Treo says too cold and won't charge again - Palm Treo 750

My Treo used to have this pop up that says the temperature is too cold to charge, but it won't charge. Now, it says that and won't charge anymore. I know it can't be that cold as my place is heated to at least 65 and I am in Los Angeles so it doesn't get that cold. Tried soft reseting and hard reseting and nothing really seems to work.
Any possible remedies? Anyone experiencing this?

try a different charger and see if that helps... i'd also try charging with a different battery.

I also get this error every once and a while. I am going to try a new battery.

strange...
I'm having the same issues here. Maybe there's a bug which reads the temp-value in Fahrenheid instead of Celcius? I get the message in a normal enviroment (20 degrees Celsius) so that shouldn't be a problem.
I'm living in europe (NL) and I use a non-branded model (RWE)

Battery level stays at 100% ?

I have tried many wm6 roms lately and settled for the core 2.0n which is brill for me. Anyway recently started noticing that if i charged up my wizard via my laptop then the battery level would go down over time as it should. But if i charged up via the mains charger that came with the wizard it stays stuck at 100%. Now i could get round this problem by reseting the wizard or removing the battery, then it would be ok again. But now it's stuck at 100% regardless of what i do.
I did have the latest BS installed, but i have removed this the other day thinking it might be that, but it's still stuck at 100%
any ideas please ?
just stay like that.. dont reset your phone.. resetting phone will make battery gauge inacurate.. play some mp3 and let the battery drain.. dont reset for now..

Mine been doing the same weird stuff with Core 2.0n with BS. I find eventually it figures itself out after while and starts working normally.
ok thanks for that, i will leave it alone then. I have probably been making it worse by reseting it and turning it off and on. It's just weird seeing it at 100% even though you have bluetooth on and wireless on and browsing etc etc. But now after a few days it is going down again. I guess it gets confused, maybe it needs a few charge / discharges.
cheers anyway

Fuze battery won't charge; Fuze gets warm

My Fuze recently stopped charging. It also gets warm to the touch now.
I bought a new OEM battery and it solved the problem for about three days, but then same problem.
I read somewhere that the Fuze has some sort of shut-off when the battery doesn't work to prevent overheating (or something like that).
It's still under warranty, but I would rather not have to flash back to stock AT&T ROM, etc.
Any ideas would be welcome.
So that's why you're sending it back! That sucks-I have no idea how to fix it, but since you now have two batteries, you could get one of those cradles that has a re-charging slot for spare batteries. Does it not recharge over usb as well as with a wall-charger? Perhaps the issue is with your charger, and not with the fuze. You might look into different charging methods, if you have them available.
No, FT, not getting an iPhone!
Weird that I woke up this morning and my phone did have a 92% charge (hadn't been getting over 20% in the last 10 days), but it is draining quickly without any use.
I'll try my USB charger, but I don't think that's it.
I can get a new one under warranty, but then I have to flash back, flash, set up again; lot of time involved.
i assume youve tried taking the battery out for over 30 mins, then putting it back in, leaving it shut off and charging for over 3 hours without interuptions or turning it on?
I also assume you are using original charger?
Have you considered that the rom/software you are using is wiping the battery out? Loathed to say it, but have you tried HR or reflash different rom as a last resort?

Definitely. I removed some recently installed software, but no luck. Yes, a hard reset is scheduled for tonight. If that doesn't work, stock ROM flash and return to AT&T.
I'll try your ideas and let you know what happens.
I have a similar problem, however it still charges. Fuze gets really warm at sporadic times, and i'm starting to think it's because of the charger. I'm in Syria right now and using a converter and i'm starting to think it's because of it; swapping it in as soon as i get back.

I went to India a few years ago, and my wife made me leave all electronic stuff behind because she'd heard of stuff like that. You might want to ease off on the usage while you're over there.
mm it is weird though, as the htc chargers are now designed for multi area usage with just the plug part fitting into the adaptor/transformer.... obviously a cost cutting excerise from htc, so in theroy it should it ok for multi area use. I went to the maldives recently and had no problems with my HD
I had the same problem with my Omnia, but I just had to buy a new battery and never had the Problem again.
Overheating Problem in my Samsung i780
I have this same problem where my unit overheats, really hot to the touch. After switiching similar same spec orig batteries, the problem stays on which only means it is the unit and/or the unit's charging system that is faulty.
Any simple in-house remedy for this?
Planning to upgrade fw, though.
Thanks!

battery icon says charging but not plugged in

hey im running on stock and have had no problems up until a couple of days ago where the battery icon on my G2x shows that its charging but i dont have it plugged in at all. what bothers me the most is that my phone wakes up randomly as if it has been plugged to the charger. Anyone else have this issue? i havent heard of a problem like this happening to anyone else. Any ideas? oh and yes i did a complete wipe of everything but the problem is still there.
Just had this happen twice yesterday, but even worse off. The charging state toggles about every half second. When I try to turn the screen off it will pop back on and the "Charging (XX%)" will flash on and off on the lockscreen, keeping the screen on. It stopped about 30 seconds into the madness both times. I'm not too worried about it. I'll exchange the phone if it becomes an issue. Kinda curious what it is though.

I am facing exactly the same problem as quoted above. Got my G2X day before yesterday and this problem starts to happen as soon as (and every time) the battery comes down to 70%. It does not happen when the battery is full. I am on Android version 2.2.2. Haven't been able to upgrade yet. Did you guys try upgrading to gingerbread? Does that solve the problem?
I have a strong feeling that it is a software problem, not a hardware one. What do you think?
I dont have the same phones as u guys, but my problem is the same, it thinks its charging but i dont have it plugged in. I'm sure its a software issue, rebooting, removing battery, hard resets dont work. did any of u guys solve the problem, if so, any clues as to what the issue was that i can look into?
Did it get wet?? I had this problem a while back when I wiped my phone off with a damp towel. Some water had got on the connector at the bottom. I just pulled the battery and got some canned air and got it out. Haven't had that problem since

[Q] Battery percentage when charging stuck at 59%

Hi guys. For the past three days, I have a weird problem. When I am charging my transformer, it seems to not go above 59%. At first I thought it maybe was a bug, as it happened a short time after installing and running BOINC for android. The thing is, I also put it in my phone, which is an older SE xperia x10i, with no such problem. I even changed a power outlet, but no change, still stuck at 59 % in overnight charge, once it hit that number it stopped showing that it was charging. Also, I uninstalled BOINC and the problem didn't go away.
Any help is appreciated!

I just got mine back form the factory (refurb that had tons of flickering issues first week i got it) and after I got it back I updated and mine does the same thing. at first I thought it just didn't charge with the screen off but now that you said 59% it always seems to be at 59% i've tried both charging it with the original wall wart and cable, and trying to use the keyboard dock but it's the same both times it stops at 59

Update *FIXED*
I got mine back from RMA, it had 4.1.2 on it, there was an update though so I did it (with the keyboard dock plugged in, not sure if that is important) I never used it before the update so I'm not sure if it was the update or that's just a problem with how it was shipped back to me, but it would consider 59% a full charge and stop charging.
Fix
Factor reset, seems to work fine now, at 80% and climbing I'll report back if anything else happens.
Thanks for the response. I was kinda hopping I wouldn't have to factory reset, I takes quite some time to reroot and restore from TB. At least, it's good that it seems to be software and not hardware related, at first I thought that maybe something on my charger had snapped and it wasn't providing adequate voltage for the remaining 41%.
Update, everyday i do a factory reset, it works fine but the next day it won't charge, this had happened twice.
Factory reset fixes it but the next day it's broken again.
i'm going to run down the battery and see if it will charge up to 59% and get stuck there again or if it just doesn't charge overall. So before you go factory reset and setup all your apps give it a few days and make sure it works right.

Funny thing, my tablet actually started charging back to 100% again. Or, to be more accurate, the indication is 100%, I haven't run performance tests to see the actual charge level. I have no idea what caused it or if it fixed itself permanently.

Shutting down after startup

Hi,
there are some threads about the bootloop problem, but I couldn't find exactly same problem: some days ago my phone landed into the bootloop. It was a bit spooky with battery charging state, it was jumping for different states - 3%, 99%, 24% after every loop. So I bought a new battery and replaced the old one. Now the phone starts to LG logo (with starting sound), but after 10 seconds I can hear the power-off sound and the phone turns off. It seems to be a "normal" shutdown, not the "reset-bootloop": I hear power-off-sound, LG-power-off-logo and LED is blinking blue for about 10 seconds. After that it repeats infinitely. Also, if I turn the phone off it stays off, but if I put the charger in it, it's starts from itself again and again. Did not tried the hard reset until now. Any ideas, guys?
update: tried hard reset. it's starts until "optimizing apps", if it's done, i can see for a second the "first setup" screen and then it's immediately shutting down. same problem with the old, original battery.
edit: for the first time I saw message "high temperature" on the screen, before it was powered off. But the phone is not even warm...

What you describe is exactly that happened to the Mrs's GF2. One day it was fine and then all of a sudden the battery drained really quick. Now she can only get to the optimizing apps screen before it shuts down again. Ordered a new battery but that doesn't look to be the solution from your findings. :crying:
My phone has the exact same prblm n i was thinking of buying a battery but now that i have read your post i am doubting my battery purchase.
By the way have u found any fix also are u sure the battery is genuine n not some poor replica?
I had this problem when I had flux in my battery port causing a battery connection problem. Sometimes it said temperature too high and other times temperature too low. I was able to fix it by taking out the motherboard using 90% alcohol and a toothbrush to clean the battery port in the motherboard. Then I let it dry and problem was gone. Now I'm not saying this is exactly your problem but it just means that there's most likely bad connectivity to your battery. It could be your battery, the cable or the port.
Mrs received her new battery and it seemed genuine. Put it in and the phone is 100% dead. No power, no charging, no life.
Its not all bad news as she bought a Honor 6X which is a far better phone.
I tried all the hints I could find (except cleaning it with alcohol), but nothing help to start the phone again. Could be defective heat/temp sensor on the motherboard.
Battery was from "Polarcell" - that's a pretty good one manufacturer with satisfied user reviews on amazon (also had good personal experience with their batteries). Just for info: phone doesn't even start with original battery anymore - same problem.
I already switched to Honor 9 (excellent phone!), but will give another try and clean the battery attachment port with alcohol today. Will give you an update later.
If you plug the phone into the charger does it even show the battery charging symbol at all?
From what I've been reading the temp sensor is in the battery and sends the temp signal through the battery connector to the motherboard. So if you replace the battery it's like plugin in a new temp sensor. However if the connector is bad then that's the only thing that I can think off that would prevent the phone from starting. If the port is bad I don't know if it can be fixed or not.
Had no luck yesterday with port cleaning. Still the same error.

Yes, but it's more complicated. If the phone is turned off and you plug USB in, it starts to boot from itself (without pressing the power button). In most cases it's going up to LG logo and powering off again. After powering off I can see battery charging symbol for about 5 seconds, after that it's changing to battery symbol with an thermometer. While the phone is in this bootloop, it's charging. From the point with this battery temperature symbol it stops charging. I read something on reddit about getting it up to 100% could solve the problem. So, I tried to plug it on and off about 50 times to get fully charged, got it up to 100%, but it's still rebooting. Can't get into recovery, but it's possible to get into the "hard reset"-menu, where I can wipe data. After this the phone boots normally (at the first sign), it's starting optimizing apps, I can see the "first-setup"-screen (that one with language chooser) for a half second and it turns off again. Same behavior with both batteries - new one and the original.

That's a lot of combined symptoms. I have no idea what could be wrong with yours exactly. I would try to bake the motherboard with solder flux as a last resort. I had to do that with my G flex 2 twice to bring it back to life. I'm not sure if it would fix it in your case, but at this point you don't have much to lose.

I've already spent enough time with trying get it back to life. Loved this phone, but I had to send it to LG service every half year (3 times!) and got it every time with a new motherboard back. My brother had to send his one two times within a year because of several problems (no vibration, no sound through 3.5 jack...). Furthermore it was not possible to root or unlock the bootloader since Android 6 (what I've got with the last replaced mainboard, but what was not available through the software update!). So, just for me it was a very bad experience and for sure I'll not buy an LG phone for the next 10 years.

Oh, that might void your warranty if you changed battery yourself. As I can see you're from Germany, EU, so you should ask for DAP (defective after purchase) act from service to get refund for your phone.
I've never heard about DAP. Do I give them my phone and get from them some money back or what is that about? Is it an manufacturer service or general refund possibility in EU?
