No, there is one more that i know of. He's not in orange but has admin status and i think his name was Perter Poelman.

Maybe this will help you in your quest for XDA Anniversary.

If you decide to throw a party don't forget to have Jameson or Jack Daniels in the house, before you send your invitation to me.
Found a nice little sentence that still holds up on that old XDA page:
"We prefer unsupported chunks of information over no information any day"
So unless anyone comes up with the correct earlier date.
You can trace the last edit of that page, January 28, 2003.
But it can probably be traced even further.
If you take a look at:
http://web.archive.org/web/20031229083505/http://xda-developers.com/
You'll see that back in the day [email protected] Pictures weren't an issue. (drop down selection box About the Hardware >> [email protected] Pictures of XDA)
As the site has matured, less and less of these are posted. But Mike's still got a nice collection of these on his own site.
http://www.mikechannon.net/page1.html
So it's a party every day here at XDA.

It may be around the third week in January 2003. BUT that's not confirmed yet - we're waiting a reply from Admin on the precise date.
The server is in Holland.
Peter Poelman one of the founders and still around today as is Itsme (with the coveted Developer / Moderator rank), albeit that they are not active on a day to day basis, but still responsible for the site. I believe, but I stand to be corrected, that FLAR our current Admin, was brought in by the likes of Peter to take over day to day Admin when he and others took a back seat and had to spend more time running the parent company.
Whatever the date, the Membership will be required to donate towards bottles of Bubbly for the Mods. (If you like, you can also donate to the Psychiatric fund that takes care of Admin staff when they retire in a state of utter mental breakdown)

Still, its a bit cheesy asking for money like that.
Lol, have you seen where midget has put his paypal link? On the YOUNG ENTERPRISE site for young people. Here's their ABOUTUS description:

Young Enterprise is a charity that aims to give young people an insight and education into the world of business by the hands-on experience of running a real company. The company has a bank account and must produce and sell products to the public to make a profit and therefore increase the value of their shares that have been sold to family and friends. The businesses and volunteers that support Young Enterprise take an active role in building a better-motivated, educated and enterprising workforce, at the same time making a real difference to the existing lives and future potential of young people who live and attend school in their area.

its on a subdomain because i dont have another domain for the server, apart from for them i only use the server myself so i use the IP (i'm cheap ass like that)

I would help... But in Russia is not present paypal. And existing translation systems in paypal take simply wild (sometimes reaching up to 30) percent. Can you create webmoney account. http: // www.wmtransfer.com/
Before creation specify a point of reception of money in your country. I wish to thank for fine roms which has started to use still with HTC BLUEANGEL
Well my PC is playing silly buggers, and I have had to underclock it until I can get the new parts on Saturday.

Is this the end of XDA-Developers?

Everywhere I go, I see the following message:
"... links removed due to legal complaint from Microsoft. ..."
They finally got P.Oed enough by the success of this forum and by the fact that you guys are doing everything they can't or won't.
Well, it's a sad day for us all :-(
In the hopes that this forum keeps on doing what it's doing, I say this.
Well done guys! keep on the good work !
And thank you for hearing my rants
I'm not sure why at all it would be considered the end of XDA-developers. Microsoft will still release wm6.5 no doubt so It is just matter of time until WM6.5 is released and then cooking on wm6.5 will start again. Just right now the movie is on pause
And WM 6.1 can continue to be tweaked to our heart's desire.
oh and I also happen to have b16b's WM6.5 if you want that....
I am sure it's a very credibly crafted hoax.
Of course Admins don't want any trouble or harrasement from anyone (certainly such mighty legal giants like Msoft) so they did what all of you would do - take a precautionary measures
Let'em sort it out.
Its just a temporary disturbance in the force far from end of xda LOL
And now I have utopykzebulon's v6 WM6.5 josh's WM6.5 also
"Is this the end of xda-developers?"
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...no.
Not even close.
Same thing happened when wm6.1 was leaked.

Just a hoax...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=492791
This thread has been up for a couple of days now...
op, it's not even close to the end! xda will continue on rocking!!
Same thing happened when pre-released WM5.0 builds leaked on XDA-Dev a long time ago. The website lost all it's FTP files to Microsoft back then because of that and yet here it is, still up and running smoothly.
I have strong doubts that xda-dev will go down. Besides, it's not in the best of HTC or Microsoft's interests that they do so. A strong community like the one on xda-dev brings lots of advantages to them. For starters, there's the publicity that they're getting out of this, then there's the strong client base for their devices and OS for which one of the major reasons of purchase is Windows Mobile modability and the advantages this website brings in high-level customization of their own device. Which is what most users like to do: to get the most out of their hard-earned money. And last, but by no means least, there's also the potential feedback on their applications and OS that they can get from xda-dev which might help for future improvements. As for the leaks, i'm sure they really have nothing serious against them, as such leaks keep interest in devices alive. Of course, there are limits to this, as the boys need to keep their pre-release material safe and also incite interest in newer devices, but still... Backwards support is always good for PR.
I can remember when WM5 was in Beta, I added the fix to the Typhoon (orange c500 rom) shortly before it was taken off the FTP... my name is still on the "where has WM5 gone" text file on the root of the ftp those were the days eh?
think of it as a temporary set back... technically roms are no longer hosted on XDA anyways.
Hah, no way is it the end, the links should be back up soon after the admins fix this hoax stuff up. Seriously, the guy who sent the fraudulent emails is such an idiot!

And as somebody earlier mentioned this is a very strong WM community, here you can find som stats about xda-developers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=491608
Cheers
P.S. Be Positive
Might not be such a bad thing anyway
Even if there was an end in sight for xda-dev, another forum would spring up elsewhere to take its place. And that might not be such a bad thing...
xda-dev is one of the most hostile, unfriendly forums I frequent. Incredibly useful, with infinitely valuable resources, but senior members are often arrogant and intentionally unhelpful, and mods are heavy-handed, closing down threads unnecessarily at the drop of a hat.
Microsoft and HTC in good terms with xda?
There has recently been much anxiety in the Windows Mobile ROM cooking world over at XDA-Developers after the web site started receiving take down notices from some-one purporting to be from Microsoft. The practice of making updated firmware for older devices have always been borderline illegal, and the similar practice on the desktop (e.g placing a pirated copy of Windows Vista on a XP machine) would never have been tolerated.
It later turned out the take down notices were rather dubious in origin, and did not really conform to the format used by Microsoft. Tweakers.net, a Dutch web site, decided to take the bull by the horns and ask Microsoft and HTC directly what they thought of the situation.
Maarten Sonneveld, from Microsoft Netherlands was very clear. "What is happening there, adjusting ROMs is illegal. They go to get the intellectual property of others." He however, Pilate-like, absolved Microsoft from any responsibility to address the crime. "This intellectual property is not with us. The ROMs are owned by manufacturers or providers, if the branded versions. We supply only the OS."
That leaves the ball in HTC’s court. HTC however had no plans to squash one of the biggest selling points of their phones. "What happens there should not", says HTC Benelux director Mark Moons. "But XDA-Developers is the largest and most active community of Windows Mobile developers. We can not live with ‘em and we can not live without’ em."
The outcome of these statements is therefore than an uneasy truce exists, leaving XDA-Developers to continue their exploits in peace, but always with a gun pointed at their head if either Microsoft or HTC changes their minds. If this were to happen however it is likely that both would see a dramatic loss of market share, as many regulars who only buy HTC Smartphones, abandon the platform in droves.
We hope therefore, as is the case now, that cooler minds continue to prevail.

NGMOCO's Plus+ & We Rule coming to Android.

agreed!!! excited either way...i feel like in a few months more and more big games/companies are gonna be on android....now theres always winmo7 that will be tempting me back to the winmo side
It's almost July and still no We Rule for Android. Very dissapointing.
Today I wrote an e-mail to ngmoco:
Dear Madam or Sir:
Today I'm wrtiting you to let you know how disappointed I am by the lack of attention to questions on Facebook or Twitter.
I repeatedly contacted We Rule as well as Ngmoco on both platforms to get some information about the promised release of the We Rule game on the Android platform. .
On January 5th WeRuleGame told me via twitter that the game is "coming early this year". Since then my requests remain unanswered
It's almost July and still no We Rule for Android within sight.
It would be nice if ngmco would let the Android communty know how much longer we have to wait.Is it really too much to ask?
I really hope that my answers will find a sympathetic ear some day.
Best regards from a really disappointed (yet) fan

The answer came quick:
We've been working diligently to bring We Rule to Android these past few months. I apologize that we haven't been able to respond to your comments on Facebook or Twitter.
At this point, we expect We Rule for Android to ship in a Beta form for the most popular Android devices sometime in July or August. We don't have an exact date because as I've said before we're most interested in releasing a quality, well-tested We Rule for Android than anything else.
I hope this helps!

XDA/Samsung

Hello Guys,
My name is John, I recently became the social media analyst at Samsung mobile. I wanted to start opening the lines of communication between XDA and Samsung. First I wanted to say I have noticed your work on our devices on the XDA forums. I think you guys do an outstanding job, I myself am a developer for mobile devices. So let’s get down to business, we’re going to be in Austin from March 10-15 for the SXSW(south by southwest http://sxsw.com/convention). I was wondering if any of you guys are going so that we could meet up and share a couple of ideas I have. I am looking forward to meeting some of you GREAT developers!
Thanks in advance,

I think he's legit, folks.
If you are indeed an analyst for Samsung, welcome to XDA. I'm sure you've already noticed by now that there is a lot of cynicism both for Samsung and your claim of being an employee. Simple reason for this is that most everyone here feels that Samsung has ignored their pleas for help, didn’t deliver promised upgrades, and left millions of Galaxy S owners with buggy software/hardware, etc.
If your goal is to reach out to Samsung users at the grassroots level, you're in the right place. However, you also have a tough job ahead of you. The disenfranchisement runs deep and it will take a lot of effort to fix.
Here are some suggestions for you to escalate internally within Samsung:
1. Support the development efforts of the XDA developers. There are many talented people working quite hard to customize, fix and generally improve Samsung firmware. Samsung should make some effort to provide these developers with source code, tools, and help.
2. Take an honest and upfront approach to product defects that find their way onto store shelves (e.g. GPS, battery, etc). I guarantee the cost of addressing the problem will be fully offset by the shift in customer loyalty. An unreliable product is perceived many times worse if the OEM denies or ignores the issues.
3. Set a release schedule with carrier partners and stick to it. Apple has set the benchmark for frequent over the wire software updates. Android applications are updated with fixes and improvements on a regular basis. In stark contrast, our firmware lags far behind Google’s releases and FOTA is failing more than it’s working. This has to change. Samsung needs to push out regular firmware updates that are applied seamlessly without loss of data. Forget FOTA and do it like Apple does OTW (over the wire).
4. Allow users the option of switching to AOSP. Some people like TouchWiz and some don’t. Give them the choice.
BTW, in addition to being an informed consumer, I work in the mobile industry. I know a fair amount about how it should work. The Samsung Galaxy product suite is performing very well but the real question is how long will it last. Loyalty takes effort to maintain and is easy to lose.
P.S. I may very well be at SXSW but I won’t know for sure until a week or so beforehand.
I understand I have a lot of work ahead of me. As I said before, Im here to establish a partnership with XDA developers. Inbox me to let me know if your going to be there so i can arrange somewhere to meet.

He said he has been lurking the forums and likes what he sees. So he has also seen all the dissapointment that is running through these forums as well.
If you were in his position would you not want to come in here, with support and proof of who you are? (there is multiple threads of the same post in other categories, all have been asking for proof for hours)
I'm not saying hes not who he says he is, just think he could have introduced himself a little better.
Guys, do a little research. Pretty easy to figure out that he is either very thorough or he's actually legit.
Maybe we should tell him that it is a welcome first step to see him here.
He is an analyst so he's going to have to escalate pretty far up the food chain to be effective. Hope you're a good communicator John.

Making flyers to fight the SOPA act

Listen up people. This is what we need to do to help the public become aware of this very damaging Act. We can not let Big brother push us around any longer. And there constituents the big corporate companies. If you go to this web site and you click on the names of all the people that are in support of the SOPA act. You will see the huge contributions and a generality of where they came from.
http://projects.propublica.org/sopa/
What I and all the members of this site are in need of is something that we can print on paper that we can distribute to the public. So I ask the members to help us to get this done. Pleas come up with or help find the proper info that we can copy and past into a word document that will allow us to print it out and then hand them out to the public. I know that this is something that maybe I should do my self. But, I am on the road all of the time and I work two jobs. And have a wife and two children that I like to spend time with when I get home. I don't have much time to concentrate on this at this time. And we do not have much time. So I ask that you help us out. You do a lot for us in the community. And we as a whole are extremely grateful. We would not ask for your help if it were not so urgent. So I ask that if this is something that when and if done, you either post a comment here or you PM me the item in question. If this info is a collaboration from members and the info is PMed to me I will include if desired the members names that came up with the finished product. Maybe I am saying to much here as I some times do. Maybe this is a bad idea. But, I am not sure as to what else I can do at this time. Again, I travel all over New England all of the time. I will make as many copies as I can to distribute to the public. Also if there are any paper print shops that are willing to help and make prints to give out to people when and if this info gets posted here. I believe that we all will be extremely grateful for the help given.
As a matter of fact, I will make a place holder for the work of art that should be printed up. To the people in the print shops. I live in MA on the Northern boarder of RI. If you are going to pledge your support in this battle. I ask the members that are willing to distribute these flyers get in contact with what ever shop pledges there support and let them know when and where you will pick up the flyer's. And, as a note. If any one here does get involved in this. I can not stress enough that our conduct must at all times be civil. If we are in a parking lot and putting flayer's on peoples vehicles. Please be mindful of the accessories that you are wearing. So as to not scratch other peoples vehicles. And if the owner has the rite to kick you out of the parking lot do not quarrel. Just go and start else where. Thank you and i hope that I have not made to big a fool of my self. good day/night.
Place Holder:
I really hope this gets nipped...
i don't think many people realize how big of a deal this is..
i am all for helping out in any way possible to prevent SOPA
I've already petitioned my state officials via e-mail thanks to the EFF's website for this. I actually got a personalized email back from one of them.
More background information
Could someone please post some good links for more "true" background information for "foreign" users?
Thx

Does anyone know who started this whole bill? I haven't heard of this until now.

Fantastic. Done the same myself. Hopefully with enough complaining, we can get our representatives to pay attention to their constituents.

It was originally introduced "by House Judiciary Committee Chair Representative Lamar S. Smith and a bipartisan group of 12 initial co-sponsors."

I can see that they want to stop piracy, but this is clearly the wrong way to do it.
And they're up to 30 co-sponsors now, by the way.
Keep on them "do nothing" representative's before they screw us again!
Agreed, im actually more concerned about this than studying for finals
I made flyers today and posted them everywhere with my friend.
