I have read that the voice command feature to announce incoming calls doesn't work and sprint will be putting out a new rom to fix that. My question is, how will I know when Sprint does that? Where would I even look to find an updated rom? What I really want to do is have my phone announce the callers by name. My friend has a Samsung phone that and when people call her it says "call from Jane" or whatever name she has them stored under. When Sprint does fix the voice command thing, will it actually say the person's name or will it just say something like "incoming call" ? Is there anything else I can do or download to achieve this?

So someone calls me, and they get my voice mail where i ask them to please leave their name, number and subject... after im expecting the service to go into record mode but instead the automated voice operator gives the same set of instructions offering more options.... "if you would like to leave a numeric page, please press 1 or remain on the line to leave a message" ....
I never respond to unknown numbers. So that option is pointless imo and wastes time for others calling me. Sure, it sounds petty but I get annoyed when that comes up on me.
im on at&T any way to dissable that to just do voice message, and beep for recording?
Same happens on rogers network in BC...
"hi this is mr X, im not available at the moment please leave a message / operator: please leave a message after the tone" ....
it just restates the obvious.
like i said, its probably petty but... if anyone knows something i'd appreciate it.
There might be a #***#*** set to adjust this?
Same with number of rings before going to voicemail?
I'll be watching this topic as well..

this covers how to do amount of rings on an iphone:
http://iphoneguru.org/change-the-amount-of-rings-before-visual-voicemail-answers
im still interested in getting rid of the operator after voice mail.
The idea behind it is too have a caller spend more time on the call to make more money. This is set though your network so I doubt you can change this.

There are other voicemail services available, you just set your phone to forward calls to a different number. I'm not sure if youmail has the features you're looking for, but check it out anyways.
www.youmail.com
They notify you via text message and/or email when you get a voicemail, and even send the voice message in the email for you to listen to.
Does anyone know of any app that can blacklist say telemarketers and either answer a call and send a tri-tone telezap? In theory this is supposed to tell cold callers call systems to remove this number as it will play the three tones you hear commonly when you call a disconnected number. Those tones should trigger t hem to automatically remove.
Im hoping theres an app out there that can do this or forward a call automatically to something like google voice and let it handle it.
Anyone heard of any such thing?
Best thing out there is callfilter in the market. But it only blocks numbers that you want that u put in a list. I use it to ignore creditors. I don't know how helpful it can be to u. Bu that's the only one I can think of
thanks for the input
My last phone was a nokia 6210 Navigator. It had a setting that spoke the name of the person calling. I thought it was pretty good as I didnt need to look at my phone to see who was calling me. Is there anything like this for the HD2??

Hey I have got same problem, I tried MS Voice, but its no got, wasted my money.
Ive just tried Microsoft Voice Command 1.6. The voice is naff. All I want it to do is say the callers name, Nothing else. Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 say "Call from xxx at home from Vodafone" or something along those lines, I couldn't quite make all of it out. Its bobar!
voice command hasn't worked properly for a while. once upon a time it used trip announce incoming caller..theres a guy trying to get it working in dev and hacking.check out his thread for more details.
one option is to record the most common callers you have as a voice tag, mp3 or whatever, then assign each one as a ringtone., lot ofwork though..
I seem to be doing something wrong...I accepted a phone call today while on another call and the cID came up but after the call I can't find the caller ID in my hisotry.
I feel like I have swiped and looked but it doesn't seem to be there. Is this already listed as a problem or an issue? Am I dong something wrong?
I did some basic searches but always came back to evo4g issues or older phones not wp7...
The call did show up in my AT&T billing online as a CALL WAIT so I seem to be stumped.
Hey everyone anyone have an idea of what might cause this? I am with Rogers so name as well as number are sent with caller ID. On a lot of calls, my phone will ring and it will show a number like 416-123-1234 as calling with no name at all. If I don't answer, then the notification bar and call logs will show "Missed Call from ABC COMPANY". Anyone know why it doesn't always show the name when the call is actually coming in and then does later? I don't have any caller ID apps or things like that, and I even enabled google's caller ID feature but still doesn't do it. Most calls will show the name, but just a handful always do this.

Have the same issue. And I don't see the the caller picture.
For the callers that I have in my contacts as well.
I am on Rogers and can confirm the same issue. It happens sometimes, whilst other times I see the company name and picture even though it is not saved in my Contacts.
