SPB mobile shell on raphael - Touch Pro, Fuze General

hi all,
Yesterday I installed SPB mobile shell.
I played and configured with it the whole evening......
but DAMN!!! I LIKE IT!
The whole interface is SO MUCH BETTER then the tflo....
It's easy to navigate...it looks nice....and it runs like a charm!
Anybody else installed this beauty?

yup, i did.
but i dont like it that much.
it runs good, but i guess i got a different taste for eye candy

I installed it as well and I must admit it's very useful.
And I use the Second Today program - this way I get to keep Touch Flo as well It's the perfect combination.

If everyone has the same taste some girls where VEEERY bussy! LOL

I use it and I like it very much.
No TFL3D for me again....

the whole SPB suite is great, try it people

been using mobile shell for years on my WM devices.
I like the graphics of TF3D but to me it was all form and no function. Mobile Shell is sooo much better.
I also have SPB weather and SPB Diary too.

Chances of Seeing Sense UI on Raphael???

I would if anyone is considering trying to port this over since it´s already HTC´s? The general news is ambiguous about the mater... Anyone?

I think we'll only going to see it when the first WM phone will be released with it...
Fortunately, by HTC's CEO own words "(... HTC´s Sense UI ...) debuting on the HTC Hero and available on all new HTC devices moving forward (...)”
It looks just like TF3D. Why spend the time to get it of TF3D works and was made for our phones?
I was under the impression that Sense UI was part of the upcoming Hero device which is multi-touch and running Android.
Assuming I am correct, that would indicate to me that it will most likely not be possible to port it.
Cheers,
Although this is true, pbmestre is also true in saying that the CEO said that they will bring the sense UI to winmo devices. So i think it's going to be a long time before we see it on a raphael, since the android version will be practically impossible to port to a winmo phone. We'll just have to wait until it comes out on one of HTC's future winmo devices, and then port it.

Probably, you're correct...
I think that a WM UI version will be available, and will be a step forward from TF3D2... Probably TP2 will have it, within WM6.5 Upgrade...
Still, it will demand a lot of work to port it... As it is a lot more complex (!?)...
But, we can still dream...

TF3D "works" on our phones?? Just barely, if that's what you want to call what it does on our phones.....
I read that Sense is supposed to be the replacement for TF3D (thank god I really hate buggy slow TF3D). That being the case, it will only be a matter of time before we will see it on our WM devices. The sooner the better!

Not even that... which is why I dont even use it. All it is, is a 'pretty' memory hog.
HTC Sense UI = Samsung Widget + TF3D

LOL ... I love the pretty slide'n'flo feel of TouchFLO.
I've always found the Windows Mobile GUI lacking in appeal - IMHO, 6.5 is a step in the right direction.
... but I still love the pretty slide'n'flo feel of TouchFLO.
Cheers,
PS: Did I forget to mention that I love the pretty slide'n'flo feel of TouchFLO?
Gotta agree with you there mate, touch flo is good for touch screen though the "sliding Panels" Chome works awesome on a smartphone. Still got a 6.1 build on my excalibur that I love

I used ultimate launch till I found SPB MobileShell 3.0. I cannot stand the slide n flo it was always insulting to me how they could give us such a poorly performing UI. I agree Windows Mobile UI by itself sucks as well but Tflo is just so inefficient I personally couldn't take it.

sense is coming to wm
I just read an article over on wmpoweruser.com that says it's in the works.

Yes SPB MS 3 has taken over my phone as well, it's the first piece of software that I've been ALMOST completely happy with in a long time. Plus any software that could get you to quit talking about UL all the time is alright with me I will still be interested to see what HTC can do with the new UI.
Sense UI
So any good news with a HTC sense UI for raphael phone?

Tired of manilla/TF2D; Any advice?

Heya, thanks for reading.
I've got a Jade with Manilla 2D, but after using it for almost a year now I'm beginning to get tired of manilla. It works well and looks nice, but I'm looking for something new and refreshing.
I've got SPB Mobile Shell's 15-day trial, but before purchasing a license I'd like to know which alternatives there are.
So far I've seen TF2D, and messed around a bit with SPB MS 3.
How is PointUI Home 2 compared to them?
And are there any other 'today-replacers' I should look into?
Thanks in advance!

So I saw my friend's iPhone's Google Maps program

It was so sweet looking. Smooth, pretty, updated frequently, and was really pretty.
Why does the Windows Mobile one look so much worse in comparison? Not at all utilizing the power of the Touch Pro?

Have you seen the lastest version 3.0.1.6?
I have never compared my Fuze to an iPhone side by side but it seems to look fine to me.

Umm, we're up to 3.2.0.
I haven't seen it on an iPhone either, but our's is updated quite a bit with lots of great features. I can't really imagine what looks better on it except maybe the fact that the iPhone has a larger screen.

Damn ap-to-date...
Not even worth comparing to a Fuze/Raphael, it just crushes it. I mean I find that it is just fine on Wm6.5 for me with the Fuze but really we need to compare it to the Touch Pro 2.
Why is it so much better? Google wrote an app for a firm set of hardware and maximized the performance while taking advantage of the best parts of the iphone.
iPhone is so perfect in so many ways just not for me
we're at 3.2.1!
whats better about the iphone's google maps? Just the visualization of the pin dropping?
iPhone Google maps doesn't support lattitude, windoes mobile's does.
iPhone Google maps doesn't support layers, windows mobile's does.

I am assuming you meant Battery Hog? I know that the true results can only be seen from first hand usage, but a quote from their site sounds promising:
"Device battery life is a fundamental bottleneck of modern smartphones. SPB UI Engine is designed, from ground up, bearing power consumption in mind at every design step.
Battery life tests confirm that, UI designs powered by SPB UI Engine - despite of wearing more advanced visual effects - consume less battery power than popular UI solutions from top device manufactures, and even less than that consumed by the vanilla Android shell, in typical Home screen user scenarios."
wow....Looks nice...can you imagine the themes that come from it once ppl here get their hands on it?
Nice post I looks really cool

I paid for the Windows Mobile 6.5 version of SPB on my old T-Mobile HTS HD2, and I loved it! For WinMo, it was a very well made program. So looks like I will sign up for this. And hopefully (????), as I no longer have my HD2, they might let me carry over my purchase to their upcoming Android version . . . . .

Well, seeing as I haven't had a real job (been doing desktop support for close to 19 years) since LAST December, and surviving off my old 401(K), and money saved really does matter for me
So has anyone got an invite?

Same here bro HTC Touch pro 1 & 2
Still have the Pro 2 tho, gotta love it!
Sent from Point A to Point B
I haven't hopefully soon though.
Sent from my Evolution
Even though I have to admit that SPB has a nice UI and I tried it on my TP and TP2 it is a battery and memory hog that I think I will pass on cause the Evo has enough battery issues.

SPB Shell 3D - Worth the $15 to me!

So, decided to try this launcher...priced at $14.95 I was skeptical. Love what it adds to my Tab experience however. Yes, definitely overpriced...but totally changes your Tab to eye-candy goodness.
Loving the Message widget, totally dig the 3D carousel effect. The World Clock widget is fun, and the whole thing gives my Tab a quasi Honeycomb feel. (in that it's much more flashy to show off, and some of the widgets are great!)
It's a bit of a memory hog @ roughly 90mb usage...but I tend to keep things skinny usually anyways, so no ill effects.
EDIT: I can't help but notice how lag-free this launcher is. I truly expected something so flashy to come with bunches of lag...so not the case. Amazingly smooth.
Here's a video demo for your perusal:

LOL true...still I don't mind tossin $15 to something that makes my Tab turn a few heads & make things more enjoyable to use!
I'd give it a shot if there was a free trial..

Hrmm, it looks ok, but definitely not worth $15, if it had more skins for each "page" maybe id think about it, can you make your own skins for it? If you can id be interested as i could make a honeycomb-ish one.
let us know what the battery life is like with all that home screen animation. Also, what ROM are you on? Did it install like a regular Home app like LauncherPro? Are you able to switch between this and other home apps?
Oh and would you mind taking a video of it on the tab? How does it look in landscape mode?
IMO everything ist too big. Icons, Widgets, etc fit better on smaller screen sizes.
I uninstalled it. Its very, very nice but i wait for a tablet-optimized release!
from the brief go I had with it , I couldnt get it in Landscape lol..
I gave this a quick try. And its pretty crap to be honest. I couldn't get any of the 3d Widgets to work, should be 2$
swyped from a galaxy far far away...

Right I used SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 on my Nokia N97, there were really lots of skins available.
I thought Samsung Galaxy Tab was not supported yet ?
They say its not supported for tablets because they're working on a tablet specific app.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA Premium App
Just gave it a try. Not worth those 15 bucks. Even more if compare to LauncherPro (which is a LOT more configurable). It could have been a nice shot for a cheaper price, but beside those 3D effects it doesn't relly offer anything more than Launcher Pro or any other launcher in the market. I have LP running both on my Galaxy Tab and Desire HD and it is way better on both devices.
I've bought it, but have already installed. I agree that the graphics are to big for the G Tab. I had other problems too. Like when I click on the time it doesn't open the clock. Same thing with the alarm...
You can't customize the panels. Most of then are the way they idealized it, and you can't change. The carrousel is beautiful but not that useful. It doesn't compare to Launcher Pro or ADW in terms of customization.
Way too expensive!

Battery life seems unaffected, I haven't noticed a dip from normal. I'm running Overcome Rom, OC to 1.4GHZ. Yes it works like any other launcher, can switch back and forth as you'd like. Currently it's only designed to work in portrait mode. I imagine a Tablet version will be coming, that will make use of landscape mode.
I'll see about making a short video of usage on the Tab.
I think it makes the tab look like a cheap knockoff with the big clunky graphics lol

"Not supported" isn't the same as "doesn't work on it". It runs fine. Maybe it's not Gingerbread compatible.
All of SPB's apps are overpriced, I feel this should be only $10, it is quite good although it's not without its limitations, and its massive memory footprint.
Ill probably wait for the tablet version with a landscape mode before getting this. Wouldn't want to show it off to my iPad friends , only for them to turn it sideways and see it doesn't work that way.
Sent from my undervolted Galaxy Tab running Overcome 1.3
