Activesync 4.5 synchronize but cannot transfer files (bluetooth) - General Questions and Answers

Hi, i need your help. Activesync (4.5) synchronize normally, but when i try to transfer a big file (180mb) the connection is lost. I tried with smaller files and i did not have prob. When i try to transfer the big file it copies 15 to 75 Mb, but the file alwawys corrupts. Has anyone else experienced this same prob? I would like to know if there is limit to transfer between bluetooth and mobile (WM6.1) or if i miss a setting.Thanx in advance

New to O2 Mini

Hi All,
I am new to the O2 Mini world and the Pocket PC.
I just received my O2 Mini today in the mail and really like it!
I just have a few questions:
1) In the instruction booklet it saids you can turn off the "PHONE" by pressing the off button more than 2 seconds. However I tried and couldn't. What is the way to actually shut of the phone?
2) SD Card. Just wondering in Pocket PC can you actually use the SD card as a HArddrive? ie. I want to install applications to the Pocket PC but as the Mini size is not that big I want to install the application to the SD card? IS it possible?
3) Is it possible to use Activesync via Bluetooth
4) As the O2 Mini does not have Wifi, is it possible to use the Bluetooth to connect back to my Laptop (Wifi Enabled) and then connect to the Internet??
5) What is Advantgo?
6) How does Pocket PC application work? DO you have to install on the laptop/desktop first and the use the Activesync function? Can you install straight away in the Pocket PC?
7) Is there a Chinese Charater reader/writer available for the O2Mini or I must reinstall the ROM with the Chinese O/S?
Many Thanks for your help!
1 click the signal icon choose fligthmode and it's off
2 yes but sd cards are very slow compared to internal ram so some applications act up if places on it, aslo a sd card have a limited nr of writes before it dies much like cd-rw media
3 yes
4 when your xda is connected to activesync on the laptop then it have acccess to the same network as the laptop have unless you limit it's access
5 some offline browsing pushing thingy you can read about it in help on your xda
6 cab file installs need to be sync'd to the xda and then run (installed)
some exe files are windows exe files and need to be run from the pc and then it autoinstall using activesync
some exe files are CE nativ files and need to be run on the pda
it really depend on the application

Thanks, jsut want to clarify:
1) so what the instruction booklet said is incorrect? I noted that the flight option works, but it will be good if you can just press the button to switch everything off.

Big file to SD card transfer fails

When trying to transfer a converted movie (AVI file) to watch on my upcoming flight abroad, after transferring for a while, the transfer stops, and the icon in the taskbar on my PC (XP Pro SP2, ActiveSync v4.2) claims that the connection has been disabled. When I looked at my Alpine, the unit had frozen and I have to sft reset it to recover operation. What would cause this? I transferred about 500MB worth of songs yesterday without problems.
Thanks
Karl
Try disabling Sync with WMP, then download the files manually. WMP tends to re-start the Sync process every little bit or so, interrupting transfer of large files. (This isn't an issue with large amounts of smaller files, such as all those songs you downloaded.)

bluetooth incompatible with other devices?

whenever i try to send some file from my other bluetooth devices like nokia 8861, nokia 6630, my laptop etc it always fails....does someone know the reason why?
How are you trying to send a file? Bluetooth transfer works fine for me from my laptop. I connected via bluetooth, moved the file I wanted to transfer to my Bluetooth Exchange Folder on my laptop, and used the Bluetooth Explorer on the phone to see it. Then I just copied and pasted into a My Documents folder on the phone and it transferred fine. Laptop did ask me if I wanted to allow File Transfer Protocol to the phone. I suppose you could also ActiveSync with Bluetooth, click Explore Device and drag and drop files. Ill try to send a file with my dads 8525 and see what happens.
-edit- I was able to send files between the TyTn II and the 8525 no problem.
i am still not able to transfer data from nokia mobile to my tytn ii.... is there some way to find som debug info...al i can see is the error..."sending failed"

It is NOT a bug. Go to your bluetooth settings. Go to the FTP tab and make sure that Enable File Sharing is checked. Then you will be able to recieve files via bluetooth.
thanks a lot man....now its working....i thought that function is for sharing the files but not file transfer.
I have your problem too.

Quickest Way to Wirelessly Transfer Files to my PPC from my Desktop?

Hi all,
I'm looking for the quickest way to wirelessly transfer files to my Pocket PC from my Desktop, without using ActiveSync.
Is it via BT Explorer? I have used this before but wonder if there is another way before I buy a BT dongle for my desktop. If there is an application out there that perhaps does it over WiFi, I'd like to try that. I'm willing to pay for it if it's a decent app.
How does everyone typically transfer files without having to connect to USB and fire up ActiveSync?
i just select the file on vista, right click on mouse and select "send to -> bluetooth device"
Cool, thanks for the reply. I use XP but it looks like it has this feature as well.
Depends what you mean by quickest. If you mean just click on file and send to other device, then bluetooth is the "quickest" once you have established the partnerships. If you mean how fast the file(s) get transferred to the other device, then WiFi will do it faster, but you need to map network drives, setup sharing, permissions, firewalls, etc. You would also need a program that allows mapped network drives, like Resco. Personally, I use bluetooth all the time to transfer files to/from my phone. I use Wifi only when I need to transfer music or pictures or large files. Hope this helps.

Slow wifi speed @ copying files

Hey guys, so I wanted to copy files from my PC to wildfire using wifi connection and WebSharing App.Seems cool, but the transfer speed is like on windows 98 from computer made like 20 years ago...
Can anyone tell me why the speed is so slow? I've figured out that if i have wifi, I would just transfer files to my phone even if i don't know where excatly it is and I wouldn't have to worry about cables and stuff.
