ok i tried porting this, and got bootloop like no other
could someone PLEASE help?
Hope this is ok being posted here jus tryna get this thread out to get help with my guide on (THEMING ) a rom. i figured it was cool to because the rom i am using to customize in my guide is a cm 507 test 5 rom and devs traffic through all day long world wide.so forgive the mistake if misplaced.
hi names b6gsix and i created a document to be used as a guide or a list of files used to customize a rom. Document Page. By customize i mean only to change the look of a rom to your desire ( THEME ). i recently was told about the " how to create your own custom android rom video " and i watched it installed virtual box, installed kitchen, edited rom, signed and flashed ( NOTE TO NOOBS THAT VIDEO DOESNT SHOW HOW TO MAKE AN ACTUAL ROM ). My thing was i wanted to do more to the rom, i wanted to add my own default wallpaper and a different app drawer tab and launcher and i wanted to add the black notification bar to my rom and add desired custom icons. But the kitchen in virtual boxes ubuntu wasnt cutting it. it only allowed very basic/limited options as far as customizing a rom.
so i began a search to learn what i needed. then a couple days ago i pm'd a couple a members here on xda and asked how do i do this and i obtained some pretty good information on how to do these things ( my rom came out f'd up still cause i got to adding all types of stuff to it lol ). but the answers i got along with my special-ed rom mishap (which did flash but was jus so all over the place looking) inspired me to find out more about how to fully theme a rom.
Most forums or threads i came across were piled up with info on top of info so much that it scared me from even tryna learn what to do. so believe me when i say i plan to make this a [GUIDE FOR NOOBS LIKE ME] lol. ( BY USING SEARCH TYPE" HOW TO USE METAMORPH " FOR A EXCELLENT GUIDE ON THAT METHOD ) and goto youtube and search for emogamer's how to use metamorph video.
Anyways i talked enough i think i hope all devs/mod's/ppl of knowledge contribute to the next generation of android devs or themers at least lol.
So, you want to make a community rom? The title says "How to create a fully custom rom" but I don't see any guide here just something about wanting to make one. Why make a guide if you can't even cook a rom yourself?

Sounds like hes talking about theming, "change launcher" and all that other stuff.
well i appologize if not using the correct terms but im looking to take the cm5 rom and add my touches to it ( ex: wallpaper icons launcher font colors ) make it my cm5 rom.
and my purpose for posting it was so that members with experience and knowledge could help the new comers to g1 developement learn how to theme or customize there rom.
also i had watch a video on theunlockr com and it was suppose to show me how to create my custom rom in ubuntus android kitchen. but it was so so so limited as far as functionality and options. so i set to find out how to actually change the look. cause i like darkstars notification bar with the gray icon color and battery and his black pop up box outline with the text box white background u kno jus rndom parts from different roms i flash on the regular.
i think thats why i flash roms is because of the special feature that one has or a certain look of a certain part u kno lol
please help pleaseeeee help thanks

You can only have 1 def wallpaper, you can't have 2 def launchers, one would be secondary launcher. You can put pics on your sd in a folder called pictures or wallpapers too.

LOL, thanks for taking my comment in stride. What I was really getting at is maybe you just need to edit the title a little to reflect what you are really trying to do.

Look, dude the reason why some people are bashing you is because you're making a guide when you, yourself, do not know how to make a cooked rom yourself. You even said it yourself. This should go in Q&A as this is just a re-worded question disguised as an guide IMO.

All roms have a bunch of walls, but the launcher has a smaller mem footprint when there are no inc walls. You would need to rebuild your own launcher based on cyan's.

lol i know this isnt exactly a port and its a bit much but i suck at this so im thinking if you can do it. i like the notification menu from this theme (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=707027), the icons on the notification bar and the bar itself on the enoch theme (3g, battery, etc),the phone/contacts apks from the enoch theme. and the blue highlights (key press, focus) colors. lol like i said, its a bit much but if you could do it, that'd be great BTW: im not sure if it matters but im running the newest zomg-notmydog build and im planning on flashing this over blackmod
Side Note: if that is too much, im sure many people would enjoy this for your hero http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709481

Right Guys,
For those now running cyanogen on there x10's, they maybe aware that some themes from other models of phone will fit our x10, i have been in touch with a xda developer SicNside of the droid Eris phone whose 2 of his themes i have used. If there is much interest he has messaged me saying he is willing to port the themes over to us and to support us, can those interested please post and also any of you willing to test as he has not got a x10 phone.
I have posted some pics of one of his themes which i tried yesterday and i am sure you will like, i have also provided the link for Eris thread.
The zips are flashable by xrecovery/custom zip install, please do the following..
*Always make sure you have a backup using xrecovery*
Copy zip to sd/card, go into cyanogen settings/user interface/tweaks extra and reset to default.
Go into xrecovery wipe dalvik-cache and install custom zip (FroShed-CELB v4.1-4.3 ), reboot phone.
Please then do the following..go into cyanogen settings/user interface/tweaks extra and select a theme and choose froshedyov10-reboot your phone and thats it.
On the the lock screen there is background to a logo that is bieng looked into at the moment and a solution will be found.
Please give your support guys, i do not want any credit for SicNside's work but he is willing to share so can you pass on your thanks to him.
I will share this thread with him once up and running so he can then start porting-cheers.

UPDATE.......
Those having problems with cyanogen settings not working flash the cyanogen settings update zip with xrecovery and please remember some setting changes only work after a reboot.
Those having issues with the grey bar in the lockscreen, it is nothing to do with the theme it is the version of cyanogen you are using on your phone, i re-flashed with this one and it did the trick.......

I really like the Lucid theme, if he ports that to the X10 I would test it out.
Nice theme. Would like to try given that my pc gets back from repair in time.

Give it a try mate, as long as you are running cyanogen on your phone you will be ok, just follow the instructions on the first post and get the theme from sicNside's thread, again the link is in the first post, wallpapers and extras are also in his thread.

Hi sniperbag,
I have tried the gingerbread (GB FroyoEris-CM6.2), it is in 2 versions and the FroShed-CELB v4.1-4.3, the only issue with the froshed is the lock screen, have look at the screen shot, it has left a grey background where he had a logo, it has been mentioned to sicnside and he will look into it when he recieves my pm(time zone differance).
Give it a try i think you will like.

Hi,
Nice to hear from you, we are currently running CyanogenMod 6.1.1 with froyo base, i have tested the FroyoEris gingerbread and that worked fine, i will test the CELB in a while and edit this post to let you know the result.
The FroShed-CELB v4.1-4.3 works ok, but as for the lock screen problem i had, another member never, so i do not know about that one.
We appreciate all your help and your sharing, i am sure more will get involved as you post, if you want to start a seperate thread, please do by all means, it may be easier in the end, if you want to use this thread for testing for now thats fine too-thankyou.
EDIT....I have just installed GB CELB-4.1 - 4.3 and it works perfect, so the choice is yours my friend, seems like we may be lucky with the resolution, i will try and find out what x10 resolution is for you.

Thanks and Best regards,

The extras are not flashable zips they just contain things to extract to your sd card like docks for launcher pro, wallpapers and icons to use in the dockbar or to replace app icons using a icon replacement tools or launchers that have that option built in like adx ex. As far as adw tweaks you can use the icons but adw still does not allow you to use custom docks
