3g enabled smartphone/PDA for t-mobile US

I want a 3g enabled smartphone/PDA for t-mobile, not the G1 dont like it. T-mobile 3G uses bands 1700 Mhz and 2100 Mhz right? So if i buy a phone that supports HSDPA 2100 Mhz will it work on the t-mobile 3G data network?
t-mobile is a gsm network though, so i don't know that an hsdpa phone would work with them (first of all no sim slot)
tmobile's 3g is new and not fully released so it would be difficult to find a phone that supports their 3g (you won't find anything but the g1, and you couldn't unlock a phone from att to support there 3g because the bands are different)
This is my understanding, but if i am wrong you guys can correct me

[Q] Importing phones

Hey guys I just wanted to get some info on what phone will be possible for importing.
I live in Australia and am contemplating to a smartphone from US and A (why do they get the best phones the earliest?). But the issue is that I am still in my contract (Optus/Virgin). I have little idea about the different GSM radios, but still unsure.
(I was planning on importing the EPIC 4G but, like the rest of the world, we don't use CDMA). Now I am contemplating to import the Motorola Atrix 4G (I am pretty certain this wont be made available here).
Would AT&T's services work in Optus (with voice and data/voice only/no support)?
How could I unlock the device if I were to purchase it? (carrier only/manufacturer only?)
I hope this thread can be useful for other members.
AT&T devices work in 850 frequencies for 3G networks, check with your local provider, as for unlock you can find them all around the WWW from 8 to 30USD depending device.
Thanks orb.
Here's the situation, I'm in metro-area on Optus connection.
1. Telstra (this company is equivalent to AT&T in USA)
3G UMTS850 (Australia wide 3G network, aka NextG)
3G UMTS2100 (3GIS Network shared with 3)
2G GSM900
2G GSM1800
2. Optus (this company is equivalent to Verizon in USA)
3G UMTS2100
3G UMTS900 (rural network)
2G GSM900
2G GSM1800
3. Vodafone Hutchison Australia (This company is equivalent to T-mobile in USA)
3G UMTS2100
3G UMTS900 (rural network)
3G UMTS850 (limited metro network)
2G GSM900
2G GSM1800
Would the Motorola Atrix 4G be compatible with my plan?
If not, what would it be compatible on?
You may chack the device bands, from what I found:
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
Reference
If you ask me what would I choose my answer is an HTC branded device, just check what model you want and get the band specs.
This is a great data base site.
Let us know what you got!
Here is a bit of a reference for you. It has phones for your frequencies, 4 inch screen or bigger, Android and a 5MP or more camera.
You can look at any phone with the "Phone Finder" button.

[Q] info needed... 900mhz spectrum 2g 3g

Hello,
Im looking for some info... u see the story goes, i have a htc hd2 and recently managed to snap.the charging port by having it plugged in under my pillow overnight... so i brought a phone off ebay, its a cyberjam 3g... now it supports gsm 850 900 1800 1900 mhz and wcdma 2100 mhz
My carrier giffgaff (runs on o2 uk) has just introduced 3g on 900mhz... giffgaff also uses 2100mhz...
But does this now mean that i will b able to use 3g through the 900mhz that my phone recieves?
I havn't recieved my cyberjam yet and am still using my hd2 with an external battery charger and spare battery...
It was recently agreed by ofcom that o2 could use its same 900mhz longrange spectrum that originally supported 2g to broadcast a 3g signal...
*the things i think i know*
Whilst searching for a cheap replacement i made sure i brought a phone that supported 3g as i use my phones internet alot, and most cheap android devices didnt support 3g but worked with every uk carrier except three... on the gsm spectrum... i know three only has 2100mhz spectrum.
Does this now mean any device that supports 900mhz will recieve 3g with o2??
And finally, do wcdma 3g phones automatically support 3.5g (hsdpa)??
Thanks in advance for your help.

Anybody?????

[Q] 3G not working in Thailand ?

Infuse 4G never sold in Malaysia and Thailand officially...
Works well in Malaysia but 3G is not working in Thailand.
Anybody knows the solution ?
Should flash specific Modem ???
Thanks, guys...
1. What 3G bands are present there on the network you are on?
2. Are any of those bands present in Infuse?
Even within US, T-Mobile SIM in Infuse won't give 3G 'cos of bands incompatibility.
ic...
Will check and report here again,
Thanks, Dud...
Hello pal,
Infuse only support 3G - HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 but Thailand Providers (AIS, DTAC .. and others, I am not sure..) only support 3G / HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100..
So I think no matter what Modem you flash on Infuse, cannot use 3G in Thailand.., I think.
I also found out something weird is,
Almost every Samsung phones support HSDPA 850 /900 / 1900 / 2100 EXCEPT INFUSE 4G.
So this is because of bands incompatibility as diablo009 said...
Thailand Providers Truemove and DTAC support 3G band 850 MHz
( 3G UMTS/WCDMA , 3.75G HSPA(hsdpa)/HSPA+ )
Modem UCKL2 works fine.

[Q] 3G on Rogers Wireless

So yesterday I flashed this phone to ICS, its great, thanks guys!
However, I have a question about radio (I'm a software guy not a hardware guy).
Apparently, this phone supports Triple band UMTS 1700 1900 2100 MHz.
Rogers Wireless in Canada 'operates on the frequencies of 850/1900 MHz'
So, why can't I connect to Rogers Wireless with 3G speeds on the 1900mhz band? Does the phone require both 850 and 1900 MHz UMTS to operate 3G on a 850/1900MHz network?
The best connection I can get is EDGE and it's painfully slow...I bought this phone before I had a data plan with Rogers, so I never quite realized this issue...I guess I could just switch to WIND I just want to understand why it cant operate 3G over the 1900MHz band
3g needs 2 bands, one for upload and one for download. And that's why most phones, for example, bringing to the T-mo network you won't get 3g/ 4g speeds since it would need both the 1700/2100 bands and not a whole lot of non T-mo phones have these bands. So in your case a phone to run on Rogers with 3g would need both the 850 and 1900 bands.
the hardware should be able to operate at those frequencies but its software locked to 1700/2100 or 2100 mhz, so if you want 3g/hspa you must be on an operator which uses one of those 2 frequencies

how do i software unlock it? Does cid uunlocking do this?
Although I haven't use it, I often see 4G Rogers data connection when I'm in Wind's "away" zone. Assuming there are no other models of MT4GS (with different radios) I'm rather sure this phone can use Rogers 3G network.
