Odd issue with activesync

Hey guyz and gals.
My boss has an Compaq I-paq PPC running on i think WM2002.
I know these forums are for XDA - but since i have an XDA and these forums are so useful i thought you may be able to help me out.
For the past week whenever this PDA is docked to the PC, the screen flashes (on the PC) (as if resolution is changing) and then the refresh on PC screen seems to go funny (not refreshing everything). Then activesync looks like its syncing but you cant open it (it just stays on the taskbar). Finally when you undock it, the PC screen flashes again and goes back to normal.
I noticed that Terminal services was running on the PPC, so i killed that (end task). I have also just installed ActiveSync 4.2 - but its still doing it!
Any ideas?

problem with flashing under WM6...

Hi everybody,
i have flashed the WM6 underground edition a couple of weeks back. Now i wanted to downgrade to WM5, but without success. I am using IPL/SPL 2.21. After starting the ruu upgrade software the Wizard switches to boot mode. So far so good.... But then nothing happens anymore and after a minute or so the software quits with error 260.
Any hints what to do ??
I have the newest Activesync installed.. I even cannot flash any other Wm6 rom.
Any help would really be appreciated !!!!

When you reboot your phone, post exactly what version IPL and SPL you see.

Didn't someone once post that there was a difference in USB cables....Grasping at straws, but just a thought!

Hmmm... do you hear the active sync connection bell ring when it reboots into bootloader? At the bottom of the screen, do you see the letters USB near the left hardkey?
Might try another PC, or even a different USB port on the same machine. Sounds like the USB is acting up.

After the phone reboots i can see IPL/SPL 2.11.
I can hear three bell rings with the same low frequency. To
me that is not correct as the connection bell ring should be two tones ?
I can see "USB" on the left side of the Wizard's screen.
I also tried different cables, but no success.
I am using WIN XP with SP2. Upgrading worked flawless
some month back with WM5.
The only thing i had to change was ActiveSync 4.5 as WM6 is only
supported there.
Any hint ???

ERROR [248~260] : UPDATE ERROR
This error occurs when there is an “open port error” before upgrading the CE ROM image.
Solution: You can reset the device and run RUU again. If you still encounter an “OPEN PORT ERROR” again, reset your computer and try again.
This is taken from the redme inside the RUU

Put the phone into bootloader mode, kill WCESCOMM.exe from process list, attach Wizard, let it install driver, open up RUU and (hopefully) flash.

Also make sure you pull out your SD card while you try to flash your phone.

Any possibilityto flash soft SPL(REverting back) from MicroSD???

Hi All,
I am havin Orange branded Kaiser.
All of sudden Sync not workin, so cant connect to computer, so I have decided to send it for repair.
But now problem is cant revertin back to soft SPL, Guys any Idea I can flash SPL through the MicroSD.
I am really stucked pls help me, will really appreciate

sounds like your **** out of luck did you read the sticky on the top that explains how to do so? and maybe the rom you flashed was causing active sync not to work? was the phone charging? did you have the settings set correct seems like a strange thing to send a phone in for repair for to me

Can't sync is usaly a setting issue. Hard-Reset device first. If it still does not sync, send it back.

I completely agree, try other USB ports and try another computer.....

I already have tried with diff. sync cables and diff. computers. I tried diff ROMs(includin HTC original shipped) as well but nothing happen.
It does charge the device perfectly but One thing is bit weired it is when you enter in bootloader mode(Camera+Power+Reset) on the top in tri color screen it shows the info abt SPL version and at the bottom it shows "Serial" and when you connect to PC with sync cable it shows "USB" and if you connect with power cable only it stays with "Serial" so at least device itself recognise connection type which is normal but doesnt connect with PC, there must be something blocking the connection in the device, what I think there could be a virus.
I am really in trouble, I desperately need original SPL to revert back 4 warranty

Good day if I'm in the right place, I would like to report a HTC P3300, was originally in French under the wm 5 it was in a Paris shop that I purchased it after a while I did an upgrade if I do not mistake by HTC
and stayed for so long with wm 6, later began to check websites and forums on new roms, unlock the USPL and installed several versions until I found one in English to 6.5.5 was the most beautiful and functional I found
is provided by MMS, but look great i found another more beautiful, but asked to switch to the USPL ELF_USPL 1.17.000 AND SYSTEM accepted and requested to download the Rom version 3.19.4.3 of WM_23138_FULL_UPLOAD,
there was the biggest blunder I made, but the process has started arriving around 3% of the process was interrupted and the screen of the P3300 is gone along with all the leeds yet energized with the bottom of the screen a little clearer when it rebooted already returned
with the screen totally black and no longer lit leeds, I tried all the processes of red soft reset and reset all, when you go to boot loader it does not appear, but charges the battery by USB and wall fountain, if you connect the USB cable PC and PDA hear a beep
strong on the PC that is characteristic of the PC found a device, leed top of a wink and just, always black screen, the icon appears as POCKET PC USB SYNC but
IS NOT NOTHING MORE, BEFORE RETURNING TO A WORKSHOP which is 700 KM from me would like to know of you who understand this system, I think he lost the firmwere the rom and would like to know what and how it is being reset firmwere the tools with which to do it, if I could at least enable the boot loader would have a hope that he does but not all, the sign of life that is left is only the flashing red leed upper right when you insert the USB and appears Icon on the PC and when it introduces the USB wall fountain, but Windows Device Center does not recognize, do I have any hope? [Q] Problems with my old HTC Touch Pro

Hi guys,
i have a HTC Touch Pro and I wanted to sell it.
But some times ago I put a custom firmware on it
and now i want to change it with the original firmware.
The problem is the fact that I cant connect to my mobile
over the Windows Mobile Center.
And without a Connection to Win 7 i cannot change the firmware.
Does anybody know an Advise?
It is a German phone by the way.

There is stillt the posibility to put your phone into bootscreen. just try doing a hard reset and but don't reset it. you only need to get to the screen with the red, green, blue and white bar.
If you are there, it should say "serial" on the bottom of the screen. Next step, plug your phone into usb... it should now say "usb" on the bottom of the screen.
If it says usb, you should be able to Flash any rom, even without a connection to Windows Mobile Center.
Hope it words for you!
Cause that's the way it works for me, if I can't connect.
Just let me know if it worked!
Oh by the way^^ my phone is also a German one...^^
