Scanning Windows Media Player 10

Hi,
WMP is driving me totally nuts...
If I select:"play all music"(on my storage card) WMP is like scanning the files, only playing 4-5 seconds of every song. I can't find where to disable this, neither how and why it's doing this.
Can you help me please?
I already deleted on my storage card in the folder MSMETADATA the file XMEMediaLibrary.mlb and updated library again but that didn't help me.
Do you have OXIOS applications installed?
Yes indeed.
Could that have something to do with it?

YES, that is the culprit. The problem persist if you activate OXIOS Close Apps followed by OXIOS Hibernate. The solution I found on my HTC Universal is to just install OXIOS Hibernate on its own. I don't like OXIOS Close Apps anyway since it does not close every running apps open.
Enjoy...

Hey cktlcmd,
Thanks a lot man, it was bothering me for some weeks and I couldn't find a solution, neither on MS Mobile.
How do I install Hibernate separately?

This is the OLD version of HIBERNATE that I have on my file. It recovers memory, but DOES NOT show an open window indicating how much memory you regained. I prefer using this OLD version because it saves me time on closing the open window on the NEW version. I have attached the file at the bottom. To install it, just copy the .exe file to the WINDOWS folder and create a shortcut icon to WINDOWS>START MENU>PROGRAMS>CUSTOMIZED FOLDER.
If you prefer to use the NEW version, just extract it yourself by going to PROGRAMS folder where you installed it originally and copy the .exe file before actually uninstalling it from you PPC.
Hope this helps. Enjoy my friend.

Again many thanks for your quick answer and solution. You saved me a lot of grieve.

At first that was my solution myself, but time came for me to HARD RESET my device one day, so I tried all the applications I want before I performed the HARD RESET. So I experimented if Hibernate alone can do the trick, and it did.

Newbie Registry Editor Question

I'm planning to pick up my Fuze on Tuesday. Can anyone recommend a small, efficient registry editor?
Thanks!
http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/
or
total commander
Got it.
Many thanks,
Richard
Yeah, I'll 2nd PHM, used it on my Fuze and it was awesome.
or Mobile Registry Editor if you want to edit registry via PC
Download: http://www.breaksoft.com/Blog/Utilities/2005/1/Mobile_Registry_Editor.aspx
FAQ: http://www.breaksoft.com/Blog/Posts/2005/8/Mobile_Registry_Editor_FAQ.aspx
try the advised search options..
I'll stick with total commander it's a bit more and very effective.
Im a fan of PHM as well, but his is a site I made thats got all the common registry entries in it that you can make an installable cab file for. You can add your own as well. Much faster, and reversible by uninstalling the cab:

Okay maybe a stupid question. I installed PHM while my phone was active synced and my computer said it was installed, but I never saw anything on my phone and don't see it in the "programs" folder. This is an AT&T FUZE.

Programs on Memory Card missing after Hard Reset

Im new to Windows Mobile and did my first Hard Reset on my Xperia yesterday. Now I am missing the programs installed on my Memory Card, for example TomTom, in the list of programs in WM. The only way I am able to access these programs is through a file explorer.
How do I fix this?
Thanks in advance // Thorell

Hi Thorell:
To reuse these programs all you need to do is create shortcuts to them under the windows->startmenu->programs folder and they will reappear in your programs under start menu.
This way you don't need the file explorer to reach the programs .
Thanks! It works!
If I may ask another (stupid/simple) question: How do I make a shortcut? I solved this by copying and editing an allready existing shortcut, but I assume that there is an easier way.
// Thorell
@thorell,
Just hold your stylus on the application and the menu will pop up. There is an option in there that says "Send Shortcut to Programs..."
One small correction though to what thesire has written. He is right but not all programs behave the same way. A lot of programs copy most of its files in the location that you select. However, there are many programs that must write things into the registry and even copy some files in system memory. In other words, even though you will see programs in your memory card, you will not be able to run them... not even by clicking directly on the .exe. You only need to reinstall the app.
Good luck

So what you're saying means that there is no benefits except more free memory in the internal memory when you install on the memory card regarding some programs? I thought/hoped that you could install on the card in order to not have to reinstall every program after a hard reset. This time I had only the TomTom Navigator on the card, and it works now, but if I had installed, for example SPB Mobile Shell or some other programs that in my (not on knowledge based) opinion are more integrated (spelling?) in the system, it wouldn't have worked?
How do I know that a program will run from the memory card after a hard reset?
Thanks /// Thorell

you are absolutely right egzthunder1, because wm behaves the same way as traditional windows and when hard reset everything that is copied to the windows directory and registery for the program to function is lost. I definitely overlocked this small, but important pointer. Thanks.

HTC Touch diamond ROM update Re-register TOMTOM

Hi all,
I have a small question
I have a HTC Touch diamond and i just updated the rom to the version of 2009-01-16.
I had TomTom 7 installed on my internal storage.
After the update tomtom seems to work just fine BUT its off my programs list(seems okay because i updated the rom).
Is there any way to re-register tomtom to the programs list without completely re-installing it.
I can't seem to find any info on the xda developer forum.
Is there anyone who can help me?
Grz,
Zooibak
I don't think you can re-register the program.. But what you can do is, simply create a shortcut for your tomtom executable in the programs folder.. You can use File explorer program like Resco Explorer to achieve this..

Creating a program shortcut in Win Mo 6.5?

I updated my ROM the other day and I re-installed all my software afterwards, but one program (tomtom) didnt get placed in the start menu or in "All Programs" on the Manilla programs tab.
If I manually browse to the exe in the program files folder (on my storage card) it launches and works fine.
How can I create a shortcut in Windows Mobile 6.5 so that it shows up in my Start Menu or in the All Programs area?
I tried exploring the device while hooked up via activesync, and creating a shortcut hat way, but with windows mobile 6.5 it seems that doesnt work, the option to create a shortcut doesn't even come up in the context menu anymore. Same goes for if I browse to the file via the file explorer or total commander on the device.
Use Total Commander or Resco Explorer and create the shortcut in \Windows\Start Menu or \Windows\Start Menu\Programs(\Your Folder)
D'rath
There are two ways I use to make a shortcut in Windows Mobile. The first is to find the original EXE, tap and hold on it, and select "copy". Then, go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\, tap and hold, then "paste as shortcut".
The other, easier way is to install this valuable piece of software, restart file explorer, browse to the EXE, then tap and hold, then finally choose "Send Shortcut to Programs".
Thank you both for the info.
I was able to do it using total commander, which did have a "Create shortcut" option in the ">>>>" option of the menu. I used that and created the shortcut in the programs folder and then it showed up in the start menu and in the touchflo all programs menu.
Allthough this thread is already a few days old i still ought to thank you.
I had exactly the same issue - no TomTom anymore and i couldn't figure it out by myself so got really frustrated. No registry-manipulating worked (didn't understand how to do it right) and no manual shortcut-file creation either...
So i am really happy that you, DaveTheTytnIIGuy pointed out that FileExplorer Extension. Fantastic thing.
And Total Commander is too, actually. But i liked the extension better. Thanks anyways!
Your help is much appreciated.
Do it in File Explorer... that's work. In Total Commander doesn't...
shortcuts to cab files
need to use TC to make shortcuts--the FM ext only supports exe shortcuts.
Mine worked fine on a cooked WM6.5 on my Fuze for the remove/restorehiddenproxy cabs
Worked perfect
Worked perfect, saved me alot of greif thanks
(whew)
im so glad i found this thread. was pullin out my hair trying to figure out where to place the .lnk for garmin to make it show in the programs section.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Same for me! I felt like i had tried everything, and here the solution was staring me in the face (well...inside of a >>>>> folder).
Thanks!
thanx
Just to say thank u all guys, good info
Thank you!
Got my Navigator back on the start menu!
