Volume keys open battery pop up - Palm Treo 750

hi. my tro started about 10 days ago to open the battery pop up window when i press them, they don't control no more the volume settings, and with soft resets change nothing. I didn't install any app but spb weather, that i've already uninstalled.
it also doesn't connect to my mac via BT and missing sync 3 since the same date...
any suggestion before the hard reset?

It is is a known Bug of the SPB Products.

Or they could just use the fix issued by SPB and linked to in Ronv's post. no need to reinvent the wheel on this one.

with does power off equal hide all apps

I'd really like to be able to put my device to sleep, without having to background whatever app I'm using.
It's very strange. I don't think I've seen another phone that doesn't have a separate power button, from the exit this app button.
Any ideas?
Hmm.
No one has any idea?
I know that riddled throughout this board there are probably a half a dozen apps to turn off your phone, and activate the keylock. Does anyone have any suggestions for some good ones, that I could then assign to the "hold and run" button on the left of the Treo?
Ones that work with WM6?
I'm really surprised that other people don't even seem to want or care about this. The only real advantage of WM6 over PalmOS .. to me... are things like multitasking.
What good is a phone that won't let you keep an app on the screen? Why would I want to constantly have to bring apps to the front again and again and again? I want to be able to turn off my phone, turn it on.. make an entry in an app, and turn it off again, all without opening and closing the app.
Gee.. how strange!
WM devices are 'Today' screen based, hence it automatically switch back to Today screen after a set period of time. You can't change this 'habbit', but you can prolong the period of time.
Start -> Settings -> Personal -> Today -> Items -> Today timeout

This has nothing to do with what I'm asking about, but it is helpful info. However, my today option has the ability to turn off the today timeout altogether. Perhaps it is WM6 based?
Regardless, I'm talking.. again.. about the screen off button of the treo.. that is also the exit button, that is also the end call button.

Lets quote what you have said above. "What good is a phone that won't let you keep an app on the screen? Why would I want to constantly have to bring apps to the front again and again and again? I want to be able to turn off my phone, turn it on.. make an entry in an app, and turn it off again, all without opening and closing the app."
If you turn off the timeout, the last app will stay when you switch off your phone (e.g. the Today will not appear and sending your app background).
If this REALLY doesnt have NOTHING to do with what you are asking for, I surrender and good luck on your quest.

I had two separate posts above, and of course they are related in this thread. Context, my man. My first post clearly talks about how my issue is with the power button, and how my issue has to do with the power button forcing you back to the today screen before it will let you power off the unit.
Fair enough, you missed my first post, and only read my second post in this same thread. No harm done.
I am also mystified why the power button constantly forces screen back to Home....I would think this is a real pain for most people??
Any fixes/hacks?
TIA
To do what you want, there's an usefull application: AE Button Plus (http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php) This small applicacion allows you to remap buttons. To switch off the screen what I've done is assign the action "switch off device"

I tried AEBP but this only seems to "Switch Display On/Off" during a phone call, NOT when in an application.
I don't see a "Switch Off Device" option. Did I miss something?

I found "Power off" (I think it was called that) in the list of options to assign to a button. I assigned it to "hold side button", one click. My device now shuts off when I hold that button in.
Thanks to the dude that suggested this! Now to see how it affects my device...

touchpro made easier?

hey,
a few issues i have with the phone, one being the fact that to turn on the wifi, i have to go to settings and manually turn it on, which isnt that big of a deal, but then when i want to turn it off, i have to repeat these steps.
Is there anyway to have a shortcut button for turning the wifi on or off.
as well, sometimes when i push the calander button on the home screen, it doesnt register , at least not until 5 more presses. Is this something to do with the performance?
I recently posted on the tweaks thread, asking exactly how i can apply the performance tweaks, so if those tweaks would help in any way, it would help alot to have some guidance on how to apply them.
thanks alot. hope to hear.

well ive run into another wall.... i found the advanced config app, as well as gyrator 2, but when i try to open them after installation, it tells me i need a newer version of wondows net compact framework. I downloaded version 3.5, and when i tried opening it, it told me a newer version exists and needs to be uninstalled first.
if there is a newer version already on the phone, then why dont the above mentioned apps work?
i appreciate the previous response, but this seems to be the route of my problem....any help?>
thanks again.
You could edit the registry to change the left or right soft keys to point to the comm manager, or you could install this:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2581729
I use version 5.1. It's great : ) Once installed it will be assigned to the left soft key of the home tab. When you activate it, a nine button menu pops up giving access to common tasks, two of which are to toggle bluetooth and wifi on and off : )
Give it a go....
thanks ouzo, that worked incredibly!!
The only remaining issue i have is not being able to download advanced config, due to a problem with outdated microsoft framework..... which version should i get so that everything will work fine?

Hardware keyboard slide annoyance!

Hi guys,
I went from loving my Touch Pro to almost throwing it at a wall!
This keyboard slide-out issue is driving me nuts, whenever I want to type something using the hardware keyboard, I slide it out and the damn landscape TF3D menu gets displayed ON TOP of whatever page I'm on.
I've tried the disable landscape registry trick (HKCU\SOFTWARE\HTC\Manila\landscape=false then soft reset) which works... but after a while (a few minutes or after some program or some random thing) it stops working and I have to either reset the phone or turn the reg key back to "true".
Is there any way at all to prevent the keyboard slide showing the landscape menu or at least prevent the menu from being on top of the current app?
For example I go to reply an SMS (I even tried waiting on the cursor to blink a few times, 2 - 3 secs) then slide out the keyboard to type and the stupid 8 icon menu goes on top of my message entry page, I have to choose 'messaging' app from the list of running apps to get back to that page, it really defeats the purpose of having a hardware keyboard!
Thanks guys for reading the rant.

What ROM are you currently using?
I had that issue too, I got rid of the theme I was using and stuck to the original HTC theme and I no longer have that problem!
I'm using Da_G's Clean ROM with his standard Manila install afterwards.
I've recently uninstalled the EzInput/T9 package from HTC and it seems to be behaving itself for now (it's been 2 hours with minimal use), like I said before it happens randomly. I don't know if it was because of the EzInput or something else because this seems to go away after every soft reset then comes back unexpectedly.
Thanks.

I had the issue using the RRE ROMs and ended up removing HTC Volume Control and it solved the problem completely.
Hrm I see to be having the issue again. How do I remove the HTC Volume Control?
I don't have any of this because I dumped the TF3D. Much happier and trouble/issue free without it. Euro device using stock rom.
OK I can confirm that it is the HTC Volume Controls that is causing this!
So from my previous post I tried to uninstall HTC EZinput which seemed to have fixed it but like I originally said the problem seems to happen out of nowhere after some time using the device.
So after reading the post above about HTC Volume Control, I pressed the vol down button, then this problem started happening again. I did a soft reset and no more problem after a while I pressed the vol button again and it happened again!

Problem solved!
I had this problem for ages (as long as I have my Raphael, I think), and I couldn't track it down on the internet. Some time ago I found a post on XDA describing the problem but I can't find it again. Finding this post made me think.
I installed the aforementioned "volume control from JMZ" (I had extremely hard time finding it) and I didn't like it because it did something strange with my system font but it solved the problem. After few unsuccessful tries to fix the font (btw does anyone know how to fix this?) I decided to uninstall it. And the problem didn't return.
So what was the problem? Well… when I bought the phone I wanted (as many of you did) to change those ugly taskbar icons including volume icons contained within HTCVolumeControl.dll. And I did it by finding the dll file with the prettiest icons here on XDA (and maybe I changed some of them using the described procedure, I really can't remember now). However, that dll is the main culprit for the bug described in this post. Was it already broken when I found it, or I somehow broke it it's irrelevant now.
So the solution is: you don't have to install anything. Just delete HTCVolumeControl.dll from Windows folder, i.e. rename it using for example Resco File Explorer and then soft reset the device so that original file from ROM can be restored. Yes, the ugly icons will return but at least now you'll now where to look if this bug reappears. After that go and some find pretty volume icons, and again follow the procedure how to change them.
I have no idea how the file got corrupted in the first place (maybe there is some corrupted dll roaming the xda forum ) but after this episode I make changes only directly on the original dll (the one from ROM) and every time it was successful. I changed many icons until I found my favorites.
Cheers!

Help! ( Touch Pro 2, home screen reversion )

Hey all,
First, I'd like to say that so far the Touch Pro 2 is freaking awesome, but It's been doing something since I got it that is driving me up the wall;
So, say I'm in gsplayer or Opera, and for whatever reason, the screen turns off ( I hit the power button, it times out for power conservation, whatever... ). Whenever I turn the screen back on, the Clock in Touch Flow 3D shows up. GAH >_<
Is there any way to just open the phone back up to what I was looking at when the screen turned off? Help me XDA-Developers, you're my only hope!
-AceSmythe
update:
I went to the home configuration and disabled TouchFlo 3D , and it doesn't revert to the home screen when I reset
Does anyone know how to tell TouchFlo 3D to not re-assert itself every time I turn the screen on? I didn't see anything obvious in the registery
Thanks,
AceSmythe
I have a Touch Diamond 2 and i don't have this problem..
When i just hit the power button to turn the screen off, and 1 minute later when i turn it back on, everything is still the same as i left it. All the programs are still opened.
Maybe you hit the right 'hang up' key?? Because when you press it you go back to the homescreen
I'm pretty sure I know the difference between the power button at the top of the device and the hang up button near the bottom, thanks.
Anyone around who actually has a Touch Pro 2?
I have this issue with my Blackstone, using Duttys 3.9.
I have seen this issue before and as far as i have found out there is no soution to this. The only thing that could help is turning off the Msofts LOCK app. Unfortunately mine is on due to exchange security policy.
If your lock is not on, then im afraid i dont know

What does that app do and how would I turn it off?
I also went into the registry and disabled the Home tab for TouchFlo 3D, but the issue persists
( registry entry HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Configuration\0\Enable , set to 0 )
To any who are curious, this appears to be a viable method of removing Home, Programs, and Settings from the TouchFlo 3D tabs. On my device, 0 is Home, 2 is Programs, and 12 is settings
On another note that's completely unrelated, don't install the SRSwow control panel if you don't have drivers/hardware for it. It completely crippled the speakers and mic on the phone, and Voice Command ( voicecommand.exe ) freaked out whenever I tried to start it. Luckily, removing the software through Start -> Settings -> System -> Remove Programs and doing a full reset fixed everything
( above 2 paragraphs included for people Googling either issue )
Anyway, back to the home screen thing... any other thoughts?

If you are using the lock app (which locks the screen) you can turn it off/on by going to (on my HD) settings/all settings/personal/lock and disable it if enabled.
It may not help you, but is a known issue regarding this particular problem.
Greetz.
Have you unchecked the today timeout?
Go to Settings/Personal/Today/Items and make sure it's unchecked.

Sorry for the lateness of this post, after a full wipe and reinstall of everything ( after the TouchFlo 3D disaster mentioned above ) the home screen does not assert itself anymore. Per suggestion, I did not enable the lock. I'd test turning on the lock and off again, but I don't want to push my luck
Thanks one and all

Question Navifly 7862 Stuck in a Loop

My nav app (Google Maps) is set to start on boot. After the unit boots, it loads and runs the nav app; normally at this point I can leave the nav app and use another app; but now it repeatedly switches to the nav app when I try to visit any other app and every second I see the top bar changing as if to be switching to the nav app. If I try to go to settings, I will see the settings screen for one second and then find myself back in the nav app. I cannot get the nav app out of the start up area in one second, so I need to boot the unit without it running the startup apps.
Is some nav app button shorted somewhere? I have nothing connected to the CAN bus as my car has no steering wheel controls.
How can I boot into a "safe mode"-like environment so that I may take the nav app out of the startup app area?
Do I need to enter "recovery mode"? How do I do that on the 7862?
The reset "button" has not helped.
Please advise.

Sorry friend, I could find no such posts after searching for, "7862 recovery," and, "7862 boot loop." Still waiting on Navifly's response.
Update:
Inching through the menus, using repeated quick-finger attempts and heavy use of the go-back button:
In General: Auto-start Navigation: OFF. (This had no effect.)
In General: Launcher App Setting: Not Set. (This had no effect.)
In User: Application Setting: Navi: OFF. Now the nav app is no longer launching every second; however, every second, the bar that is normally at the top of the screen, that shows the time and has a home icon in the top-left corner and the go-back icon in the top-right corner, is shifting up and hiding every second. This is essentially causing the screen to "bounce."
I can now however, enter the Factory area.
Any ideas?
Okay, I did an Erase-all factory reset and all appears to be well again.
A weird problem and lesson in failing to backup my unit.

They responded with not understanding my request, which was very simply worded; I'm afraid the language barrier is too great to get the recovery mode by hardware instructions at this time.
May have to resort to running a terminal app that will transmit a recovery mode command. The developer options has a debug by USB option, so there may be a way to connect a laptop and enter recovery mode from there if you thought to activate this option and leave it turned-on (which mine now is).

This does not work on the sc9853i and uis7862 units built by FYT. They are all Release builds, which means that adb over wifi is disabled as per Android design.
Next to that: there is no way of booting in recovery mode on FYT units already since 2015. The recovery mode is very simple a autostarting binary that (1) tries find new firmware on a an attached USB-stick/SD-card or (2) tries to boot in safe mode. And it is signed with the rest of the firmware, meaning that replacing it with a custom recovery will break auto-updating and break auto-recovery flashing an original firmware.
No possibility to do anything "developer-like" in recovery mode.
Take a look at my sc9853i Q&A thread (in my signature). The principal working and explanations are all the same. binaries and files have updated file names on the uis7862 and that has been mentioned in several other threads.

But I still have a problem, I do not have an update to place on an USB stick, not even the original one.
