Does anyone know which is the registry key that will change the phone band settings. I have changed the following, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting\BandT ype] but it not updating the selection offered under phone settings band selection. With the ATT Rom I only have a selection of 2 choices. I want to add the following choice. GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(850)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Did you ever figure out if you could control the band selection via a registry setting?
I need to force this setting via a script for a large user group and am also having problems figuring out what reg setting to change.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Just in case anyone is wondering, I found it:
\HKLM\Software\OEM\UMTS\OpMode
0 = Auto
1 = GSM
2 = UMTS
When you cahnge the band through Settings>Phone it immediately switches the band over if it can find it. When the change is made through the registry it doesn't seem to refresh and look for the new setting. It will, of course, work when you soft reset...but that defeats the whole purpose. Anyone know how to make the reg change actually take effect?
Registry
i was wondering how do i get to the Registry?
Can anybody help me?
I'm pretty new with Treo 750
thanks in advance
You need to use a registry editor. I use PHM RegEdit myself.
I have literaly spend the last 2 days (getting very little sleep) trying to get my new AT&T Tilt phone to use the WM6 built in SIP functionality.
At one point i was able to make and receive calls with the phone registered to a Nortel MCS 5100 Sip Server. i even had blutooth, and 2 way voice working. i have downloaded and tried all the cabs i could find, read through all the posts, etc.
the one thing i have NOT been able to get working is SIP over 3G. i have tried it with wap.cingular, isp.cingular, with the proxy enabled, the proxy disabled. did the registry hacks, etc.
has anyone gotten the Tilt to do SIP over 3G?
Hello,
I just found and test on my vox, the way to autodisconnect from GPRS after the mail check. I was very unhappy with this feature because my battery was drained much faster then now.
The way to autodisconnect is:
Edit registry with a registry editor:
go to HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\
Create a new DWORD value: CacheTime with decimal value of 60
This is the amount of time in seconds your smartphone will wait before ending the packet data connection.
Under SuspendResume, remove the string "~GPRS!" and replace it with "GPRS_bye_if_device_off"
This change tells the device to obey the time set in CacheTime and sever connection, vice the default setting of leaving the connection all the time.
I tested that settings on HTC S710 and Samsung i600 and it worked.
thanks for the great tip
Thanks a lot for the tip. Has been looking for it for a long time. Because my previous handset (Nokia E50) used to automatically disconnect after checking mails. Looks like Microsoft gets a cut money from operationrs for GPRS usage
hi,
this method will only cut gprs connection after mail sync or all connections ?
60 second after the end of sync or after the start of it ?
a lot of question ;-)

Click to collapse
this setting will close all GPRS connections immediately after they are not used.
Don't work! (Samsung Omnia i900)
Also when you might have been busy browsing the internet or using a chat application for instance Mxit, and someone calls you the GPRS Connection gets dropped but it does not continue after the call has ended.
I did some testing on my own and made a thread about it, but still haven't got an answer to my question except for not changing the registry and leaving it on default, the session will continue after the call has ended and using the Com Manager to end the connection manually when you are done.

Hope it helps answer some questions...
Hello,
because of the high battery usage i want to enable 3g only if i use it to surf the internet or something.
I know, there are few programs like bandswitch or commmgr, but they are to "hugh" for me.
So what i want is a little program, that ONLY switches either from 3g to gsm or from gsm to 3g just by starting the program, for example in the tf3d program shortcuts, without having to enter a pin or anything else.
Is this possible? Or is it possible to open a special windows configuration, like the telefon->band-config by shortcuts?
Hope you can help me.
Thanks

Hi,
Is there a way with shortcut, scrip or program to launch one of my 3G/GPRS profil connection. I've 3 profil in network management tools, Orange enterprise, Orange World and Orange Internet.
Orange Interne is free to use, without proxy or restriction. I'm using it with Fring and Gmail. Orange Enterprise is for exchange mail, calendar and task synchronisation. Fring, Gmail and url navigation are disable.
I'd like to create a shortcut to launch one or other profil connection rather than go to network management and change the defaut profil...
Could you please help me to create a script or shortcut to do this.
Thanking you in advance
Nobody knows?
You can do it through Mortscript.
ENABLE connections works for sure..
DISABLE depends on your device ....
Thanks for your Help.
I've a SGH-I780. Disable the connection is not a problem, I can do it via icons on top of the screen.
Is it hard to use mort script to make the 2 shortcut? Have you a small example of script?
Thank you
Hi,
i've made a small script with mortscript and it works well. I can enable Orange Internet or Orange Entreprises connexion.
But... I've also a new problem because, in fact, my connecton is automaticaly disabled when I launch Pocket Internet Explorer and the defaut profil in Network Configuration Profil is launched.
I think I have to modify my registry to make the connection I want to defaut just before enable the connection I want in my script.
Do you know the right key I have to write and the correct key???
Please help
you can also bring up Data Connection in Comm manager using Schaps' Advanced Config
