Question about root.

Hey sorry if this is in the wrong section but i couldn't decide what section would be most appropriate. I am new to rooting and have only had my rooted G1 for about 2 months. I am looking to get a new android phone and I would like to know what T-mobile or ATT (if it can be unlocked for use on T-mobile) android phone has alot of roms to flash like the G1 (I love being able to change the feeling of my phone every few days) and with better hardware than the G1.
I was thinking of waiting for the MyTouch Slide but not sure if it would be worth the wait.
The Nexus One has a great ROM community and in my opinion the best ROMs out there. I use Cyanogen's ROM as my primary ROM.
As well as a great ROM community, the Nexus One can be purchased unlocked from the factory for use on T-Mobile or AT&T 3G.

Stuck between phones

I'm currently trying to decide if I should get the X10 or the Magic+.
The X10 does have a bigger screen but I hear its laggy. The Magic is rootable but the X10 soon will be able to get rooted. Argh so hard to make a decision.
Thanks
Personally I'd wait for the Iphone 4G but if you prefer Android (and I currently have an Android phone), I'd get an HTC Evo 4G.
X10 came out after a long time of developing being already old as it hit the market. It came out with Android 1.5 when almost every new phone had 2.1.
This is only a firmware issue but I think it's going to affect also the love of the developers for it, so I would't get it as a first choice.
I only have a choice between those two phones..
what's magic+? new htc magic w/slide?
first magic was entry level, this one is nothing really better so I'd go with X10.
expecially if it's a gift

[Q] I may be looking for a windows mobile that can boot android well

first of all, I didn't know where to put this, maybe it should have gone in the windows mobile forums?
I'm generally a dedicated android user, and now it's time for me to get a new phone.
I'm on at&t so my first choice was the captivate, otherwise I might go for an unlocked tmobile phone.
but then I realized that people have been getting their winmo phones to boot android.
it's be really cool to have both os, even on my pc I dualboot Windows7 and Ubuntu
do any of them do this well?
If I were to get a winmo phone based on it's ability to boot android which one would you suggest? or should I stick to a all-android handset?
note: the phone has to be GSM
A Winmo phone is not going to run android as well as a native android phone. Android ports always have issues... battery life isn't as good, certain features or hardware don't work, etc. If you're gonna use android full-time, i'd stick with an android phone. If you really want to run both on the same device then the HD2 is your best bet. It runs android very well for a non-android phone. But if you're going to stay on AT&T you will want to get the expensive austrailian 9193 HD2 if you want to have 3g. That will set you back $800. You can get the T-Mobile US version and unlock it, but you won't get 3g speeds on at&t.
I wouldn't bother getting a new Windows Mobile phone at the moment, as much as I have been a loyal WM user. WM6 is outdated, and a lame duck with Windows Phone 7 coming in October, with support from software developers dropping. If you are really curious about WM, you might wait until October and see if MS's big promises pay off, and if they can really compete with Apple and Android.
If I had to get a new phone right now, I'd get an Android. As already mentioned, a phone running an Android port is never going to work as well as a phone which runs Android natively. Its a good way to experience Android, and get some new life out of your phone, if you already own a WM device (and the hard work of the developers is greatly appreciated). But I wouldn't consider it a true "dual boot" situation.
Thanks for the info, I guess I'll probably get a stock android.

[Q] upgrade advice

Hi folks not been around for a while. ive been away from the sharp end of wm for a while and am looking to upgrade my mobile soon
I run my own company (very Small) and need to invoice Create and email) on the go and being able to print via bt would be good as would have decent on device storage aswell as expandable sotrage
currently im using an iphone 3gs but want to get back to wm as i feel its more flexable
i use my devices for navigation, chat as i work away from home all week so the question would wp7 work for me or would be better going for somthing with 6.5 or is android a better option
Hey, so welcome back then
Man, thats a subjective question and one that ALOT of people are asking.
Tricky, because if your using an older wm device but want the speed and goodies of a newer one, what do you do? Wait for wp7 or steam straight in and get an HD2 or later Droid device?
I had exactly this choice to make 2 months ago. I was telling myself to hold out until Christmas and get a wp7, but i couldnt wait that long
I bit the bullett and got myself an HD2. Why you ask?
THe new stock roms (HTC stock 3.14 available for only the past few weeks) are fast and with the newer radio means i can run android from my microsd (8gb class 6) without the need for hardpsl (just in warranty and its a work device). So i have the best of both worlds with wm6.5 and android.
And who knows for the future, perhaps we will get wp7 running on the hd2 afterall?
Which ever way you go, whether thats a hd2, droid such as desire hd for example you wont be disappointed. (you prob know this but you cant run winmo on a droid device, hence the reason for my choice )
Good luck!
tell about it went iphone to see what it was like and feel im locked in to it dont get me wrong its good device for my needs but lacks something that i cant put my finger on. for me mainly bluetooth printing as this is something i really do need on a regular basis we cant upgrade till january
from what ive seen wp7 does look good but as usual i think ms will totally miss the boat as usual
the mrs wants the desire so shes sorted
personally with the recent reports of LBS advertising being used in the back ground unknown to the user on android it does give me cold feet a little with the os

[Q] Best New/Upcoming phones for development

I want a new phone and will be getting one the next time T-Mobile has one of their "all phones free sales". I currently have the G2 and love it but want something with a FFC as well as good support for development like the G2 does. IE: I dont wanna buy a mytouch slide again thinking all the devs will get one ( and stick to it lol) So does anyone have any Ideas or links to websites that have upcoming T-mobile phone relaeses? Like I said I'm looking for the next phone that alot of Devs will be getting and sticking with as I love the support and ROMS/Kernals that are constantly coming out or at least being updated. Any Ideas?
