Hi!
I have a question about memory. Hmm. My Windows catalog is 234 Mb big. Is this normal? Or is it unusual big?
On the memory where Windows is installed I have 13-15mb of space left. So I have to clean Temp internet files from Opera every other day.
Is this normal, Why didn't they insert a bigger memory for windows?
Sometimes the phone hangs so I have to reboot.
Please replay me some answers.
grateful for help.

most of the windows dir is in rom not in storage
and it don't use your storage and can't be deleted
unless you make a rom from scratch and even
then removing stuff from the rom os don't give more storage

Hi there,
I have a MDA 2, 2.03a.64WWE 2005 ROM flashed with HIMA_DOC tool patched. Altough I did not install ANY programs on device, after some time storage memory shrunk back to 0.43 MB and device started to give that annoying low storage level warning . Anyone knows the reason for this and any opinions why did storage memory shrunk back to that level? Any ideas for solution?

Delete your browser cache and empty Outlook deleted items for a start.
This is really strange! by default, windows reset the memory level to 50% to storage & 50% to applications.
check the startup items, maybe there's a program or service running that causes all that shrinking..
clear up to 7 mb
Ok problem solved
I tought IE automatically empties the temporary files folder once in a while, but eventually it did not... 5 MB of junk deleted and back to normal life... Thanks for the advice...

Hi Guys,
I have a question..
How can i know what programs i should install to my stoarge memory, and which to install to my main memory? And whats the difference?
Im guessing that i would install important programs direct to main memory right? But because of limited space this can be tough. Heres a list of programs i use. Could someone please advise me which to install to Main memory and which to install to a storage card for max perfromance:
Skype
Netfront 3.3
Opera
Agile Messenger
MemMaid
Resco Explorer
TCPMP
Broken Sword (Game)
XCPU Scalar
Thanks for the help guys!
Which device do you have?
If it's a Windows Mobile 5 device, the performance between internal or memory card is minimal. If it's 2003se or older, then performance from memory will be far higher.
Rule of thumb for me is, what couldn't I do without if the memory card popped out and got lost. I put those apps internally.
Also something to consider (on a WM5 device) is that flash memory can only be written to a finite amout of times, so if you have an app that constantly rewrites data (such as NetFront with the cache) then I would stick that on a memory card. It's cheaper to replace a worn out card in 2 years than the whole device. Although I imagine most people on here replace their device within a year to 18 months anyway.

Last week I posted about memory storage v programme. After getting v confused about it i uninstalled some apps from the device and instead loaded them to memory card (was this right or wrong?). That left me with 12Mb of storage memory free, I figured that was fine and so left it at that.
This week my device reported critical memory space - storage memory down to 0.12Mb!!!
I have un installed several more apps which I like and use to get to 3.55Mb of storage memory available, but even this is dropping and I dont know why.
Q have I got a virus? How can I tell?
Q Can I tell what is taking up space in memory? If yes how? please dont direct me to the "find" large files as all it shows me is stuff on the storage card.
Q If I install programs to the storage card, do they still take up room in storage memory? If so what benefit do I get from installing to MC?
All help greatly appreciated
Pete
No such thing as a WM virus. Chances are a lot better IE cache ate it all. Try deleting cache files thru IE's menu.
You gain memory by installing to a memory card but if the card comes loose, pops out, you forget it, etc, you're suddenly without your apps. I don't install anything to the card and generally have no problem. You might want to do a search on how to put your IE cache onto the card, tho. That'll solve a lot more problems than installing apps there will.
Try TreeSize

This allows you to check the memory in use on your device.
there are a few known wm virus's but never heard about anybody getting one
think they were just made to show it could be don
the market of mw phones / pda's is much too small still for virus's to find their way to devices
Hi all, I'm not sure if it is already done, but when I open memory to see how much I spend and how much is still left I see that the phone splits memory for data use and memory for program use. is it possible to combine those to program use only? or does the pro does that automatic when program mem is full? because I bought a microsdhc cart and all my data is doing on that.
thanks in advanced!
You must be new to Windows Mobile. Windows Mobile devices has 2 types of memory, RAM and ROM. Since WM5, RAM is used to maintain running processes. ROM is used as storage (unlike pre WM5, where RAM is splitted between storage and running programs and ROM storage is hidden).
Touch Pro has 288MB RAM (about 200MB usable) and 512MB ROM (about 318MB usable). This is due to the amount of RAM used by OS (while running) and ROM used by OS (in storage).
When you insert your MicroSD card, you'll see a new folder in File Explorer. It's called Storage Card.
So, in simple statement, no, you can't combined the memory as they are different types of memory.
in other words, its like trying to combine your desktop PC RAM memory with DVD disk storage space.
lol okay I very much understand what your saying. I am new at wm idd. but hell no with computers I actually do a study Informatica but just didnt knew how wm was made or never really looked into it. I thought it was just like a harddisk on a pc were you install your programs & data like music. and it uses the RAM memory for running programs I installed on the harddisk. but never mind very much thnx for the explanation!

It isn't for your screen resolution. You should be able to uninstall it from the settings screen.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431103 . on that thread how are people getting this UI on their omnia's with a different resolution?
