Hi all - help!
I am trying to set my TyTN to be a bluetooth modem. The instruction manual is useless.
If I try to connect to my device from my laptop (Dell D610) I get the only option of installing a modem device - I do this but it simply acts as a standard dial-up. I am prompted for a telephone number, username/password. Furthermore there is no generic bluetooth modem displayed in control panel as suggested by the manual.
What I am after is a way to connect my laptop to the TyTN over bluetooth and then use the 3G connectivity as internet access...
I can use the 3G from the phone no probs - so I know the phone is correctly configured in terms of access. It is just the bluetooth part I cannot get working.
It makes no difference if I have wireless modem started or not either...
Help???
Rich
OK - I figured this out...
To install Bluetooth modem do this:
1 - activate bluetooth and set TyTN to be discoverable
2 - on laptop search for new device and connect
3 - select dial-up networking service and connect
4 - set up passwords if necessary
5 - when presented with dial-up info, give the connection a name and simpy add *99# as the phone number.
6 - ok this and the connection is set up and a new dial-up conection (mine is COM40) appears in control panel modems.
In order to connect:
1 - turn on bluetooth on TyTN
2 - activate wireless-modem, select bluetooth and hit start
3 - double-click the new connection on the laptop
It should open the BT port, connect and you should be off...
I got 115k/sec using this over 3G
Rich
PS - you can also do this using the built in USB modem. Basically, start the wireless-modem app, select USB and hit start. Now plug your USB cable in and when prompted install the driver off the vodafone CD (I used the one is OEM/Apps/Drivers/USBModem). Once installed again put *99# as the phone number of the connection. To use simply start wireless modem as usb, connect the device and dial the new connection name. I got 215k/sec indicated!!!!

The 115K and 215K are default port speeds when you setup the connection. If you select the properties of the Bluetooth and USB Modems you can raise it up to 921K
Thanks for the help, here, rakr1 - I've also been pulling my hair out over this. I got the BT modem recognised (also as COM40) and tried using the Vodafone ConnectMe app but it attempts an unsupported AT command and bombs out. So, using your instructions I've now got my TyTN connected.
However, it's still constrained to 115200bps. The modem properties dialog doesn't let me set it any higher. Ideas? How did you change this, rkorzuch?
Thanks.

Mine only allows up to 230K .... is there a newer driver or something ? i used the link from the wiki.
Thanks!
Oh, as a side note, when I tried to install this -- it said something in computer management that made it sound like it was in beta -- something like Preproduction version, [REMEMBER TO CHANGE SYSID] something along those lines .. is that bad?

Don't pay attention to it - in reality, your TyTN communicates far faster with the desktop. the port speed only hs meaning over serial connections, not over IrDA / BT / USB ones.
(At least, this has always been the case in all my tests.)
sorry to sound stupid an' all, but I'm on t-mobile (UK) and I'd like to know what bearing this has on their "Web 'n' Walk" plans, I'm only on the normal version, rather than the plus or max, so would the methods on this site avoid their notice?
thanks, Forlornity
(oh, and First post! I've been lurking for a while now but decided to register today)

I am not sure if you can connect through the wireless modem, I would expect that your dial up wouldn't work. You can give it a try. Even if they would notice, what can they do? You can always tell them that you did it by accident.
I am pretty sure I've read a post somewhere that someone was doing this for quite a while.
As far as I know the difference comes in the traffic limit, where web and walk should be 1 GB and plus is 3GB.
What's a bluetooth modem?
I followed the steps above and managed to get connected (which is great. thanks Rich!)
However, everytime I try to do this again it gets to the registering on the network phase, I can see the connection, send and receive lights blinking and then it suddenly stops and I get a "error 31 : a device attached to the system is not functioning" error.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Dan
i hapen to have upgraded my bluesoleil software to the latest version 5.05 build 176..
have lots of new features and stability and all.. but i can not BT activesync with this version..
my previous version connects instantly with activesync (despite the sudden stuck ups and disconnections)..
i do the standard discovery and pairing methods in connecting via bluetooth..
and my qtek 9090 (wiza200) can see the activesync service on my PC via BT..
but after that, when i go to activesync>menu>connect via bluetooth.. i am once again prompted that i don't have a PC that have activesync.. so i recheck, and refresh the bluetooth devices and see my PC having activesync service..
anyway.. the new version of Bluesoleil have COM3 and COM4 as the available Bluetooth serial ports, while my 9090 can only create outgoing ports for COM6 and COM7.. i believe this is the reason why AS over BT won't connect.. i remember that i used to have COM6 as my BT serial port on my PC (and activesync)- the same as the outgoing port on my PPC..
now, my question, how can i add COM3 to the list of outgoing BT com ports on my QTEK 9090??
afaik once u've paired a device you must configure outgoing com port via bluetooth-> com ports.
Totally forgot how to do this but if your still stuck I can reinstall bluesoliel and check it out. I remember having some sort of problem that took me a while to figure out. Something to do with the pc only recognizing the device for a few seconds, giving me less than 5 sec window to sync or something like that.
BTW what aku are you currently running on your device??
Question:
Is there a way, how to send AT commands to the windows mobile device?
Task:
I want to dial number from computer, device is connected via usb.
Description:
Before I was using serial port with another device - Siemies S65, it works without problems, I was able to dial and send SMS. But now I want to send AT commands via USB to HTC TOUCH HD. But I cant connect to device in hyperterminal - dont know port number, connection settings ( baud rate.. ).
Any advice is appriciated
Hi, hopefully someone can help me with the following question :
I just flashed my Polaris100 to Android 2.2, which works very good now. I'd like to use this device with the XCSoar navigation program, which normally gets its GPS data via the built in GPS.
During winter I'd like to connect my polaris to my Mac via Bluetooth using the serial port service, so that XCSoar can get it's NMEA data from my soaring simulator (SilentWings). So I need to transfer NMEA data from my Mac to my Polaris. This helps me to practice during the winter period. In WM6.1 this was easily done, because:
a) the serial service was build in
b) all used com-ports were shown in the settings menu or could be hacked to show/be edited.
So my questions are:
a) how can I activate the serial service in Android
b) how can I see which com-port is then used for my polaris BT connection (I need to set this port in XCSoar as external device)
I could not find a workable solution on the www or on this forum. I mean "workable", because most solutions or discussions are written in very technical terms and code, but I am an end-user and not familiar with all these terms. I do not know terminal commands as well...
Thanks for your help, Reno
I've never used Bluetooth, I connected to the computer through USB
Eh... what do you suggest by that? Although USB stands for Universal Serial Bus, it isn't recognized by the GPS app as a com-port. As I understood in that case I need a usb-serial service on both my mac as my android, right?
So can you be more specific and tell me how to do it with a usb connection?
Thanks, R.
It is my first post here, so forgive me any mistakes. I'm a newbie to Android.
I've been drifting throughout the Internet and XDA-developers forum to find a solution to my problem, but I can't find it. You are my only hope. Even original support can't help. I bought a non-branded Android device for my car in April 2014, specifically this one: (happyshoppinglife[.com] / honda-civic-android-autoradio-dvd-navigation-with-dtv-wifi-3g-p-1168[.html]). Since then I can't connect to the Internet using 3G modem.
It seems to have some tailor-made Android version, since normal tablets don't have a DVD or FM radio or wheel-buttons.
Recently the manufacturer/developer upgraded the Android to a version 4.4.2 (chinabatemon [.com] / cargpss / android-update-442.rar)
Precisely it is:
Model SNT-210
Android 4.4.2-0140516-sntb-HOMEMADE
Kernel 3.0101-gdaab9de-dirty
[email protected] #9

Currently I have 3g modems: Huawei E220 (VID 12d1:1003, PID 12d1:1003), Huawei K3770 (VID 12d1:14d1, PID 12d1:14c9), ZTE MF626 (VID 19d2:2000, PID 19d2:0031), Huawei E230 (VID 12d1:1003, PID 12d1:1003)
Wifi works fine, but I need 3g..
[EDIT]
I have no root access:

after doing "su":

I'm probably unable to root the device because I cannot connect to it (I got a cable: USB type A - USB type A, but it didn't work: no response from Android device nor from my laptop). After clicking "Build number" once (in the "About CarDVD" menu) it shows "No need, you are already a developer", but there are no "developer options" in the Settings menu.
There is the app "3g reconnect" already installed in the system, but after I connect a modem (E230, E220 or K3770) with working SIM (no PIN) in "Plus" (MCC 260 MNC 01) its LED is blinking green, and then blue after a while (one blink per 3-5 sec) but the system remains unchanged. The support (the Chinese via chat, not very nice experience talking: an hour waiting for response) said I .
I tried PPP Widget to help me, as well as Android Terminal and Slick USB 2 Serial Terminal.
I set PPP widget to start manually, set APN to "internet", left number to dial unchanged, no user, no password. After booting without 3g modem, PPP Widget starts and I connect the modem to a USB port. I click on the PPP icon, choose my E230 modem (12d1:1001) and I click connect. PPP Widget searches for the port and tries to connect.
When I turn on logging, portcheck.log says:

I can swich the modem's mode:

the default was AT^U2DIAG=257
After switching to AT^U2DIAG=0 the modem seems to be recognised by lsusb as 12d1:1001
I tried to connect manually:

.. and it returned CONNECTED
but when I went back to the home screen and tried to check if there is Internet access (I turned on Chrome), there was no Internet access, but I have to revise this once more.

HI, alfonso.
Answering to your questions:
1) I've had many problems, which I had to solve mysfel or using chat-support (It was not a pleasant experience, each talk lasted forever..)
2) There is no "a complete manual" for SNT-210. I can only share the one I got from Happyshoppinglife => Manual
3) Changing logo: there should be an application to do that, but in my case the user should enter a password, which was "121212" and could choose the logo for your car
4) I had the issue with downloading the contacts from my phone via BT either. I didn't resolve it, I just quit doing that (downloading contacts). The problem was probably too much records in the phonebook. But synchronising the Android's phonebook with Google Account might be a solution. But.. there is a 3g / wifi connection required, which I still don't have.
Sholud you have any more questions, don't hesitate to write.
Regarding the 3g connection problem:
I am still struggling with the 3g modem case. I found out (thanks to arnoldziq) that my 3g modem is ok (there are modem drivers in Android 4.4.2, Android finds the modem and the usb port the modem is attached to). All the problems may result from a wrong APN list in \system\etc\apns-conf.xml. In my case there is
Code:
<apn carrier="PlusGSM" mcc="260" mnc="01" apn="internet" type="default,supl" />
but it should be
Code:
<apn carrier="Plus" mcc="260" mnc="01" apn="internet" type="default,supl" />
But the next problem is - it is not editable (the device is not rooted). And I tried to root the device using a shor tutorial by an XDA user KID52 for a similar device. I connected both: the device and my laptop to a router so that both devices see each other (ping confirms that). I installed ADB ("15 seconds ADB v1.3.exe" from here) on my laptop. Then I tried to connect. In my cmd (laptop) I run:
Code:
C:\Users\Grreg>adb connect 192.168.170.3
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
unable to connect to 192.168.170.3:5555
C:\Users\Grreg>adb devices -l
List of devices attached
C:\Users\Grreg>adb tcpip 5555
error: device not found
I tried to install adbWireless.apk in the CarDVD device and run the commands again. Without chnage. I read that in order to use adb via Wifi / TCPIP you have to be connected with an USB cable. But I tried, and I can't do it - neither device noticed the connection with USB type A plug - USB type A plug cable.
A question to XDA users: is there an alternative way to root the device? Or am I doing something wrong?
Hi, thank for your assistance
now I'm having another problem, the car is connected to an external display, if I insert a USB stick containing a movie in automatic start a program to read music only, if I use an app for Android naturally from the external screen is impossible see anything ... is there a way to watch movies from usb directly with some programs of the car without using the app of android?
In fact there is a program for dvd....a program for aux in....a program for usb and a program for sd card (this last I have not used yet, infact I don't know is a program for music or movies ...I hope the second!!)
You know something about?
Scuse me for my bad english
thank you

Hi,
what do you mean by "external display"? my device (youtube.com/watch?v=sEJMvUQhTJA) does not provide an option to connect an external screen - no DVI/HDMI output (maybe some AUX out, but I did not check that) - what would you need one for?
After iserting an SD card (or connecting a USB plug with SD reader or USB Flash memory) Android autimatically turns on a music app, but if you want to watch a movie, just close it and browse to the sdcard / flash using for instance "ES File Explorer File Manager" (I had it preinstalled), then when you see your file, click on it and choose an app you want to opent the file with, MX Player is one of the most popular (I had it preinstalled). is that what you needed?
i have your same software but the car device is different, i can connect an external display for person behind for example, but if i use an app of android to red movies on usb the external display doesen't receive nothing; infact if i use dvd ,or tv connet on aux ,i riceive them on external display.
Is strange that automatically device usa a program only for music fo usb or sd card....is not possible to instal a program (no app android) for use them to see movies?
I found a Russian forum where they've been discussing about this device, there is a lot of information and they are way ahead of us, the URL is
