So, after playing with 2.1 some more... it doesn't seem like calendar alerts act the same as they did in 1.5.
When I would have a reminder trigger, the screen would turn on and I would get a popup, even when the phone was asleep and locked, allowing me to dismiss the alert. Now, with 2.1, the reminder will go off, but the phone remains screen off and locked... unlocking the phone, I am presented with the "Event Details" screen for the specific event (with controls to edit it, etc.)... I then have to drop the notification bar, click on the alert... then the proper box loads that allows me to 'Dismiss All'.
Is there a workaround for this? I went into the calendar settings, and there's three settings for the reminders, under "Set Alerts & Notifications": Notification bar, Alert, and None... none seem to have any effect, so either an unwanted change in 2.1 or I wonder if it may be an issue with the ROM I am running? (ZenHero 2.1)
all 2.1 roms r like that... im running MatrixRom and its the same but what exactly r u wanting to do? an easier way to dismiss events?
I was afraid of that... damnit Google
I would like to be presented with the event reminder screen that allows me to dismiss the event, rather than having to go through four screens to make it stop beeping/blinking... especially when I am (usually) driving. Doesn't make sense why they would do it that way...
Are we certain that it's a 2.1 thing, or could it be a fault in the RUU all the recent ROMs are based on that has largely been overlooked?
I really think that "Alerts & Notifications" setting should have an effect on the alert displayed...
If not, how can we get the old alert style back? I especially miss it lighting up the screen and immediately showing the reminder... If it's not a ROM fix, are there any apps out there that can do it?
try the calendar snooze app.
it (optional) wakes and unlock's the phone..with options to snooze for ... period of time or dismiss with one click..
grtx , arnold
I have been running Gbhil's "Option 3" 2.1 ROM from Android Central, and the calendar alerts behave like this. I get an alert that wakes the phone up, and has "Drag down to dismiss" on the lock screen along with a "Snooze" button. When you drag it down, it shows the event with no need to dismiss it.
I recently switched to DamagaControl, and just tested the calendar alerts. It works the same way. I don't have to go into the notification bar and click "Dismiss All" like you're describing, though I have seen that happen when I ignore the alert.

Since no matter what I set the reminder type to, and how it still acts the same, yeah, I am guessing it is an issue with Zen's 2.1 ROM. Though, I have done enough to the ROM and, other than this, not much for issues, so I do not want to have to start over again with another ROM.

And that, gave me back the functionality I have been missing so much - Thanks!
[SOLVED]
Here's a weird problem. I am NOT using the stock alarm system in Android, I am instead using the Kaloer clock application. I have all of the alarms off and deleted from the stock application, but the icon is still showing at the top. Does Kaloer clock enable the stock alarm icon? It has it's own built in icon so I wouldn't think so, but I'm wondering if I can get it turned off since I'm not using the stock alarm application.
[Solution:]
In the newest update of Kaloer clock, there is now an option to turn off the stock alarm icon as well as the Kaloer icon.
Thanks!
was wondering the samething?
I use Alarm Clock Plus & there's an option in settings to hide the alarm icon. You could try that, but I don't know how to do it with the app you use.
Turned off
The weird part is I have it turned off in the Kaloer clock app too. But I still get the icon at the top. If I reboot the phone, the icon goes away until the next time I run the Kaloer clock app. So I know it's linked to that app and not a general glitch. There's just no other way for me to turn it off and I find it kind of irritating since I'm anal retentive and don't want excess icons at the top of my screen.
Hey guys--
I've noticed an issue with the stock clock app since upgrading to KK. It adds a notification 2 hours before any alarm with the option to disable it, which is fine but unnecessary and it makes my status bar very sloppy since there's 2 alarm icons at that point. I'd rather just disable it.
I've researched and supposedly there's a setting in the clock app to disable it if you go to settings from the alarm screen. That doesn't seem to be the case in my version. Does anyone know if Moto removed that from their skin?
Any other ideas how to resolve this?
One idea I saw was to disable the clock app's permission for making a notification. Tried that, and the second icon did indeed still gone, obviously. But the alarm didn't work right. It sounded, but the screen didn't go on and the phone didn't vibrate. When I woke it up manually, the sound kept going off, but the only way to dismiss the alarm was to launch the app and turn the slider to off because no alarm screen ever appeared.
Any other ideas how to more successfully disable that notification?
Thanks!
Hey guys!
I have a problem with my Moto G 4G full stock (not unblocked, no custom rom). When I set my alarm for the morning with the stock clock app, it works but when the alarm starts it's impossible for me to stop it whith a swipe or whatever. When the alarm is ringing, I unlock the screen and I don't see anything! I have to unlock my phone, type the securoty code and go to stop it.
I don't know why my phone do that now... maybe it's an update or something else...
How can I resolve this issue? I want to unlock my alarm quickly, with the screen wake up when it's ringing and stop the alarm on the lock screen, without to wake up all my family.
Thank you all :good:

The built in alarm clock in Marshmallow is working fine for me. However one function has been disappeared.
I often snooze the alarm, and then want to dismiss it before the end of the snooze period.
Example: Get alarm or snooze display at 10 o'clock. Choose snooze, so alarm will go off again at 10:10. But at 10:05 I decide I don't want the alarm any more and want to switch the snoozing off and dismiss the alarm.
In previous version of Android, this was easy. Whenever phone was snoozing, there would be a notification in the notification pull down screen that I could just tap, and that switched off the snooze and dismissed that alarm.
In Marshmallow this has disappeared. There is a workaround by going into clock settings, switching the alarm off and then switching it on again so it would work the next day. But this is very clumsy.
Does anyone know how to get the notification back so it works as before?
Solved
After hours of changing app settings, and system settings, I finally tracked this problem down to Clean Master. There's a setting for battery optimization in Clean Master which had been switched on and which I switched off, and the snoozed alarm showed up in Notifications as it always had before.
Warning: I had never used Clean Master although it had always been on my phone as I downloaded it early on. Something changed this setting, it wasn't me and it was not using Clean Master.
I have noticed that changing certain settings can populate other apps with changed settings. No way of telling this has happened or which apps. I would say this is a major drawback with Android. Or downloadable Apps.
