Hello.
I am interested to buy a smartphone from another country, some people told me to make sure about the IMEI and the language.
So here are my three simple questions.
1)What should i look for on the IMEI ? Some told me to see if the device IMEI is equal with the one on the box ? I am quite unsure what i can understand from the IMEI number.
2)Furthermore what is about the language. I mean if i order the phone from Germany, does this mean that i will not be able to use it in another language ? e.g. English ?
3)When talking about an unlocked phone, i understand that it can be used with any carrier. Fine. But on several websites i see the same phone on the same store with 2-3 different variants, meaning Mobile-A by T-online, by Vodafone etc. What difference does it make ? Should i go for one that is carrier-free (or however we can call this) ?
Thank you.
I'll try and answer all of your questions for you
1. Every phone in the world has a different IMEI. If a phone is reported as lost or stolen, a carrier can 'blacklist' an IMEI so that it does not work on their network, and shows up as 'stolen' on other networks. It's always important to determine that the IMEI of the phone you are buying is not stolen. You can ask the seller for it, and use an IMEI lookup website to determine this. There is a sticker on the retail box that has the IMEI printed on it. If it is different to the IMEI of the phone, it means the phone is being sold in a different box. This would start raising alarm bells for me.
2. Not necessarily. Most modern phones support multiple languages, and almost all of them support English. It always pays to double-check with the seller, though!
3. Different variants of the same phone usually support different radio 'bands'. This means that they may or may not work on your chosen network. Check your carrier website to determine the network bands they use, and then double-check those bands are supported on the device you wish to buy.
Good luck!
thank you for the reply.
Everything is pretty clear now.
I believe i can go to the shop now
Thanks again !
You're very welcome
First of all sorry for my poor English.
I am living in Turkiye (Turkey) and i recieved a HTC thunderbolt as a gift. One of my friend brought it. It's marked as "verizone". So i digged forums and found a way for s-off. It's okay. (i tought). But there is a problem (and big one). Turkish goverment and GSM companies does not allow to use foreign phones. Here is the link! w ww.mcks.gov.tr/en/HaberDetay.php?Key=32 You must have a passport that must be checked in a month. With this passport you can register only one phone's imei. If you want a second one, then you have to wait two years for new registiration. In other way i have a phone my own. I want to use this phone's imei. Because i did not stole it or, i'm not a criminal. I just want to use this phone.
Is there any way.
Thanks
Unfortunately the thunderbolt doesn't have GSM capabilities. Unless there is some sort of cdma network in turkey then it doesn't look promising that you will be able to activate it.

So i've seen quite a few ebay iphones with bad esn be it sprint or verizon. Now ive been looking around and reading many articles, but up till now i havent been able to clarify my situation.
So i hope you guys can help me, because there are too many diverging opinions and too many differing explanations. I need something concrete and sure.
Ok lets say theres an iphone 4s or 5 either verizon or sprint CDMA bad ESN or clean ESN. Ok so both normally have GSM sim capability . Doesnt matter if stolen, out of contract or lost or still has clean esn.
So its CDMA locked right, means that it doesnt use a GSM sim card and is only used on the carrier its locked to. But still retains GSM carrier sim useability properties.
So here is the question:-
1. Can i use a GSM sim card of another carrier "Emtel Mauritius"?
2. If yes is there anything else i need to make it work, jailbreak, unlock etc?
3. Is there any limitations in itunes, does Itunes activate my sim etc, will itunes block the BAD ESN phone?
4. Is baseband freely upgradeable without any consequences?
5. If i get an Rsim7, can i use the Bad ESN phone on the go without trouble.
Thanks for guidance.
I need to be 100% it could be a great save for me.
?? No1 ?? i wouldve expected a few replies with some substantial help by now. Any1 with experience with BAD ESN and can clear my way to cheap iphone 4s or 5.
Hello, sorry for my english but I'm Italian and I can not speak well.Let me explain my problem.I bought in Texas a Samsung sch-Centura s738c (prepaid phone) to use it during my vacation made in August. Now I'm back in Italy and I can not use my phone because I can not insert a sim.Is there a way to use it with Italian number, insert a sim card by changing some electronic part, or set up an Italian telephone number in order to use it?Thanks for the answers in advance
If you cant insert a sim card its a cdma phone that you cant use in europe.......you cant change any parts so your best bet is to sell it bro

Provided that the device is unlocked and supports GSM, unfortunately, the Galaxy Centura is a CDMA only device. The Galaxy Centura was my very first android phone, way back in 2013.
Hello everyone,
Happy New Year !
Also, i bought this phone, Xiaomi 10 Lite.
I i live in Belgium. No problems with my belgian sim card.
I moved to Portugal, and i can't connect my belgian SIM card to the Portugese network.
So i bought a Portugese SIM card, and i still can't connect to the portugese carriers.
I guess i have to unlock my phone. But i have no idea how to do this.
My previous phones were already unlocked.
The only solutions i found are asking me to pay.
All websites seems to redirect on here... (and some other as shaddy websites)
Are there any tools i can use ?
Any help or tutorial please ?
I have the IMEI code tho (both of them).
Many thanks for your help !
