Hey well when i got this phone from HTC, it came with the at&t bloatware on it. I originaly flashed the htc firmware without a radio. Worked fine other then they keyboard drivers were weird since AT&T thought it would be a great idea to change up the keyboard.
So (Unless someone did this already and i didnt see it in the wiki) im cooking up the HTC Firmware with AT&T radio and drivers. anyone know where the keyboard drivers are? i have both ROMs extracted ready to go.
There are no keyboard drivers. It's just a change in the Registry
It's the same change as for the kaiser -> Tilt.
I've attached the cab and it should get the job done. I forgot the registry edit though, you can find it in the very long at&t fuze thread in Raphael general.

so you need the cab along with the registry change?
does it change all the links on the keyboard or just where the numbers and symbols are?

No. It's an either/or thing. Either you get the cab and install it, or you change it in the registery.
It changes everything from keyboard to numbers and symbols to where the special keys (sms, email, etc.) are.
Hey Kraize thanks for this, will have to check the wiki later to see if there is mention of this as it will be a common question in the next week or so.

Don't thank me. Thank TarusBulba. It's his cab, I just renamed it and re-upped it.
cool thanks. New problem though:
I have the HTC box firmware(as explained above) Os only, so i didnt get the radio package. After installing it, to make sure i was up-to-date i went onto the wiki and downloaded the latest radio firmware for AT&T. It seems as if every time i put a SIM in i cant get edge or 3G signal. My house is typically both depending on where your standing and such. Any ideas?
Cool wiki updated

Okay. I think I understand your question, but could you explain exactly what the problem is? I mean do you want a constant signal on 3G or something? I don't understand exactly.
Hi Guys!
I am new to this forum but already amazed by the sheer amount of content on here!
As per the title of the thread, I am a newbie to XDA's and I was wondering if any of you learned gents would be kind enough to point me in the right direction with a few questions I have about my recently acquired O2 XDA Serra. I have done searches and read the WIKI but there are a few points I could not find an answer to so was counting on your help.
The specs of the machine listed in settings -> system -> device information are:
ROM Version: 1.90.206.4 WWE
ROM Date: 09/01/08
Radio Version: 1.02.25.19
Protocol Version: 52.33.25.17H
Model No: Xda_Serra
I have noticed that unlike my girlfriends XDA Ignito (Diamond) my phone did not come with any map software preloaded in spite of the spec sheet saying a GPS chip is built in to the phone. Also unlike with the Diamond there is no separate YouTube application.
So I would be very greatful if any of you fellows can direct me to where I can get some:
1) Good free map software that will work with the XDA Serra and some advice on how to install it (as I read a lot of GPS problems so want to avoid any issues)
2) Tell me how to get the YouTube application on my XDA Serra and again some advice on how to install it
Also I have read MrSkips very useful guide on how to flash a ROM to the raphael and I was wondering what the overall concensus is on which ROM version is the best? Are all released ROMs on here suitable for my XDA Serra?
Also, I have not unlocked my phone and I understand that there is no need to if I want to flash a new ROM on it unless I want to change the radio version or use other SIMs.
Is there any compelling reason why I would want to change the radio version from the one installed presently on the device? Will it serve to boost GSM/3G/GPS Signal?
If so what radio version is considered to be the best and most stable?
I just got the phone today so a bit hesitant to load ROMs on it straight away in case I brick it but I guess you live and learn so all advice to help me get the most out of the device is much appreciated.
Many thanks - you guys ROCK!!!

First let me remind you that the search feature is there and is quite useful. Second to start answering your questions.
As for GPS I use Google Maps. Which can be found here http://www.google.com/mobile/default/maps.html
As far as configuring the software to connect I update the satellites with "QuickGPS" which should be included on your phone. Then I open Google Maps and tell it to use the GPS, I usually have to be outside for it to connect.
For more GPS Stuff check this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427888
As for the Youtube app it may be included on your phone. Check this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448824
And finally as far as the radio is concerned there are a few out there but since the device is so new it will take some time before we know the benefits/downfalls of the different versions. Keep in mind that they may have different results in different areas of the world.
And as for flashing new roms if you have read the sticky located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008 then you should have all of the info needed to be successful. As for which rom it boils down to personal preference just read the threads and make an educated decision from there.
And remember the search feature is your friend.
Im a Fuze/Wm newb too!
When I search my contacts, it has every name doubled. I believe its also showing my SIM contacts. Is there a way to hide it or should I just delete the SIM contacts?
Thanks! (sorry for jumping in your thread OP!)

You can delete the sim contacts by going to the sim manager, selecting all, then delete (make sure not to select delete CONTACTS).
You could also disable viewing the sim contacts by searching for advanced config and look through the 'phone' options. They will then only show up in the sim manager and not the contacts menu.
Lost_Reaver,
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately some of your suggestions do not seem to apply to me.
In particular the GPS and YouTube app.
Please note that the ROM I have on my Raphael is specific to O2 UK and for some reason O2 UK has chosen not to include any of the following applications:
YouTube App
QuickGPS
Google Maps
As far as YouTube app is concerned, I used the search feature prior to posting and checked for the application in the following location: windows->youtube.exe. I did not find anything in the windows folder related to YouTube and as such was wondering if someone could tell me where I can get the YouTube app .cab file to install on my XDA Serra.
The same goes for QuickGPS / GoogleMaps. My XDA Serra does not have either of these applications pre-installed. They are not visible anywhere in the file structure of the device. I have since installed GoogleMaps by getting the .cab and am now having the problem that no matter how long I wait the XDA Serra does not achieve satelite lock.
You say that you are able to get lock using QuickGPS as a reciever prep app? If so where can I get QuickGPS from? Will it work on the XDA Serra? I ask because reviews of the device state that an equivalent to QuickGPS is embedded in the O2 ROM by the operator and for this reason QuickGPS was removed. If so, will installing QuickGPS cause more issues?
Anyone with a UK O2 XDA Serra care to comment?
Many thanks!

You can download Google maps for free. Use the link above within your devices browser.
Anyone with an UK XDA Serra who can help????

I have attached the latest version of Advanced config below.
@NCU1980
I have attached QuickGPS, Google Maps, and the Youtube app ripped straight from my phone.
QuickGPS and Google Maps are CABs and the Youtube app needs to go in the "Windows" directory.

Lost_Reaver,
Your YouTube app .zip file did not work but I eventually managed to find both a streaming video .cab file and a youtube app .cab file for VGA resolution and it works great.
QuickGPS for some reason also did not work no matter what location I downloaded the file from your upload or others. However I installed GPS Tweaks and GPS Test and was able to get a signal on googlemaps with a couple up to 5 satelites. All be it a pretty weak one so going to try to do the GPS lag fix and maybe change radio to try to upgrade this issue.
The advance config utitlity works great and I did not know this existed so thanks for that!
Best,

Has anyone figured out why the Shut Down button on psShutXP only turns the phone's screen off? Can anyone help fix it?
Hermes by any chance? Do you have a poweroffwarning.exe in the windows folder? Mine doesn't, and I've had no luck getting it working either. It seems that it is done differently using gwes.exe on my phone.

i think it is because htc removed the shutdown command from the library. Try dave shaws xda-shutdown. It calls the shutdown.exe and actually allows you to shut the phone down.
go here to grab a copy
I really like psShutXP though. Therefore, I am determined to fix it. Holyfox created a VGA fix. From what I've gathered in other forums, psShutXP simply calls up the wrong exe in some devices (in my case, the Kaiser). All I need to do is change the path for the shut down function right? This will be my first "programing venture." I know a lot about every aspect of computers and programing except for the actual programing.
I could really use some guidance if anyone is willing to point me in the right direction. Im not asking for a hand out. I have checked the registry as well as trying to decompile the exe. I am using resource tuner, which I played around editing MS Calculator and it was fairly simple. However, when I went to edit psShutXp.exe, the only things of significance that I only saw are the gif file and a dialog box for the timer. Neither of them actually help me. The only other files i can tell that are associated with the program are to readme.txt files.
Once again, I am not asking for you to do this for me. I want to learn. Any guidance would be helpful! Thanks in advance.
I think Aserg has got it working. Didnt test it yet myself coz I dont have access to downloading from office. But you can check out his post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1141775&postcount=168

I wanted to install a trial version of the telmap navigator and unfortunately, I did not find it in the list. there is another device that is similar to my touch cruise
I dont know if you are still looking for the answer to this but TelMap advised me to use the Kaiser download. Everything seems to work well on it too, though make sure you have a generous data tariff as it will access this quite frequently if you do not follow the route it suggests.
just installed kaiser version worked fine.
only thing i did on top was to delete the background.jpg file as it didnt fit the screen reso.
could also edited the splash screen if wanted to.

Sorry Replying to the wrong thread there...
Hi -- I just downloaded the new version of Bing. I'm running it on an HTC Sedna with Windows Mobile 6.1. It _seems_ to work fine on my phone. Fine except for the fact that within a minute or two I get a message which says "Your device has been identified as not supported for this application," after which Bing shuts down. Any ideas on how to get around this? This software is supposed to work with WM 6.1 phones and it seems to do so until Microsoft pulls the plug!
Thanks, Alan
Are you using a cooked ROM?
I suggest you to install it on a emulator and see what happens
Thanks -- no, I'm using the standard HTC ROM. (I don't even think there ARE any cooked ROMS for this phone!)
I've never dealt with an emulator, so I don't immediately know how to do what you're suggesting, nor do I have a sense of how time consuming that would be. But would it be worthwhile to go down that road? If Bing worked on the emulator, how would that help me figure out how to make it work on my phone?
I wonder if there's a way to tell Bing that I've got a different kind of phone. I suspect that would fix this. Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks!
Alan
Ok, but you can share where you got the installation file(just to do a test here).
Thanks.
Yes -- I got it from here:
http://static.appserver.m.bing.net/binaries/winmo/v1/Bing.CAB
I was running the previous version of Bing, and the program sent me to this link to get the updated version (which then gives me errors about my phone not being supported).
Thanks, Alan
Thanks very much, I'm going to test it.
Wait some time...
That's terrific! Thanks so much!

Bing...
Works OK on Diamond 1 with stock 6.1 ROM. Not sure if I like it or not..
Right -- I know it works on other WM 6.1 phones. I'm wondering how to run it on mine. I suspect the solution is to make Bing think I'm using a Diamond or some other phone it knows it's compatible with. Anyone know how to do this? What does it use to figure out what sort of phone I have?
Thanks, Alan
It's working on my emulator.
Have you already tried another version?
I don't really understand what you're asking ... I've run this program on two different (stock WM 6.1) HTC P6500s with the same result: it works fine a little while, then I get a message that I'm not using a supported device and the software shuts down. I don't know how running this on an emulator would help me fix the problem. I know that the software works fine on Diamonds, Touch Pro2, Diamond 2, and other officially-supported WM 6.1 phones. And I know that the software detects my P6500 as not supported and therefore will stop working after a while.
SO: the question is how to get Bing to believe I'm using a phone that it considers supported? I've tried replacing P6500 with T5353 (Touch Diamond 2) in a couple of places in the registry:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ActiveSync\DeviceModel
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\Post Platform
But it doesn't seem to make a difference ....
Does anyone have any other ideas about how I might fix this?
Thanks,
Alan
I think that change these registrys:
Code:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ActiveSync\ DeviceModel
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\Post Platform
Isn't a very good thing, because this can turn your device unstable.
PS: I'm going to Google for some solution.
I need one thing to solve your problem as fast as I can. It's the error code.
Thanks.
Thanks so much ... Yeah, I didn't leave those registry changes on long: just a quick experiment.
OK, forgive my ignorance, but how can I find out the error code to tell you?
Thank you!
Alan
Error in images, this is after being cooked in, works for a few min but than get a compatibility error and shuts down
Interesting -- that's a different error than the one I get, though mine generally comes up around the same time. Mine says "Your device has been identified as not supported for this application."
How do we find error codes for these?
Alan
It seems they have the same root, this has been cooked in I was hoping to go "around" the not supportive error that you get with the cab file.
Since I took it out of my build I think the best way will be to run it cooked in an emulator to get it.
Huh, interesting...
I'm going to take a better look on this.
