I want to install apps into my SD card but one thing I don't know what to do is how on earth I select a specific folder where I want to install it?
I don't like having programs installed in the root sd folder I want it to be more like:
/storage card/programs
I use Dell Axim X30 with Windows Mobile 2003 SE
I heard that it can be tweaked with Resco Registry Editor but what do I have to do??

find a Key fAskDest and change it's value from 0 to 1.
Alternatively you can also use this great program if you're installing directly from your SD Card

thanks alot everything works I managed it to work using reg tweaking but it still doesnt see al folders in my sd card. I created a folder Programs and I couldnt see it till i moved it to another folder "My documents" which is located on my sd card as well. wtf?!? :?
I have some files on my 4GB mem card in my kaiser and I want to copy them off. The problem is the only files that seem to copy are mp3's. None of my photos, or other files copy at all.
I tried to remove the mem card and put it in my card reader but it asks me to format it first.
Is there a file sharing plugin/software I can install on my kaiser to make it easier to copy files from-to my Kaiser?
P.S. yes, i turned off the convert settings..
u tried WM5 storage? might not work but worth a try.
tried the wm5torage program. It seems to work on WM6 but again, I was nailed by the NEED TO FORMAT error similarly to when I put the mem card in my reader.
I downloaded a free PPC FTP client and am currently FTPing files to my desktop.

I don't know when or how it happens, but suddenly my microSD card is somehow encrypted. At least, there is a .menc file on it.
Now I can't copy or erase any files to it, neither using ActiveSync nor a card reader. I can't format it either, by any means. I tried everything, formatting using card reader, Pocket Mechanic, delete the disk partition within XP... nothing!
Even in file explorer, using my Cruise, I can't erase my files, format, anything!!
Somebody please help me!
It looks more as if your card was broken, not encrypted. Otherwise you should be able to format it in any case. Usually micro SD do not have any write protection switch, but in any case check if it is write protected.

Are you using WM6.0 or WM6.1 ?
Reason I ask is that it has been widely reported that a bug in WM6.1 prevents SD encryption from being turned ON.
I use WM6.1. I'm starting to think that my microSD card is broken.
I can't format it, copy files to it, delete files from it... but I can still see all files on it!
Looks like FAT is somehow stuck, so it can't be modified. That's why I can't do any changes in the card.

A small problem for a WM6 noob: having a BA with WM6 installed. On a sd card, a program was installed but I lost the sd card and replace it with a new one. On executing some programs it launches the following error:cannot execute Storage card/program files/enalarmppc/enalarmppc.exe
What I guess is that the reference for the program is still in the registry. How can I delete that?

SK Tools will do the trick by cleaning your registry...

I accidentally deleted the driver's folder in the registry.
now I can't access the sd card and activesync doesn't connect anymore.
my device is a PNA called axxion gps 374 with wince 4.2.
I still see the desktop and the resident flash, I can issue commands from the prompt.
Is there a way to re-enable sd and usb drivers or access the resident flash?
