Member of HoFo but came over here to post this to all you techies. Thanks for the help in advance.
I loaded Pocket Mechanic 2.23 and had it do it's registry cleanup and it removed some essential registry entries that now prevent Voice Command (preloaded 1.5) to run. I am getting the 'Voice Command has encountered a problem. Restart Voice Command and try again' endless loop error. I'm not sure if any of you have encountered this problem (yet) so be forwarned I DON'T want to hard reset and reload all my software and I suspect it's a missing key (or keys) in the registry that Pocket Mechanic ripped out (lesson learned...). Does anybody know how to dump the Registry into a .Reg File and upload to this site? I would like re-install the missing reg entries from that file, preferably dumping from a hard reset default state. Any help would be appreciated. I'm using the Treo 750 (Cingular ROM) that just got released.
Thanks again!

Have the same problem. Are you able to dump the registry for us? Really hate to do a hard reset...

I've been struggling for the past few days to convert my (working) Voice Command UK cab into an OEM. I've taken the OEM for the US Voice Command from Alex's ROM Kitchenfor reference, but I'm having problems. I've tried:
- Replacing the files inside the US OEM with those from the UK cab, and changing the file names in the reg file,
- Making an OEM from the files and registry entries in the cab
- Making an OEM from the files in the cab, and the registry entries that show as changed in a reg dump before and after installation
So far, the best I can manage is for Voice Command to be assignable to a button, but then she doesn't speak! It understands some commands (for example, pressing and saying "Open Windows Media Player" will open WMP, but without her being able to talk the applications 90% useless).
I'm sorry to be asking to take up the time of our experts, but I'm at a serious brick wall and don't know which way to go now. Could anyone suggest where I'm going wrong? I can't seem to attache the working US OEM, the working UK cab, and the non-working UK OEM (keeps saying Upload Failed), so I've stuck them on MegaUpload: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=210FSFHW
Thanks for reading, and for any help everyone.

Thanks for the reply Laurentius.
The initflashes file has the same two entries as the original US OEM version, a link going to the helpfile, and a link to Voicecmd.exe going into the Startup folder. I'm not saying that's NOT where my problem lies (haven't got a clue where it is!) but I've even checked the links through Notepad and they're pointing to the right files.
Should probably say, don't try installing any Voice Command on your ROM, as the VC program doesn't play well with the Vodafone 3.08 ROM. It works fine on the 3.02 ROM, so I'm using a custom version of Slueth's 6.1 ROM at the moment. It works fine with the cab installed, so I don't think the ROM is the reason my OEM's not working.
Thanks again for the reply, any and all help is very greatly appreciated for my little problem.
What I usualy do is....
Install the cab and check the directory's and shortcut directory's!
In your case you have the US cab already, so next one is easy!
I use Registry Workshop to Explore and dump registry entry's on the device!
So if you compare the values with the US one's it should be easy!
I just released my V4 ROM, but I promise I will look into it later
Regards,
Leo

I have a working OEM package for UK VC 1.60.4622.0. There is one annoyance however and that is if you open the Voice Command settings and then hit OK you get two error bleeps and a window titled 'Voice Command' with a red cross and the text 'Cannot save all changes'. Voice Command does work though, however I have only had my Kaiser a few days and I haven't done any extensive testing - I probably need to go for a drive with my Bluetooth Headset and call a few people....
I created this package previously for my HTC Wizard and with WM6 running on that I don't get the same error.
To get this working on the Kaiser all I have done is changed the Key mapping in the .RGU registry file so the top left button (6) activates VC.
If I install the VC UK Cab the error I described does go away.

Just a quick update. I rebuilt my ROM with VC 1.60.4622.0 US (this is the original OEM package I found that I based my UK OEM one on, I can't quite remember where I got this?) and you get the same results with the two error bleeps and the 'Cannot save all changes' dialogue box.

i'm just quickly looking at it. Theres some missing files like comt3s51.dll, conveng.dbr and some random dlls here and there. Not sure what they do, but missing couple files here and there could be it. i have to get going, but decide to help with that.
I am having some problems with SoftKEy app. I am trying to get it to launch the windows calendar, but for some reason it lists calendar, but attempts to load HTCcalendar.exe which I am not running. Can someone please tell me how to fix this?
I just made you a cab that should fix the problem.
Copy this over to your phone, run it then soft reset.
you could also take a look at the WiKi site. There is a registry entry that you can change as well. for some reason 112 and 113 stick in my head...

That did the trick duprade! Thanks it worked like magic!
Not a problem.
Whenever my phone wakes up from a sleep or I end a phone call, three error messages pop up saying that I'm missing three different files.
Yesterday, I installed some weather apps to try out, but I forgot to backup my regs. So when I uninstalled them, they must not have cleaned up too well and still try to run!
Three errors are:
Cannot execute \program files\Outerdepth\KPWeather\KPWeather.exe
Cannot execute \program files\nrg\chomeminiweather\weather.exe
Cannot execute \program files\nrg\chomeminiweather\monitor.exe
I searched the registry and found some registry entries in the Mort process key. Deleted those. Error still persists.
There is nothing in startup like these. No program files to look for because the folders aren't there.
I just want my phone to go back to normal. Preferably without hard reset.
Please help this fool. :'(
EDIT:
Forgot to say, I'm using a Samsung Omnia i910. Upgraded to compact.net framework 3.5, if that is relevant.
Perhaps this would be more appropriate in each packages
thread?
EDIT:
Please refer to these links respectively

Done with it.
I just decided that it was better to hard reset the phone. The trouble and hours I spent on this weren't worth it, and I just wanted to get back to enjoying my phone.
Maybe these posts will get some sort of exposure and have the problem solved so the next person can find it.
I went the same route and hard reset the phone as well. Oh well!
try reinstalling them and then uninstalling them using SKTools
oh.. and then perform a cleanup using SKTools
still..
.. after using SKtools on a Polaris (uninstall, cleaning up, in normal and safe mode, you name it) I still get the same annoying message.
is there any solution to this?
thanx
alex.
That annoys me totaly. SKTools don't fix the problem. I only could fix it with a dummy exe file. But don't have tested it. It would be nice if the coder of
NRG Mini Chome Weather 1.2.1 + Monitor BJ Version.cab

Never saw an app like that. No registry key, no startup files, but annoying error messages.
Hi, I'm pretty much a noob to this forum as you can see from my number of posts.
Recently got a HTC Iolite and been reading the forums, there are some things that I wasn't able to find, so I thought I'd just ask about it here.
Programs affecting interface
Currently I have the following installed, QM2.8, M2DC, PHM reg editor, Touchflo of course, I'm planning to try out SPB Pocket Pack and SPB Mobile Shell.
Here comes the confusing part, what's the difference between each of these? Which programs are a complete overlap? I read somewhere that SPB Pocket Pack and MS can complement each other, but for TF and MS, it's either TF or MS and not both together. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated!
About Hard Reset
I recently had a service.exe error after a soft reset. But it only happened once, I'm wondering whether it might have been caused by the installation of M2DC. So, I'm thinking of doing a hard reset. However, I do have some concerns. I have PAPAGO X3 installed when I first bought my Iolite. Upon doing a hard reset, will it remove PAPAGO as well?
What about programs that I installed on my storage card? What happens to it upon a hard reset? I'm sure it will have to be reinstalled, but what about the space it occupies on the storage card? Do I need to remove them as well, in other words, uninstall them first then do a hard reset?
Having said all that, I'm not particularly too concerned about the services.exe issue, since it's only happened once.
Appreciate any advice I can get! Sorry if some of these questions have been addressed in the forums, perhaps someone could direct me to the respective places?
hardreset return your device to how it was the first time you ever started it up
any program you installed after this will be gon untill you reinstall them
hardreset will not of cause change any programs located on the sdcard
but if any of those programs require dll's to be placed on the main device
or require some reg keys to be placed in the registry
then they too will require a reinstall

Does that mean that if the programs do not require dll's to be placed on the main device, I will still be able to find it immediately after a hard reset?

I used to have the same exact problem it's the cab file bro. Get rid of it or hard reset your phone. Get a registry editor and do this.
1. Edit the following regestry entries. Hard part is finding a registry editor, but they are out there:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
Extension="" Delete the "isext.dll" entry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings]
ForceCellConnection="Sprint"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
MaxCMCon=0
2. Delete [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\CMGuardian]
Hope this helps! You should be good to go.
