Hi everyone!
I am new to this forum and a complete noob to smartphones.. I bought a HTC touch diamond few months ago but the contract didn't have any airtime on the GPRS.. So funny enough I am looking for ways to disable the internet so when I accidentally knock the browser button, I don't get charged...
Very appreciate if anyone could help
app is called "NoData"

Thanks! So there are no ways to just tweak around the phone settings to disable internet?
Never investigated it further than NoData

Hello,
I am new to the site and I have just purchased myself an o2 orbit. I am really happy with it but also very keen to understand how I can enhance its performance or tweak it.
Will their be a section for this phone?
Sorry if I am being impatient but I am raring to go.
Has anyone else got this phone yet? if so what have you done with it? Also where can I buy accessories for it?
I look forward to your responses.
Steve

Orbit and TomTom
Hi
i am very new to this thread, so hello and i thank you in advance for any help people are willing to offer.
I am going to be picking my Orbit up tomorrow from my local O2 store. I was wondering if anyone can confirm that TomTom is definately included with the UK models. I have seen on a couple of forums that some people are saying it isn't.
I think your phone is in the Artemis forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=316

Hi all,
I have never owned an XDA but thought I would put a post about the Orbit that I purchased 2 days ago.
It is an excellent piece of kit .. By default it does not come with TomTom (I was offered CoPilot with a £40 contract but I already had TomTom so I declined. I have put TomTom on the device and it works brilliant .. it seems much more accurate than my palm version (probably more accurate GPS device inside).
I used TomTom for an hour today and my battery went down 2%! Brilliant.
Everything is good about the device .. the only gripe I have is that the microphone socket is mini usb (but I am sure there is a convertor out there for that).
The radio is good too (this also seems to have a minimal drain on the battery).

did you make your phone look like a iphone
because i want to do it
Tmo wing to look like iphone
To get the iphone interface go to www.handango.com and look for a program called winterface. Winterface makes your wing just like an iphone also they have a bundle pack 4 programs in on sign up for the emails and wait for the coupons otherwise its about $40 for the bundle pack
Hi guys/gals,
I'm going to be getting a work mobile in a few weeks on the O2 network in the UK. I was thinking of a blackberry but then saw the XDA's (HTC). I don't really need a PDA but its a works phone and having excel would make my job a lot easier as I don't have a laptop but need some access to excel in the warehouse, as well as outlook and messenger when I'm out on site.
Now the 2 that's I'm looking at are the XDA Stellar (http://www.my-xda.com/devices/xda_stellar.jsp) and Orbit 2 (http://www.my-xda.com/devices/xda_orbit2.jsp). The problem is that they are just re-branded on the O2 network and I cant figure out which are the related HTC phones. So could someone tell me which are which so i can do some more research.
I have been reading review and seems the Stellar is a better PDA/phone as its got the slide out KB. But typical O2, i cant really tell what are the differences as one pages says one thing and the other something else.
Does the stellar have a touch screen like the orbit, with the same funtionality?
Both do Wifi and GPS?
can i get tomtom software for the XDA?
whats the battery life like on both phones? (I have heard horror stories when using 3G or WiFi with a sub 4 hour battery life)
Can u 'image' the OS and stuff like u can on a PC to back up everything? (i ask because I do like to have a play and its nice to know u can get it back to factory settings again)
any helpful links u peeps might have to gimmi a help deciding? reviews, guides ect ?
Sorry for all the questions. I really like the look of them but have never had a chance to use one so I thought i would be best to ask soem people who know the in's and out's.
thanks for the help i hope to receive!!!
Peace
SN
ha haa..
no help but i sorted it out anyway. Stellar/TyTn II is the plan.
Hello,
I'm reading the forum for some months now and I have to thank everybody for the mass of information that can be found here.
My question:
At our company, we have about 70 people all using an HTC P4350 (Herald). A lot of those people like the HTC Touch interface (the HTC home plugin), problem: the Herald don't come with that plugin.
Do you guys thinks that it is legal to install the HTC Home plugin on the Herald?
Thanks for your responses.
The HTC Home Plugin is freeware.

Exactly, it's totally and completely legal, if HTC had minded this then they would have made it harder to get in the first place but they don't, in fact they probably appreciate people using their software on their phones.
OK, thanks for the clarification!
they dont as far as i know just let people dl it from their site havent read their EULA
but i would not call it freeware and any direct inquiries aimed directly at htc would prob get the response that it's not free
i would put in the category HTC dontcareWare
I have been reading over these forums for a few days and have came to the conclusion that I need help from more experienced people.
I currently have a blackjack II, it serves me well but i would like something I can "play with more". Plus for the life of me I cannot get tmobile working properly on it.
So here is my question out of the Tmobile phones which is currently the best of skype and messaging. Thats all I am concerned about and call quality. being able to mod it is a plus since I get bored very fast.
i was looking at the wing, I really like the tilt and know pretty well from reading how to sim unlock. But once again theres the stupid tmobile settings.
Sorry for the newbie question. i have used search and the phone selection database but also wanted a more opinion of actual users. BTW my price range is around $250 give or take.
Thanks to anyone that can help
The newbie xda girl
stupid t-moblie settings? I'm a tmoblie user and ive had no problems with the tilt, wizard, or wing.
I haven't had any issues setting up any other phone other then the Blackjack II. Sorry if I seemed incompetient in my posting of "stupid settings" But it can be rather frustrating.
