Hi all.
Is it possible to terminate a data connection using the keyboard on a 750? On my KJAM, I was able to press-and-hold the right phone button which would terminate the data connection. I don't want to necessarily turn off the entire phone function.
TIA!
With Phonealarm you can terminate automatically the connection....
Thanks to assistance of casouzaj I just found how to do that. Go to Menu (right soft key) => Wireless Manager => Menu (again right soft key) => Disconnect Cellular Data.
If you do not have the above chain in your Treo 750 you shall run wrlsmgr.exe first (that file is in Windows folder and you may create a shortcut for it) and then Menu (right soft key) => Disconnect Cellular Data.

Hi,
I am currently working in a project in Spain to implement an application for SFA (Sales Force Automation) to capture orders at Point of Sale . We are evaluating using XDA II (PPC 2003 phone edition) as a device where to run the application.
As this application (.NET) will sync data over GPRS, we need to have GPRS activated. But at the same time, we would like to save power deactivating GPRS from the application, when the user don't need to sync data with the server.
Here is the question :
- Is it possible to activate / deactivate GPRS from an application without deactivating the whole radio interface ? (i.e. we want the user be able to to make phone calls at any time (even when GPRS is off)).
- If so, what is the API that enables to do it ? (we don't want the user changing this from device settings).
Thanks in advance,
Rgs,

In order to deactivate your gprs connection, you hold the red button for 3 seconds (hang up button).
You have also some tools that have a connect/disconnect button sucg as GPRS monitor.
I appreciate your quick repply, but I am not looking for a mechanism to close a GPRS session.
I need a way to disable the process that is permanently looking for the GPRS network, even when you don't have a GPRS session inititated (i.e. disable the radio interface for GPRS only), in order to reduce power consumption.
I need this from an API, not from a user intervention, so we can program this functionality on our application.
Hopes this clarifies my question.
Rgs,
probably this guy who has come out with this Tweak can help.

This tweak allow to to start Radio by not having GPRS attached. Is that what you're looking for?
I dont have a data plan for my SP5m so my provider defaults any data access at a high "per KB" rate. Is there a way to prevent all GRPS/EDGE usage ? Ideally, I'd like to just be able to turn GPRS/EDGE "off".
the only thought I've had thus far is to use some "fake" settings so any attempt to use GPRS/EDGE would simply fail to connect.
Is there a solution or is my "fake" idea the way to go ? If I use the "fake" solution, what setting(s) do I need to change ?
I think all you have to do is delete the connection. Click the start menu then settings then connections and connections again. Then click on manage existing connections. Then take your stylus and hold it down on the connection name, for example for me it is tmobile, until a pop up box comes saying delete and connect. Tap on delete and your gprs settings are gone and you cannot connect.
If you want to keep your settings, maybe you can just create a new connection with fake settings and have that chosen as your connection when you dont want to use your providers GPRS.
The settings to change would be the number to dial, for me it is internet2.voicestream.com.
Goto Settings/Connections
Choose Connections, got to Advanced tab.
In "Programsthat automatically connect to internet should connect using:"
choose "My ISP". Or create new one with empty parameters..
Have fun....
deleted connection
Thanks for the easy solution (I like those types). I went ahead and deleted the GPRS connection. Things are behaving just the way I wanted !

hmmm...I think SP5m does not have touch screen.
BTW: window mobile and window mobile smartphone are totally different OS.

This is not an easy solution to your request, but I just upgraded my QTEK 8300 to the latest Imate SP5M ROM and noticed that under the COMM Manager one can "Stop Data Services" by moving the joy stick to the icon or hitting number "5". It immediately stops the Data Flow (at least the G) disappears in the header. Not sure it is really stopping Data because when I go to WiFi and open IE, the G reappears. Might be due to the way I have my Cingular connections set up. I'll experiement some more and re-post later. I like the new ROM, snappier, the radio is much better in that I get a much better signal where I'm at.
Here's how you disable GPRS/EDGE Auto connect!!
Start > Settings > Connections > Manage my connections > Then just point to the list item and hold down until the menu pop up and select delete. Do it to all the items there such as T-Mobile / AT&T or Winmodem..etc... after you deleted everything and you go back to the connections page you will see "Add a new modem connection" under My ISP. Do not delete anything under "My Work Network"... Hope this help.
You can use Modaco NoData to disable GPRS/EDGE =D
Have a nice day

You have to go to comm manager and press 6. Let me know if works or not
Yes it works!
You must go to the Comm Manager and press the 6.
Great!
If you delete or just rename value SuspendResume (to SuspendResumexx or whatever) in HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings it will disconnect automatically after while...
if u press the call end button thrice in quick succession then it disconnects the data connection also
Hi
When i want to connect GPRS network on my htc touch diamond, my phone connect EDGE instead of gprs and the E icon show on taskbar !
and ther is no internet.
Please Help me
Edge is better than gprs and your phone will prefer edge if it is available. if your phone isnt connecting to the internet, then there is either a connection setting fault(talk to your service provider, or the builtin software for getting the connection settings, or just ask some one here) or an activation fault( talk to your service provider).
in which country do you stay, and which service provider do you use?
I just signed up for a regular plan without the "data plan" meaning i dont get wireless internet. I plan on only using WiFi, but i just tried using opera, and typed in yahoo.com and it started to go to the site with wifi off.
How can i completely shut off internet except for wifi so i dont get charged!!!!
blahhh!
One way would be by going to Start / Settings / Connections (tab), press the Connections icon and then the link "Manage my existing connections" and ensure that no connections are set up. If there any just delete them.
A safer way would be to call your carrier and have them disable data on the account so it is their responsibility not yours. (had to do it for my son's phone)
Hi Here is an application
Hi Here is an application (cab) by installing it you can disable or able your GPRS/3G connection whenever you like.
I have the Fuze version on at&t network. I've disabled 3G on AT&T's side so there is no way to connect through there.
Nevertheless, my phone ALWAYS tries to connect to the 3G network and i've disabled 3G connections using Nodata.cab, advancedconfig, diamondtweaks.
Still, the warning signs always come up:
"there is a problem connecting to the gprs service in your registered home network warning"
and this occurs, when I turn on the phone and many other times.
Is there a way to disable this warning? I know I cant connect, its because i disabled it!!!!
anyone? it comes up like 50x a day andi have to click OK to make it go away every single time
Have you unchecked the auto update setting for the weather program? Doing this worked for me.
did that, but didnt fix the problem. anything else that can be auto updating or trying to contact the 3G network?
Go to start -- settings -- connections -- connections --advanced -- select network.
Here I think you can change the defaults so that when ever a program tries to use internet it will either use wifi (if available) or nothing....
I have blocked the wireless internet access on all my lines and this is how I solved the problem of getting gprs disconnect warnings.
Hope this helps.
Is it possible to just disable this warning?
I'm switching between my personal and business SIM cards quite often, and I have the data connection disabled on the business card, while on personal I have a data plan, so I want to be always-online.
I disabled aGPS and now i dont get the warning as much. (remember, i disabled GPRS from att side).
when i start my phone, i get 1 warning (i used to get 3?)
maybe i'm on the right track...
But the point is not to disable features so they don't auto-connect to the Internet.
The point is for the OS to try to onnect automatically, but when it failes - it doesn't have to scream that to your face every 5 minutes.
I'm bumping this thread cause I did the same thing and want to know how to disable the message as well.
still no answer to this
Translating from Dutch, so bear with me:
Go to Personal > phone > network settings and put the band on GSM.
Note that you won't be able to use the 3G + H data connections then.
my father has the same problem on his Diamond, need help!
bump, i have the same problem as well
any solutions?
i have a solution.
download > install > and run NOGPRS.cab aka No Data. that will shut it up. i just had the same problem and i did that and now i havnt gotten any... i think i might get like one if i turn the phone on and off and what not, but other then that its fine.
Solution to GPRS warning message
Go to settings > Connections > Connections > advanced > select networks >
now check both options to 'my work network'
click ok
and reboot
the irritating message will go away.
until you again reinstall the sim into your phone and it will automatically reconfigure the settings.
Just repeat the above process.
solution
1. Tap Start.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Phone.
4. Tap the Network Tab.
5. Tap the Network Selection Drop down.
6. Tap Manual.
7. Tap the desired network.
8. Tap Ok.
