Hello,
Today bought HTC touch Viva. My 2nd Windows mobile after Asus P320.
I am not able to find switch to landscape mode option while using phone like in Asus P320.
Where can I get that option? Some times I want to use it in landscape mode.
Regards,
Amey.

As of now I am using Kai's Screen rotator but loking for inbuilt rotator.
Any help? How can I copy that rotator thing from Asus P320 windows folder to Viva and put that on desktop of Viva?
Regards,
Amey.
What I used to do with my original Touch (vogue) was assign the long press camera button to screen rotation. Not entirely familliar with the Viva but that may work for you.

How to do that?
Viva has standard square button, 2 small buttons & volume up/down key at left hand side.
To take picture in my Viva I use that square button.
How can I configure that button to switch my handset in land scape mode?
Thanks for quick reply.
Regards,
Amey.

Ever since I've had my SDA, I've wondered how cool it would be if I was able to rotate PIE so that I could use the wide part of the screen to render pages. Looking at squished pages lengthwise looks very uncool. I'd rather have nicely rendered wide pages (with more scrolling required) than squished pages.
Does anyone know if this is possible. In the old days when I played with Opera, I thought it was possible to rotate the screen. But that's a fuzzy memory I can't bet on.

Thanks for the link. I guess I was looking for a way to just rotate the app, and not the whole phone screen.
Does anyone know if this is possible to do with Opera?
What do you mean rotate the app, and not the whole phone screen? Does it makes any difference?
Since WM6 supports screen rotation, we already got it working on Tornado using Vox driver, except for the fact that there is problem with screen rotation and the joystick orientation.

What I mean is that if I exit out of PIE, I want my phone to look "normal" and not in landscape mode. What I want is what Media Player or TCMP does when you do a "full screen." It rotates the display so you're seeing it in widescreen mode, instead of portrait.
I don't think that this is possible to do with opera or ie. The only way to go is to rotate the whole phone screen.

This is what I do, I downloaded AE Button Plus and Tornado Display Manager. I set to Vox DLL using TDM, then using AE Button Plus, I configured to hold right soft key to rotate screen, so after that I just have to hold the right button to rotate the screen, no need to go through TDM, hassle free
Files maywe..?
Karhoe, and all others..
Happy to hear that, you guys could bring this all down to one long keypress, configured via AEBPlus.. I had a look on the posted material here, and it looks pretty confusing. Karhoe, and others, if you couls just post the needed files, with a simple readme, in a single zip file, would be much obliged...
Thanks bud, for all your work..
Sometimes I like using the virtual keyboard instead of the hardware keyboard but would prefer to use it in landscape mode. Is it possible to have the virtual keyboard up in landscape mode without having to open the slider? I tried GSen but that didn't work and reading about Gyrator it seems causes more problems than it cures.
Basically I would like to start a new text message (or e-mail) turn the phone and have it switch to landscape.
Second, does the hardware keyboard have a 'punch through'? On my old T-Mobile Dash (WM 6.1) I could hold down a button and have the symbol pop up on screen instead of the letter - saves me from having to hit the "function" key. This works on the TP in virtual mode but not with the hardware keyboard, can this be enabled? Right now holding down the button merely makes the letter repeat like on a laptop.

I personally use Gyrator2, I do exactly what you are wanting to do. If you set it up correctly it really is a usefull app.
Second question, No clue.
gyrator 2 works great once you tell it what programs not to work in
it does exactly what you want in texts
You can also "move" your keyboard around the screen with this hack:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\SIP and change the value of Dragstyle from 0 to 1, followed by a soft reset.
You can grab it and move it anywhere on the screen you like after.

i saw that hack but is it in anyway useful ? or just amusing
Thanks for the replies. I just installed Gyrator2 and it does indeed do what I'm asking for! I think I need to get a little deeper into it though as it does some things I wasn't expecting (switch the calling screen to landscape after taking a call etc.) but so far, so good!
Hi all! Just a question, can I assign the device lock function found in the today screen to a hardware button? I'm referring to the device lock function that comes with the default windows mobile which we can choose to make it appear at the today screen. It's one of the plugin in the today screen.
i remember using this app called ae button plus. check out this link:
http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php
the app essentially expands the coverage and functionality of the hardware buttons. if you'll go through the list of functions, it can lock your device but it's only for wm5. i haven't tried this with wm6...though i'm not sure if an updated version has been released. i used this before when my athena was still in its original wm5 rom. but after upgrading to wm6.5, never found the use for it. secondly, didn't really use the app given that my athena, when closed, had the keyboard protecting the screen from accidental touches.
you could also try hbutton:
http://hbutton.dyndns.org/
haven't used it myself but i do know it can assign auto-screen rotation. not sure if the drop-down menu (when installed) will have screen lock on it. but essentially it works like ae button plus. and the 2 best parts of it: it works on wm6 and is freeware =)
hope that helps
Thanks! I will check it out.
Who can help me how to Today & Start menu can automatically rotate! thanks. i tried with uzeb Sense2.5_Landscape_V2 but not done. Sorry for my english
check 'TD2 tools'. on WM 6.5 with manila 2.1 it's working.
Manila 2.5 does not and will not support landscape. You need to use 2.1 for that.

Hello All,
This is my first post and I don't know if I out of the line for asking this, or am I violating any rules.
I been looking and searching in the HD2 form here in XDA-developers since I got my HD2 about 2 month now. There is one thing I don't quite understand: how the full landscape works for home screen.
I seen post that said the theme have to support the landscape mode, but is there anyway to adjust the phone to make all themes runs in landscape mode?
If there is what program I need and what I need to do?
If possible please let me know.
Thank you all in advance.
i'm not sure if this compatibility is built into the energy rom i have flashed to or if it is available on all stock roms...try this and let me know what you get. press start(or windows button) /settings/personal/buttons...choose the long press hold option for the send key and choose rotate screen option from the list of choices. you can manually press and hold the send key when you want a landscape view of your app or theme... also if you search bsb tweaks this app is able to configure auto rotation of apps via the g-sensor... hope this was of some help.
Or take a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=637671
23/2 -10 TX_Total_Landscape.cab -does what the name says, total landscape means also startmenu
Install this and try it.
Great let me try to mess around with it.
or what you can do is just get the bsb tweak, go to the rotation section -- select the options to rotate and head to the home screen and shake the phone. bsbtweak will recognize what you want to rotate and then restart the phone.
there you go... rotated home screen.
i tried all that, but it only display left half of the screen. does the theme i use have to support landscape mode for it to work?
