HELP with Asus P750 - General Topics

I've just bought an Asus P750 and let me tell you... It's beautiful!!! Incredibly fast and very light. The only problem is I can't make the gps to work. I've updated the setings but it just doesn't catch the signal. In the right side there is a part that says GPS that comes off. Do i need an external antena?? How can I make it work? Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

p750 has an in-built gps unit,u will need to go out into the open and use a gps map navigation program like mapking or navfone.
if u r inside a building or under a shelter, the gps signal will not be strong enough.

I had problems with gps on P750 too. I use iGO6 and I had to add in Sys.txt this text:
[gps]
port=5
speed=57600
protocol=sirf
Tomtom isn't working on my P750 and iGO8 show me wrong actual position.

The best start with any new navigationsoftware on the ASUS P750 is to download the GPS Catscherfiles. Then one should let iGO or any other search for itselves, iGO+GARMIN will locate the GPS on its own.
In TT6 v6.032.8351 you choose the GPS port after choosing the other BT GPS.

Route 66 Navigate 7 on VOX

It works, but same problem as with TomTom, no keys - only fake cursor
What version are you using? After trying a few of the 'trial' versions out on the Net, I finally plunked down the cold hard cash for the retail version. After installing and then installing the update from Route 66's website, it works great with the d-pad and softkeys. I'm on version 7.0.3995 and it's by far the best Smartphone-compatible nav software I've tried. It doesn't support landscape though, and their support people couldn't tell me if a landscape version is in the works or not.
Also, if you're trying to pan the map via the d-pad, that doesn't work on any version of R66 for the Smartphone. The only way to pan is to navigate around current GPS location without setting a destination. Rather limited in my opinion, but R66 support also said they had no plans on changing that functionality.
I have just copied files from CAB to phone and made shortcut, i am using PDA version 7.0.970.1 There are only 2 files: /programm files/route 66/R66Navigate7PPC.exe and /windows/R66WCESetupDLL.dll
R66 7 smartphone
Hi,
i'm running a R66mobile7 build 7.0.2992 and works perfectly.... no need to use a ppc version

but i can not find configuration for GPS how to connect it with BT GPS wich is on COM7 ?
at programm startup it just shows that GPS not found.
did you add bluetooth serial port after pairing gps device ??
I got ir working. Started TomTom, connected to BT GPS, started R66, and in strange way it connected to BT GPS, closed TomTom and R66 still working. And now it work every time, even without tomtom
very strange way... i only need to launch the program to make it work....
quits
MY Route 66 crashes just after i have selected the map

Imate 8502 GPS Problem?

Hi guys,
Recently I bought Imate 8502. Everything works fine. I have installed tomtom 6.01 for wm6 (which works fine on my other htc p3600i)
Now problem in in Imate 8502 when i go in to the settings>External GPS>Hardware... it shows me "gps Hardware port "(none)". If I select any port and press ok and open it again, again it shows "(none)" in gps hardware port. So whts wrong with that.
Also tomtom is not working in Imate 8502. in tomtom software setting doesn't show gps port.(like in htc p3600i gps settings shows that gps in com9). I tried too much to solve this problem but got failure and failure. So I am asking help from any expert here.
Please help me.. I want to run GPS software in Imate 8502
Thanks in advance
1. u need to turn on gps manually
2. u need GPSgate
Thanks
Thanks netnerd,
well i turned it on manually as well but same things happens ?
by the way how does gpsgate will help in this problem? I have no idea of this software.. Though i have downloaded demo but I am not getting this software
thanks bro !!
waiting for your reply
tomtom cant see your build-in gps port
GPSgate will make a virtual gps comm port that gps programs able to see
Need Some knowledge
Dear Chintak i also have an 8502 but still serching for upgrade as u said u upgraded it with tomtom it realy works and how is the procedure to upgrade
will appriciate help .
hi ayesha,
I didn't upgraded anything in imate, I just installed tomtom for ppc.
but tomtom can't read gps port so m looking for another option
OK - hope this helps some....
I have the I-mate 8502, and TomTom 6 running fine.
Things I did:
- Installed TomTom...
- Went to Wireless Manager and enabled GPS. These are my GPS settings by tab (can get to them via Wireless Manager):
>Programs: GPS program port - COM9 (default setting
>Hardware: No GPS port specifed (not needed) and baud rate 4800 (again not needed) - these are default settings
>Access: Manage GPS automatically is checked (again default)
The only setup in TomTom was to set the GPS device to the IMEA option.
TomTom should see the device, but display a message that no gps satellites found or it searching. It usually takes a couple of minutes for the GPS to pass through satellite information to TomTom first time but it then works great.
Running the Telstra WM6 Rom
I followed Rathalian's instructions and it worked perfectly for me too.
I did have to select COM9 as the COM Port of the GPS device in Tom Tom Configuration.
I am also using a Telstra WM6 ROM.
Thanks everybody its working now thank you very much everyone
i-mate 8502: Anybody sells display or phone? /alguién vende pantalla o teléfono?
Good afternoon, folks
I was relatively happy with my i-mate ultimate 8502 till I dropped it and the display broke.
As I'm against buying new stuff if you can at a reasonable price fix something, I'm asking:
is anybody willing to sell almost altrusistically a display or even the whole phone? We could do it through the normal channels (paypal, google, ebay, whatever). Or in person, I'me based in Spain.
Warm regards,
Manuel

Samsung Omnia i900 running iGO8 using Royaltek GPS TMC

Hi Guys,
I am facing strange problem on newly bought Samsung Omnia i900 phone while running iGO8. When I use it with internal GPS it works well but when I try to change that to use external one it just quits! Strange, isn't it?
I want to use external GPS (which is Royaltek) because it give TMC information also on it. When I click on detect TMC it discovers Royaltek and then immediately iGO quits with no warning.
Anyone seen this problem before? Please suggest something, I bought omnia mainly for IGO8 and TMC combination.
iGO Version 8.0.0.41506 Jun 3 2008.

Use GPS port 2 from the settings and then in Igo8 settings ALSO choose the same port with baud rate 4800. Then it will detect it.Might take 5 minutes to lock the first satellites but after that it works like a charm
It's out there
Look at the expansys site under Igo8.
There is a guy on there who uses Royaltek TMC receiver (probably more now) and I think he will help you

Connecting external GPS/TMC receiver
I have Omnia i900 and a Royaltek GPS/TMC (RTG1001) , also GNS GPS/TMC (GNS5843) . If you want to connect external GPS/TMS device to utilise the TMC information, where it is free, you need first to add or pair it with the Omnia (or other PDA/Smartphone). With mine (as I don't know if others are different) the internal GPS is on Com Port 3. Go to start, settings, External GPS. You will then see that the GPS program port is 3, my hardware tab is set to COM9, the access tab has the manage GPS automatically box ticked. OK.
Now go to Start, Settings, connections. Pick Bluetooth, add your gps device, after turning it on (ensure FM aerial is in, put it by a window ledge or sit outside so that you get some sort of feedback that you are receiving signal). You will be presented with all BT devices in range. Your Royaltek will be seen as BlueGPS******, single tap the device and tap next. Enter passcode as 0000 (GNS is nothing/enter or 0000). On the next screen tap advance and tick the Serial port box, then save. Now, still in the Settings & Bluetooth, go to COM Ports tab, select New Outgoing Port, Select your GPS device you just paired with (BlueGPS****** or GNS for example) then tap next, choose COM2 (if available) and untick secure, then finish.
Now after you start iGO8 (NavNgo8) go to gps settings, go to GPS and untick GPS enabled, then choose Port 2 and Baud rate 57600 (or auto, the faster you can get the better), now tick GPS Enabled. You should see the top of screen display GPS driver is successfully conneted. Good! Now untick GPS Enabled again. Tap back arrow. Select TMC. Select settings, select Protocol Royaltek (or GNS if you have theirs), Port 2 & Baud rate 57600. Tick Start Autodetect. You should, after a short time, see TMC Hardware Detected. Tap okay. Now tick Use Auto-tuner. You will see it scanning like a digital radio tuner (TMC part is now working).
note that if you do not get any coloured scan bar....take out the aerial plug & 'rough it up' a bit to make better connection, even with a little abrasive material.
Now back arrow and tap GPS you will see that it has enabled itself. Back out all the way. If you are in a country that broadcasts free TMC there will be the warning triangle appear (depending on signal and events on-route or all etc). TMC doesn't work in the UK for igo8 but it does for igo8R3 (that is...the the new R3maps)
This seemed to automatically turn on the GPS section too. So the trick is to establish TMC before GPS.
If I'm wrong or made error ....Sorry! Mine working fine in landscape & portrait, with the appropriate editing of the data.

TomTom Navigator 6.032(8351)... Not Working on TP

I installed TomTom from my old Artemis to my new TP. The installation went OK but when I run the application it didn't find the GPS device???
I am sure that the TP has built in GPS so I went into the 'Preferences' to make sure the correct GPS device was configured only to find that there is no option to select an internal GPS device???
Is there some major difference between the GPS device in the TP when compared to an Artemis??? Has anyone else had this problem???
I use my TomTom everyday so this is a major problem for me. if I can't get it to run on the TP i'll be going back to my Artemis and sending the TP back!
Any help would be appreciated.
Hiya,
I've just got Tomtom 6.010 working on my Touch Pro.
I had to configure it as 'Other NMEA receiver' - GPS baud rate 9600 - COM4.
That did the trick for me.
I did have to use the GPS tweaks here to make it work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427888
Before these tweaks I left it outside for 45mins and although it could see satellites it never obtained a GPS fix, with the tweaks it takes 20-30 seconds.
Hope that helps.
D.
Why 6?!? Navigator 7 automatically detects the internal GPS, It looks better, It has more functions, You can use newer maps & There's a VGA version.
Thanks very much dav3ywrx...
I did as you suggested and followed the thread and it now works fine.
I will upgrade to version 7 once my 8GB card arrives because the v7 maps are huge!!!
Anyway thanks again for the help

lg incite internal gps

i have been trying to use tomtom with lg ct810 incite. however no luck getting it to connect to internal gps. or any other program for that fact. does at&t lock gps to navigator somehome. any help would be appreciated
any help??
Without having the device (which almost noone here has), it's very difficult to help without a proper rom dump. With a rom dump help can be given.
If you're interested in dumping the rom and posting, here's info on how to do so:

Navigation Software for the Incite.
I have not tried TOM-TOM but i have GarminXT5.0.20w woking while reading the internal GPS on it's own and I have Nav-N-Go's iGO8 working using Franson's GpsGate as a gateway between the internal GPS and the software.
and google maps tool "Locate Me" works fine on it's own with the internal GPS. NEVER change anything under "Start-Settings-System-External GPS"; that is unless you are trying to connect to any GPS other than the internal. I got the Garmin working on second install and it took 2 months for me to get a good version of iGO8 that wasn't laggy on my incite. It can't be too difficult since this is the first phone I ever owned that has an actual operating system.
Look here
Check out this thread in tha ATT wireless forum, and then find a copy of gps gate.

Hi, I have a problem with Igo 8 on my LG Incite. It works fine for me when the phone is plugged in. When the phone is not plugged in, Igo8 doesn't respond to any touches. The screen goes black every time I run Igo8.
Could you share your experience with Igo8. I'd appreciate it.
Thank you.
I have the same problem with Igo8 on my LG incite?
haha20055, did you find the solution yet?
13blackwolf13, Can you give any hint?
Thanks
I own an Incite, subsidized from AT&T. The internal GPS works fine with Google Maps, as well as a geocaching program called WMMiniGPS.
I would like to use the GPS with Streets and Trips loaded on my laptop, but GPSgate on the PPC will not find my GPS port. I have version 2.5 of GPSgate, but it cannot detect anything.
I've read that other users have gotten GPSgate to work on the Incite. Am I missing something? Anyone know what COM port the GPS is on?
Nevermind. I forget to set the GPS to a virtual port through the control panel. It works fine now.
LG Incite GPS problem solved!
I got it working as well but only thanks to GPSGate. It took me some time to find a working serial for it but now it works like a charm. Google Maps works without it for some reason bypassing the GPS receiver lock. iGO8 was a little buggy first but the 14th version I installed worked ok finally It took me about a week to get everything set up.
In the end, I got them all working so if anyone is still having problems they can contact me and I will give them the solution good to go.
On the other hand, does anyone know if I can find a better ROM version? The original one is ok but a little sluggish right out of the box. Thanks
hi every1
i got gpsgate to work. does gpsgate use data on the start up because sometimes when i start gpsgate i see the data icon on the signal bar trying to connect. it connect a few a seconds with a G or a E on the signal bar than disappears. does that mean that gpsgate use data on the start up. i use stop data from lg incite forum and i know that i can not connect to medianet but when i start up gpsgate it looks like its connecting or connects because i get the G or the E on the signal bar. so any help will be appreciated

Problem solve for IGO8 on Incite Phone
I found the solution to the problem It require a line in the sys.txt file to specify the driver=GDI in the rawdisplay section.
[rawdisplay]
driver=GDI
Note: for Amigo use driver="GDI" in the system.ini in the save folder

LG Incite CT 810 with IGO8
Hi Dismass,
Can you show me how to set Port, Baud to make LG work with IGO8
Thanks so much
If you are using GPSGate you can do it from the settings of GPSGate. Mine automatically created virtual COM2 and iGO found it instantly. If yours didn't do that automatically go to settings and create a new virtual port, it's fairly user-friendly so you shouldn't have problems doing that. After that it is just a matter of starting iGO and pointing it to the port you created, baud rate doesn't seem to make any difference on mine btw. Let me know if you are still having problems after that.

GPSGate does not use a data connection, it just grabs the data coming from the gps receiver and sends it to a virtual port that it creates for other software to use simultaneously. The icons you see indicate the availability and signal strength of certain networks (EDGE, GPRS, etc.) although they've been kinda unreliable on mine so I stopped looking at those pretty soon after I got my phone.
