Ipaq data messenger - General Questions and Answers

Hi Fellows,
I have just been forcefully upgraded to the HP ipaq data messenger http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=1531
Prior to this I had a polaris and use UKdiamond's ROM which I now love and want to try to put on this or similar on the new ipaq.
I have tried searching to see if the IPAQ has another name but am not having much joy.
Can anyone help with what roms will work on this, or if the ipaq is teh same as any of the other dvices in these forums
Many Thanks

try this one

Luckily, there's no ROM for your device for the moment. Check the Sable-forum for more info.

Spend some time here. You phone model is Hermes. I would highly sugegst you read the section "Hermes for Beginners" before you attempt to try any upgrade. Good Luck.
I checked that out... the picture they show isn't my phone. They show the 8525.. not the 8125.. Cingular offers the upgrade to WM6 for the 8525... but not for the 8125.

Back to WM5... possible?

Hello guys
Is reverting to an official WM5 rom possible? I've seen posts on other forums which claim that downgrading is risky... can anyone advise?
Thank you in advance!
Yes, it should go, but if you made some docx-files with office 6.1, you have to convert them ...
and you should save your PIM not with a backup tool, you should take activesync
Greetings
Max

I have done it from WM5 to WM6. Then to compare back to WM5 and still back to WM6. And not planing to do it again.
WM6 better.

WM6 is better how?
it has all i need.
And it looks better to!!!!!
It is more fun to try different release every week.
I softreset my O2 EXEC less then on WM5.
But it is personal taste any way.
Every one to make their own choice!
P.S. Didnt notice you like your vedeo call! Sorry.
I had video phone since they came out on 3G (2003?). But over whall time used it 3 times max.

Ahh.. yeah.. it looks better.. I just use wisbar to compensate for that though.
And yes, video call is very important to me.
The best way is to send a mass mail for wm6 video call for uni to HTC.

It definitely is possible to go back to WM5.
In fact, after extensive experimenting with WM6 images designed by our gurus here, I regretfully had to go back to WM5, because I use my Exec for business; it was a hard decision to make, because I liked having new Office Mobile formats on board, but the following reasons brought me back to WM5:
1) inability to get onto Wi-Fi networks.
2) inability to get certificate stored on device for Exchange push mail (easily done on WM5, may be I didn't try hard enough on Six...)
3) hang-ups during off-peak hours when trying to leave GPRS/UMTS on.
4) minor niggling interface errors.
You just get an image for your brand of Universal and load it into the device as usual.

help!!!sim card problem on Universal!!!

The machine often can't identify the sim card,it shows the sim card is lost.
If i turn off the phone and then turn on again, sometimes the machine show
the message "The Gsm radio has crashed.reboot in 30 seconds."
so it reboot itself but doesn't work!!!
Help me please``````

If you have done all of that, then it sounds like a hardware fault to me. I assume you have tried cleaning the contacts on the Uni itself? Failing that, it sounds like you need to find a service centre.
Cheers,
Steve.
yea, once i have the same problem like you.
I give my uni back to dealer, try to buy uni from another one, IT WORK!

thx everyone!!!!
it works now!!!
i downgrade to wm5,but still.
then i use a rubber to rub the sim card metal.
then it work!!!!and doesn't lose again!!!
Yeah i`ve got the same problem, and even I lost the phone signal, I tested several wm6 roms but finally I downgraded back to wm5 and nothing works fine therefore i think you'll have the same problem, I know that a lot of people have the same problem and I'am almost sure that it's a hardware failure of the phone in the uni, good luck!!!
yeah, I'am suprise, but it could be a good idead, i'm gonna take my rubber.... and .... in the next post
still doesn't work..................

Hi apokryphus,
I had the same problem with my Xda mini S - o2 usually stores the additional .CAB-files for the homezone indicator on the ROM, so before flashin to a new ROM you can (and should) just copy them and store them on a storage card. On Wizard, I needed two files, one was for the channel and one was the Homezone indicator tool. You can also call the o2 hotline for free and they will most probably send you the files per eMail. In fact, the German o2 hotline is (or was at least) one of the best hotlines I ever called. Just ask them.
Cheers,
Eriol
I'm not sure it's the best idea to call them and tell them that you have flashed a custom ROM on your device..

Would YOU do this? REALLY? Even if there is no need to do so??? One might think a while ... and figure out that it might also be possible that you own an unbranded HTC device without the Homezone software. This might work ;-)
Easiest way is to save the needed .CAB files from the original ROM and store them on a storage card.

Imate Jam (charcoal -128mb) which rom?

Hi!
Anyone have my phone or similar and know which Cotulla rom I should upgrade with? I only have 2003SE and have an iPhone 3g and to be honest disappointed with it!! Will be in the market for a new smartphone/ppc soon but atm would be interested in breathing some new life into this old phone. I don't use much data (grps) but have the Sandisk Wificard which I use at hotspots, etc. English rom aswell, thanks!
Thanks very much!!
Barry
EDIT: Uggh.. just realised my Sandisk 256mb+WIFI card only works with 2003 and below!! ( Guess no way to get it working on wm6??
2nd EDIT: Doh.. just realised you can only upgrade with XP!! Any chance of Windows 2k? I have only got Vista and 2k.. I presume the reason for XP is for the ActiveSync? Thanks
These would oughta work and fills your requirements

Sorry bout the Vista part it seems unless you search a round abit, the USB drivers on Vista don't seem to work properly. You could try flashing on Windows 2000. It's either it will or it won't detect the phone during the RUU's detecttion procedure
