.1 to get back to 1.5?
it's possible, but i doubt anyone is willing to backport the apk to 1.5 especially with 2.1 dropping within a few weeks. The nexus one news and weather widget was backported for example, but i dont think people are willing to put in all this effort with 2.1 around the corner.

stock android lockscreens are not apk.s they are in the codes you can run the stock donut lockscreen when on donut roms or enclair lockscreens when on enclair

and the reason i don't like lockme or lockbot is ...it's an app that doesn't fully let your phone sleep which drains the battery more.

mine slept fine with it installed but it laged to much for me to keep so i went back to custom locksceens from NOJ (for 1.5 roms)

kind of. for me it was too laggy for a replacement. i'd press menu and have to wait for lockbot to bring up the lockscreen. it was counterproductive for just a nicer looking screen.

exactly why i just uninstalled it after 48 hours of use...
also, its not treated like a regular lockscreen and my handscent messages were popping up over it even though i have the setting to only show after the lockscreen is removed which works perfectly again after uninstall... nice concept, but not refined enough for me...

+1 to everything above. Also it doesn't allow the adjustment of media volume when the screen is off.
is there a white aosp taskbar theme out there for a 1.5 rom based off of 1.5c or pancake?

Dude seriously, no one in their right mind should be running 1.5 anymore. The simple answer will be no. There is and will never be a white taskbar with 1.5. Reason being, all the files are odexed.

Until Toast releases his .29 kernel and Freshtoast gets bugs worked out I'm sticking with Overclocked Gumbo. It just freaking works. It's fast, stable and other than the market being ugly I don't see many dealbreaking differences.

2.1 is a beta and not final...1.5 is a final and rock solid. think about your statement.
personally im thinking bout going back to 1.5 myself.. 2.1 in all forms atm still has bugs..its kinda getting like flashing wm roms..lol since 2.1 is still beta that is.. with 1.5 everything works and its fast.. even co-pilot works..( still cant get it to work on 2.1 roms.) so really to me the only thing on 2.1 worth keeping is google nav. and the better market.. so fixxxer
get on the 1.5 rom.. make it no-sense oc'd and apps2sd and u will be my hero..lol

So, bjballar41, uhh in regard to Sense and to the Market/Play question, is your Girlfriends phone rooted?
If the phone is not rooted, she might want to check for software/firmware updates. Sounds like she is still running froyo, android 2.2.
Uh, ROM version aside, there's a d/l for the play store.apk. Google it. I did that way back, b/c I was still on market 2.5 (I think)

But is the play store an improvement? I recently went back to a nandroid of the ROM I found most stable. I have the old market back and am loving it compared to the more recent veal they have foisted upon the unsuspecting masses. Yes, it may be a good idea to have the apk, but I won't install it unless my market stops working. My 2 cents.

As it is stock ATT never updated the Inspire to anything past 2.3 with the older sense. It didn't even get the Sense 3.0 update HTC pushed out. This is the reason foe not having the lock screen. Unless you root it and flash a custom from it won't happen. The market maybe OS version dependet

I don't know about better. It looks like the 3.x series of Market. I will say that the 2.x Market I had had started having random times where it wouldn't connect.
