hi guys
I bought the Cameron Sino CS-HDM100XL extended battery for my HTC Diamond, it works fine and it does look like its double the capacity.
Problem is, I cant get the GPS to work when used with this battery.
Is there a way to fix this or am I screwed ?
cheers
Too bad you didn't check this forum earlier. It's a known problem and there isn't a fix, AFAIK..
Although I read somewhere someone actually got better GPS with the original extended battery.
If I remember correctly, it had something to do with the cover, the way it makes contact with the device and how it acts as an antenna.
hey i just got the diamond and I cant use the gps i go on fast gps and it tells me to download some stuff when i finish downloading the stuff it just tells me how many days i have left before redownloading it.
plz help
GPS Works
Odd but my GPS works using the CS 1800MAh battery, i got 2 of these batteries from an ebay purchase and initially no GPS as per other users experiences, was very annoyed but then one day started to work.
Cameron Sino's batteries won't let you use the GPS, duno why just can suppose it's about the mAh. The highest one I've seen from HTC it's 1340 mAh, I suppose the diamond have a security block for prevent all energy problems!
I have a C.S batterie too, and I'll be able to use the GPS 2 times only, (remove cover, fix the GPS, put the cover), but the number of satellite are poor.
I'll think too the cover design surely work like the F117 and reflect the GPS signal away from the GPS antenna.
Hope somebody found a solution for the 1800 mAh problem
Greetz to all
P.S: Sorry for my poor english
Cameron Sino 1800mAh
Hi i am using the Cameron Sino 1800mAh battery with the supplied back cover.
At first i had real problems with GPS reception and played around with different radio versions. I finally settled with radio 1.17.25.09 and while GPS reception may not be extraordinary, it works good under most circumstances. I tried all the aluminum foil tricks with no result - ripped it out again.

Dear all,
I have bought 1800mah battery from easydevices.co.uk and gpsforless.co.uk and both the batteries are showing the status as "Main battery: Unknown". Can any kind soul kindly please post some solution ? I tried replacing some battdrvr.dll with some old one found in this forum , but it dint worked at all and rather started shutting down itself.
Hope someone got their extended 1800mah batteries working properly, can tell me what ROM they are using ?
Kind regards
vj

what do you mean by no problem
there is a big problem that the GPS not working with this battery
Perhaps he means without the problem referred to by the OP? As that is what the thread is about, not the GPS issue, for which there are other threads
BOT - I have this issue with 2 spare 900Mah batteries, so it is not confined to the extended battery. Am trying the drain it/recharge it option. Presumably it doesn't matter if the recharge is done when its in the phone or a standalone charger? Thinking about it, I guess it might matter a lot!

Same here , almost no GPS signal ..
I believe that the back cover face to make contacts that make better gps.
Take a test, raised the cover battery covers and try to launch such as tomtom, you will see that no locks satellites or locks them with a very long time and with a low signal, then put the cover and see which links immediately satellites and a high signal, raised again the cover and see the signal of satellites coupled fall relentlessly until you have a signal low or even absent ...
So the problem with the battery increased from 1800 I think that depends on the cover that crushes not something that runs the gps.
Why not cover the gps does not work well?
Sorry for my English ...
Well i tested a bit.
With original battery and cover GPS is good .
When i put on the other cover GPS is still good .
With the 1800mah battery no GPS dont mather with or withour cover.
What i saw is that the originao battery has some small thing beside the battery connectors , i guess thats for the GPS .
The 1800mah battery doesnt have those .
Well the best is to wait for the HTC more powerfull battery .
If only this thread was about the GPS problem - which is well documented elsewhere!!!

unknown battery
I have the same problem with a 2000mAh I bought from dealextreme. Main batt unknown. Normally I wouldn't care about this but my diamond refuses to charge it.
GPS is working excelent, no lag and the sat aquisition is fast
the "thing" near the battery contacts has nothing to do with the GPS since mine it's working just fine
maybe it has to do with batt recognition? anybody?

I'm using exactly the same battery from dealextreme and never had any issue with it. GPS and battery meter working fine. In fact, I just ordered my second batt and hope to be as good as first one.
Was on Swiftblabe's v7.0, now Pistonripper's 2.0 if thats of importance.
i ended up buying a Ecell travel charger and charging it via the mains £1.99 + £1.99 post from ebay. red light needs charging - green light charged, not a cure but an option, mines only for emergancy power whilst using my golf gps software which runs out after 14 holes
just an option
can any one post the link of the swiftblade that ua saying about..i too have the same problem of main battery unknown..i cant charge and its not showing any status..
what is the swiftblade??is that the rom or radio??please specify and post the link of that particular rom or radio..??im using diamond p3490..with extended battery 1800 mah..
please post the links..
Very cool, this diamond!
I have just bought a new 2000mAh battery with a cover that fits the Ignito from ebay (from Gps4Less, I found out they have a website too) and so far I am very impressed. The quality of the cover is ok, much better than the ones for the Diamond arriving from China. It came from the UK so I did not have to wait long for it either. I charged the battery and after about 8 hours it is still at 96%. I have attached some pictures so you can see how it looks. There is no effect on the GPS performance, I got a GPS fix with this battery inside the house in about 30 seconds after starting Tomtom. The price was good about £16 including delivery, just do a search on ebay for 2000mAh battery for Ignito and you'll surely find it. I have been waiting for this one for a long time. I will keep you updated with the battery performance over the next few days. The only problem I have now is to find a suitable case for it, but it will probably make the phone even bigger. I guess the Invisible Shield might be a better option. So far they only have it for Diamond, not the Ignito, but I might give it a try. Now I won't fear of running out of power while listening to Internet Radio on my way to and from Uni
ugly as hell...
I will never understand why people get a SLEEK phone like the Diamond and stick in a FATASS battery and mess up the fantastic dimension of the phone...
You don't always have to use that battery, but sometimes you need more power, and that's when I'm gonna use it, I will not use it every day, and it's everyone's choice in the end, you can either carry 2-3 spare batteries in your pocket or have this when you need it. It's not too bad, but as I said, it's a question of choice. I could have got the original 1340 mAh battery, the back cover is flat and looks better but I don't think it would have been enough power for my needs.
P.S. Battery is now at 87% after 24 hours of normal use with 3G on, with the phone checking emails once per hour. Not bad...
cant find battery in ebay
hi,
can you send me the link.....can t find the battery .....
thx

j,
Hi, here's one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=350144524998
or this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/O2-XDA-IGNITO...photoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713.m153.l1262 which includes a cradle as well.
Over two days and the battery is at 72% with 3G on and standard settings, usually by now I would have had to charge my battery. The best I got from the standard battery was close to 3 days with the 3G turned off(GSM mode).
Thanks for that hind, I've bought it this morning because I need an extend battery too!
Thanks mate!
Hope you get that out of your pocket when no one's looking.
At least the official one didn't fall from the ugly tree:
http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=173907
Honestly, it doesn't look that bad when you have it in your hand, and it lasts way more than the official 1350mAh battery that expansys is selling for over £50. This one was only £16. Now onto 5th day without charging, battery 49%. What more can I say?
Just ordered this battery as after 1 day out using WiFi to check mail and other websites as well as playing games on the car journey and listening to some music my standard battery died after less than 10 hours!?! This should rectify this problem....
Thanks zoltar
Quick qusetion though, does it actually fit in any Ignito/Diamond cases now? (I don't use one just curious)

It does fit XDA Ignito from O2, it won't fit the original Touch Diamond, the back fitting is different. So, order this one only if you have an Ignito, otherwise look for a Diamond back case.
My extended battery just died this afternoo after more than 6 days since being charged, and only because I used my phone to listen to internet radio for more than 2 hours (it was 29% this morning). The last mobile phone to last me that long was a Philips with a black and white screen that I had back in 2000 - about 6-7 days. And it didn't have internet, music, office mobile, touch screen or colour screen.
I believe that if the manufacturer would make the back of the case flat, getting rid of the 'hump', a lot more people would buy it as many are being put off by that (see previous posts). But the battery is brilliant. I could go on a week holiday without taking any charger with me
I just have the phone next to me when I go to bed and attach it to charger.
It lasts the whole day with HSDPA and Bluetooth on (for carkit), and even some navigation will work. For car trips I have the car charger.
I never, but then NEVER had any battery-issues in my everyday use. I have a feeling everyone is just not needing the battery.
What is wrong with charging regularly overnight?
And yes, it looks damn ugly.
Oh,come on. you're advertising your ebay shop, right?

It arrived this morning, doesn't have a "massive hump" and actually feels ok whilst in hand. (Even I was surprised) Just one quick question do you charge yours with the cradle or does your original Ignito charge it no problem?
Thanks
p.s I just got an cradle, usb charger and mains charger that fits the cradle... no instructions ?!?! ah well can't be rocket science can it

If you were referring to me , you are wrong mate! It's not my shop, I just happened to buy it and found it a good product and thought I could help by posting pictures of it and my experience. If you check my other posts on this forum, you will see I have also bought other products for my Ignito on ebay from other shops.
To ant611982:
I charge mine either using the phone (I got mine without the cradle) or a separate charger I bought on ebay that charges the phone and a spare battery, but doesn't have a cradle. It can charge both the phone and a spare battery at the same time without any problem.
Zoltar do you use a case with this extended battery on? I can't seem to find one to fit. ONLY downside.
Thanks

I'm afraid I have the same problem I was thinking of buying the invisible shield, but i couldn't find one cut specially for the Ignito.
Edit: I found the following cases that might fit. They are for the Touch Pro, but should fit a thicker Diamond as well. I still have to make up my mind which one to choose. There are others on ebay, but most of them in Hong Kong, and if you are prepared to wait about 2 weeks for delivery, fine.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Belt-Leather-...14&_trkparms=72:1301|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318
This one seems really good to me.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PDair-Black-L...14&_trkparms=72:1301|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318
This one is from HK, but it is symilar to the original HTC case and it flexible on the sides.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/L1u-Leather-P...14&_trkparms=72:1301|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318
This is also from HK but it is a lot cheaper than the others. Looks ok in the pictures, not sure about quality. Not leather though.
I got my battery a few days ago and had used it since then! It's working really great, it feels that my Diamond would run more than doubled as with the stock one and GPS is also working!
Now I love my new device much more!
I would rather have this battery over the official one for the extra battery life, but wouldn't be able to live with the cover that comes with it. Anybody know if it'll fit into the offical extended battery case (http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=172103)?

2 hrs is a very short lifetime... does the phone gets hot? if yes you need repairing...
for what i've read about batteries, all except originals doesn't let your gps work, so take your choice according to your need
rgds
2 hours i means when i use internet and when im online, when im on standby its about 20 hours something like that, its problem for me u know and about overheating htc is ok no overheating i think soo working fine just battery is sh** i just buy battery can u tell me if i make a good choice ?
Here is link:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HTC-Touch-Dia...14&_trkparms=72:1683|66:2|65:12|39:2|240:1318
BP E270 is the official extended battery from HTC, it comes with a slightly thicker cover in mat finish, and the GPS works. I just received mine and I think it looks great, just slightly thicker. I believe the 3rd party ones are even thicker than BP E270.
http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=166204
20 hours standby is pretty normal for the 900 mAh battery.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HTC-Touch-Dia...14&_trkparms=72:1683|66:2|65:12|39:2|240:1318

Get Mugen Power 2000 or 3000 mAh.
Hey all, I am thinking of getting an additional batttery and charger so that my TD can last longer.
Anyone has experiences with those offered by DealExtreme?
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.23950
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.25160
for 8USD i could have a charger+ battery which really suits my needs, wanted to see if anyone here has a better deal up ur sleeves
Personally me, I would by HTC extended BP E270 battery, it last's three times the 900 mah one, why would you want to carry additional battery all the time?
Just buy a 1800 mAh dude, just as I did
I just got a new Cameron Sino 900mha one on ebay for my Diamond.
The main reason I don't want to get the extended ones are because I can't find a case for my Diamond afterwards, and I'm uber-pandantic about protecting my phone...
I got the DX 900mAh battery ... figured you can't go wrong with a $4 purchase.
It works, for the most part. Battery life is on par with my genuine battery, so I figure it does have 900mAh.
The problem, is the battery runs very hot. With the genuine battery, the phone runs between ~ 28, 29C, to at most 38, 39C if I've been browsing on 3G for a while.
The DX battery runs at ~ 33C when first plugged in. It typically runs at ~ 35,36C, and easily gets up to 41,42C if you've been using 3G data for a while. It actually went up to over 50C one time when I was charging it and browsing on 3G at the same time.
The temperature worries me, so for the most part I stick with the genuine battery. I rarely run out of battery during weekdays when I am able to plug my phone to a PC at the office. I carry the DX battery as backup only during the weekends.
For European users: I recently bought this one for 6,90 € incl P&P cause I like the thin case and am willing to carry a backup battery with me whenever it is likely to be needed. Be aware that Deutsche Post Warensendung takes comparatively long time to be delievered.
It arrived a few days ago and looked 95% like the original battery although I can't believe that it really is ("htc INNOVATION" print is a bit larger). It fits the case not as perfect as the original one that came with the phone. Anyway, I conditioned it and its lifetime is absolutely comparable to the original.
I have been searching for a while, and only found one other person reporting the same problem. I bought the Hyperion Extended battery from Amazon, and aside from one issue, it is fantastic. I am noticing that while using the battery with or without the cover, I get very erratic behavior from my GPS. I am using the GPS Tool Box app to get my stats. I can lock onto 7-9 satellites, but the error is never less than 200 feet, which is not practical for navigation. I put the OEM battery back in and bingo, GPS works like a charm. Is anyone else having this problem? I am not opposed to buying a different battery if that will solve my problem. Thanks in advance for any advice.
