I need a camera app that will create timestamp filenames - General Questions and Answers

My current PPC 6800 camera app only creates filenames like IMAGE_001, etc
I had a PPC 6700 and the camera app on that allowed me to create filenames that were timestamps -> 20081123132345.jpg (YYYYMMDDHHMMSS.jpg)
I need to replace the camera app on my 6800 to one that worked like the camera app on my 6700 (or something similar). Please note that I do not have my 6700 any more so a simple "Copy it off you old phone" won't work.
TIA
Posting here as there may be other camera apps on other platforms outside the HTC line that work just as well.

i don't know what is the 6800, but my tilt's camera application has the option to change image names to be the time and date instead of image_001

Htc Camera Album??

Is there any way to make the htc camera album the default viewer???
try going into the registry and navigating to
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum
and changing the entry "default_viewer" from 0 to 1. I haven't tested it out myself, but seems like a logical choice, lol.
tried that before. it doesn't work. I also even tried changing the :MSPIMG registry entry from pimg.exe to htcalbum.exe. that doesnt work either. THe only way so far has been to use Resco Explorer to overwrite the pimg.exe file in the \windows directory. But since you can't back that up easily or rename it, you would essentially have to "lose" your original pimg.exe. i'm not willing to try that yet. so i can't confirm it even works. but someone in the Kaiser forum said they did it and it worked.
Have you tried Schaps Advanced Config Tool ?
On the tab "file associations" set the program to open jpg files to the HTC camera album program.
Worked for me ;-)
This doesn't make it the default viewer within the camera app however. It seems that pimg.exe is hardcoded in the camera software.
Also, I believe that unless the images are in the image directory that the camera is set to save in, having the .jpg associated with HTCAlbum.exe will not open the images located elswhere. At least that is what I have found.
how do i gt the latest camera album for my touch p3452

Camera problem

My camera button is not responding anymore.Vox is original htc reflashed to dr gonzos most recent wm6.1.(fantastic version by the way...gives new life to the phone).
On the unflashed phone the camera had stopped functioning...the shortcut button on the side of the handset caused the windows icon(circle)to spin but disappear.
On this version the icon doesnt appear at all?.
In windows folder on the phone I have the following files..
Camcorder
Camera
Camera.exe.0409
HtcCamera
Short_Camera
Video Recorder
Most exe's in here are followed by .0409?,when I select the camera.exe.0409 file,i am greeted with "There is no application associated with the above file, run the application first and then open this file inside the application".
When i select the Camera file with no extension(camera icon),nothing happens. There are various files when browsing through the registry, but I dont know what values to change to.
Its not the end of the world that its not working but it would really complete the phone for me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Fix] Facebook in HTC Album

There is nothing wrong with eitheryour HD2 or Facebook; the problem is with a particular tweak that I find irrevocabley pernicious across my phones! It ALWAYS causes my ELF, Diamond, and HD2 to behave erratically and without adding the alleged performance boost everyone is convinced it does!
I have tried it, it caused my album to lose the ability to load Facebook photos, fixed that, recreate the problem and saw the same result, and finally fixed it again!
NOTE:Most of our tweaking apps apply this legacy em3.w tweak mindlessly to our wm6.x systems.
The fix is simple:
After you have applied all your performance tweaks, go into your registry and:
1. Navigate to \HKLM\SYSTEM\STORAGEMANAGER\FATFS
2. Change the DWORD value "CacheSize" to 0
3. Reboot
4. Launch Album, goto Facebook albums, load your favorite one, browse the pics
5. Rejoice!
Cheers

Go into your registry
Or you just download the hotfix at the official HTC site....
Hi shirreer,
thanks a lot for this, unfortunately this seems not to be the problem I'm facing. This Reg is on 0 already.
I've been using a lot of Manila versions (currently 20142924)
But also 2011 and 2012 had the same issue.
Maybe its the FacebookSDK build in the ROMS I used so far. Dutty once issued an different one, but with this album works, but contacts doesn't any more....
Thanks although.
Oh hey, that works nicely. Guess there is such a thing as too many tweaks. Heh! Don't generally use the feature, but it's nice to have it working anyway.

Do you know if this hotfix is available somewhere for custom ROMS? Anyone extracted it from the official one?
Edit: I found the files from the hotfix and installed them, no change (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5989296&postcount=12)
I don't have a Leo, but this fix works for me on my Raphael & Rhodium: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=268518&d=1263662460
It simply creates a folder called "PINET_ROM" in the root of your device. The FacebookSDK.dll is hard-coded to look for Flash Storage there, but for some reason, the driver that's supposed to create the folder (OEM_FLASHDRV_1.DLL) doesn't mount the drive properly (or something like that). So this should get the online Album working. Also, make sure these registry keys are set so that you see the option to view FB Albums for linked contacts:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"EnableOnlineAlbum"=dword:1
"Facebook.Disable"=dword:0
(The latter value shouldn't actually be there at all)
The downside here, of course, is that the Facebook Online Album cache is going to take up quite a bit of storage on your device, but for you Leo users, I assume that's not a big deal, right?

Hi Captain_Throwback!
I cannot believe it, as my Reg-Key on my TD2 Rom (Yin.09) was anyhow correct, I followed your advice and created the directory via Resco Explorer on my Root of the phone...and it really works....simly as that, just createa dir, I still cannot believe it....
THANKS A LOT!!!!!!!
Hi.
I've the same problem.
But i can't create the directory in the root. It says that's impossible.
I've resco explorer.
Can you help me?
nothing...
i can't resolve.
help me
I dont seem to have a problem loading any friends albums anywhere, in the app, in the htc albums or where ever.
THE problem i have is, i cant get my own album to load in the fb app normaly .....
I can see my wall and all that, but when i go to my album tab to tag or whatever, in the fb app, it just sits there loading forever.
The only way i can get it to load, is by adding the fb app to rotate i bsb tweaks and rotating the app to landscape and they show. It wont load any thumbnails though.

You don't have to create the directory. That's what the CAB I linked to does for you. Just install it.

The Facebook app is an entirely different animal - that's an MS app. You'll have to search around to find fixes for that issue. My response relates only to the Sense online Album integration.
i've tried to install the cab, but appear the message : impossible to install "t-back..."
why??

I don't know. That doesn't make any sense. The CAB doesn't even contain any files, so there's no reason it shouldn't install. There's also no reason you shouldn't be able to create a directory. I assume you have an HD2? Can you provide your device ROM info, Manila version, etc? The best to allow people to help is to provide all those details.
Yes I've an HD2.
The rom version is 1.66.408.1
Manila 2.5.xxx
Radio 2.06.51.07

If it's not letting you create the folder, that likely means the Flash Drive is actually working, so I don't think you need this fix. Do you not get pictures when you go to Facebook Online Album?
When i go to create the folder, a message appear: impossible to cerate folder, the folder already exists.
When i go on facebook on line album... i see nothing (only the list of my friend)
when i touch on refresh (on a friend's name) appear the message: the customer doesn't have an album to visualize

The problem you're describing isn't the problem I was attempting to fix. Did you try the tweak from the first post regarding the CacheSize?
Are you sure the friend you're looking at has Facebook Album pictures? I can get to Online Album 2 different ways - either going through a link Contact's page, or selecting the Facebook Tab in HTC Album. From there, you should see a list of the linked friend's FB Albums. if you're not getting that far, then you have no way of knowing if the picture preview is working or not.

[Q] Tech explanation as to why TF101 can't natively open multiple docs at same time

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could give me a semi-technical reason as to why you can't open multiple documents natively with the transformer. Natively, it's impossible open up document1.doc and then have document2.doc open at the same time and quickly switch between the 2 documents without having to manually find and reopen the other file.
At first, I thought it was something like the same application couldn't have 2 instances open at once as an OS limitation. However, it IS possible to have the same application with 2 different documents open at once but not without using multiple file managers (theres a vid on transformerforums demonstrating that if you open different files with the same app, but via different file managers, you can switch between multiple docs)
So why isn't it possible just to have 2 instances of the same application opened with different files without having to do multiple file explorer work around?
Also, do you think this will be/is without the work around in ICS?
Thanks in advanced
I don't think there is anything in Android that limits you to only a single document open at a time.. I think rather it is simply a limitation of the app you're using. If the developer had created a tabbed workspace or some other method of navigating through multiple documents opened simultaneously, it should work even with Honeycomb or Gingerbread. There's no reason to think that simply updating to Ice Cream Sandwich will add this feature to the app as it exists.. the developer will need to add in this functionality.
Have you tried a different app for viewing/editing your documents?
That's true, problem would be solved with tabbed browsing. Can you suggest a decent office style suite that supports tabbed browsing?
However, it's not possible to open multiple instances of pretty much any apps from what I can tell - that seems to be a limitation of the operating system does it not? But at the same time, it's not an OS limitation, because it is possible using multiple explorers to do a work around to have multiple instances open, but not without an impractical work around.
I find it strange that when I use the explorer to open a word document in any other app, it still appears on the "multi-task" bit as the explorer application. If I load the explorer app again (say to navigate to a different file) it closes the document I opened.
Thanks in advanced
You say explorer like ur talking about windows lol. Kinda confusing to picture exactly what ur doing, but i think i get it. As far as i know, there arent any word processing apps for android which allow multiple documents to be open side by side. Id bet its NOT an android limitation, as multiple internet browser tabs fit under the same concept(sorta) and probably take up much more memory than multiple text documents. its just an idea that i assume hasnt been ijmplemented yet. Id email the devs of whichever word processing app you use and ask them if its something theyd be interested in adding to their app. The only workaround i can think of for the time being, is to use two or more different word processing apps (for example polaris and quickoffice) simultaneously, and use the task switcher to go back and forth.
Just re-read ur post and saw you mentioned this...

I guess that would be another work around, if it really works. that seems almost like a bug to me lol. Just wondering though, how would you switch between the documents if they are open in the same app? Would the task switcher show two instances of the same app open?
Okay, maybe not a "limitation" of the OS, more a "feature" where if you try and open the same application when its' already in the "recent items" it just restores the previous one from previous items rather than opening a new instance simultaneously.
Yeah, it's true, try it. If you have multiple file explorers (e.g. ES explorer and file manager) go into ES explorer, open up document1.doc in DocumentToGo (for example) and then open up file manager and open document2.doc in DocumentsToGo. It seems android opens DTG within the explorer/manager, so if you switch between the 2 different managers using the recent items, you can see DocumentsToGo open twice, once with doc1 and once with doc2. (I can't take credit for this btw, I made a similar request as to if its possible to open 2 docs at once on transformerforums and someone made a video showing that work around - I would post a link, but despite being a member/lurker here for over 5 years, I still can't be trusted)
I may just have to try and put my CS degree to some use and try make a tabbed word processor.
Thanks for the responses
Somewhat relevant to this... whatever happened to Onskreen? I thought they were trying to appeal to Google or something to get some real multitasking on tablets?

Photo names and duplications

Hi all
Whenever I transfer my photos to my pc from the device, it asks if i want to overwrite some i already have. This seems down to the phone creating file names in the same order at all times, rather than say - naming a photo by it's date.
How can I change the way file names are saved/created in the camera app, at present I'm having to give each photo a name so as not to loose any in the process of saving them to my desktop.
Renz
I would say some more input about what you do exactly would be helpful so I'm just guessing that by transfer you mean moving the photo files off the phone and new pictures start again with DSC_0001.JPG. To prevent this keep the last photo (with the highest number in the filename) on your phone to avoid that the next photo starts with 1 again.
I use "DSC Auto Rename" from the play store. Install it, activate it and you can set it to automatically name files by date and time. It runs in the background and works perfectly
