Whenever i send a sms while the inbox window is opne, i have to wait for the sms sent icon to appear and disappear. If i immediately exit the inbox window before the icon disappears, it gets stuck in my task bar.
Does anybody know how to fix this?
stop using the program you are using to really! close programs when you press x
some pocketpc programs cant cope with being terminated like that
outlook being one of them
some of those terminate at X press programs let you add programs which it should not terminate
the whole thing about really closing programs when ppl press is is somewhat a myth from pc's where if it run out of mem it will swap to the hd
but since pocketpcs cant do that
programs get the amount of ram they need and if there is not enough
the pocketpc will close programs running in the background itself
in a way that dont cause issues
pocket plus is a common program which terminate programs unless one turn it off or exclude programs from being terminated
Thanks, ill try that

Does anybody know if there is an app that can automatically close all open apps on a Windows Mobile phone after a pre-set ammount of time, like, every 5 minutes, or something like that? Since you can't remap the hardware OK button on a Treo 750 I thought that would be the next best thing for me.
I know is Wisbar there is a program called "OK Close" which closes the app once you hit the ok button.....thats what I use and it works great..........
Not sure if thats what ur lookin for tho.....
Alright so a few quirks with the Cruise to see if anyone else has ideas or comments on this:
1) Clicking on the Mail icon in HTC Home has a delay before opening up the Account Selection screen. If I map the Messaging App to a button or launch it directly it opens super quick. So what gives, why is the Home plugin taking much longer to launch Messaging?
2) Phone dialer skin lag. This really annoys me when I see the screen getting painted when bringing up the dialer. I mean it's a phone, of all things why can't this work nicely. Other things work really smooth, why this?
3) Comm Manager exit. We all know it doesn't really exit and is probably a WM6 issue. Even when you click the exit soft button. The reason this is also annoying is because if the Comm Manager is launched for the first time, it opens up nicely without different parts of the screen getting painted. However if it's in memory and launched again, you see it painting different sections of the screen. If I go in and kill it and start it up again, no painting on the screen. What gives? How can I ensure that pressing exit actually stops the application?
Thanks!
Anyone have a solution to any of these quirks?
Alright, I will try bumping this thread one more time in the chance that someone might have some input on at least items 1 & 2. I have heard that item 3 might be solved by some of the ROMs out there, maybe bepe's.
With regards to point 2, I don't have a solution but I would imagine if there was a way to keep the phone dialer in memory and running in the background once its been opened for the first time - it may resolve the issue. i.e if it wasn't closed competely when it was finished with ...just an idea, not sure how you could implement it - will have to have a play.
Actually I find that's not always the case. For example the CommManager does the exact opposite. When the Comm Manager is in memory and you call it up again is when I see the screen painting slowly. If I am calling it for the first time is when it displays the screen in one shot.
I just got my fuze and have a few questions:
1) What is the easiest way to get push gmail on here? Is it through IMAP idle?
2) How can I adjust the memory usage so that most of my storage memory is used for current program memory (RAM) as I have a 4gb MicroSD card in there?
3) I've been able to disable the PTT button through the registry, but is there any known way to make it a dedicated button for camera, connection settings, etc?
4) How can I change it so that the whole d-pad and 4 buttons under the screen light up via sensor or at least don't shut off as fast?
5) Is there a way to disable the annoying keyboard that comes up on screen when in landscape mode (e.g. like when in a text input box in a browser window)
6) Is there a way to change the items that are listed under the internet touchflo tab?
7) How can I change the location of the images that are pulled in the photo/videos tab for the flip thru? Like I have customized folders on my memory card that I want it to see for the images.
8) What is the easiest way to autofill a recipient for text messages? I seem to be getting inconsistencies when I hit either enter, down, d-pad down, or d-pad center. Sometimes it autofills it, sometimes it goes to the message entry box and other times it pulls up the phonebook.
9) I did that customize your battery icons *.cab by someone on here and it mad it so that I always have a plugged in icon up top instead of a battery or a percentage. I can't find the *.dll to remove... Any tips?
Thanks, everyone!

The internal storage should be used for installing all applications on. The Memory expantion card should only be used to store cab's, music, pictures, video's etc. It should not be used to run any applications from, it's just too slow.

The only thing I was KIND OF able to find an answer to is the gmail issue. I apologize if you are able to find something I'm not. I don't know what to search for for the other things... Could you maybe point me in the right direction?

Someone developed some push settings that can be installed as a service on the device but you have to start the background service every time you restart the phone.
Also - Is it normal that when an alarm or notification (like with the calendar) goes off, there is no pop up notification? I have to actually click the little alarm icon... Kind of annoying?
Not sure on the alarm thing I hate WM alarm I use SPB Clock its got a great alarm on it. Let me know if your "interested" in it.
Can you give me a link on where I can find this push service? I hardly ever rest my phone so thats fine with me

Hey - Do you know how I can add a YouTube shortcut to the program launcher or start menu? Right now, the *.exe is just in the Windows folder.

I think you should start by installing advanced configuration tool by Schaps, that will allow you to do amny of the things you listed, and allows remapping of keys, and has a touchflo configuration tool. It won't solve all your problems but it's a start.
As for gmail, i'd check out a beta software available from a company called Seven who make xpressmail for AT&T. Their beta software supports AOL, Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, & work email systems for push features. IT's pretty nice. Make sure you get their beta software. I'm using it on my tilt right now, i'll be checking it on my Fuze this afternoon when i get to the store to buy one.
locat the folder its in copy it go to the program files folder and paste a shortcut Rename it if you want. Then add it like you would any other one in the list.
I will PM you when I get home.

The shortcut didnt work. I created it in the my device -> programs folder (which had all subfolders in it) but it doesnt show in the touchflo programs launcher or the menu settings where i can add stuff to the programs menu? Also I have an MP3 in the windows folder but it won't show up in the ringtone settings. Any advice?
Hello.
I have installed WkTaskL_1202 and i think its quite useful. I have a problem though. Sometimes when the phone goes on standby and i open it again i have the activesync window next to start menu opened and i have to manually close it. Even when i close it, the ActiveSync window reopens after a while (it doesn actually opens the activesync window it just shows that there is a minimized window on the taskbar and when i click on it it goes to the normal window). Is there something wrong or the activesync runs always in the back round and the WkTaskL just makes it visible?
If so is there any way to adjust WkTaskL so it doesnt show the activesync all the time, but only when it is actually connected to a pc via bluetooth or usb?
The second thing i would like to know is that i use task manager 3.1 and it shows that a shell32.exe is running and it is using up a small percentage of cpu all the time (0.10-0.50% and sometimes 1-2%). Does anyone know what it is?
Thank you.
Hmmm you can hide Activesync all the time but i doubt you can have it only appear when its being used. If you want to hide it all the time just do a long press on it when its on your taskbar and select Hide.
For your second question, you shouldnt touch shell32.exe... it is an extremely vital component of your WM6 Operating system and it should only use a small portion of your memory and CPU.

Thank you very much. I would not touch it. I just didn't know what it was.
honestly i find this really annoying, especially to the average person tha doesn't think to go download a task manager and kill everything after doing anything on the phone so your battery lasts more than 6 hours.
here's a simple logic i'd like to use.
if you use the "back" button to exit an application, kill it.
if you use the "home" button to leave an application, don't kill it until you go back to it and use "back" to exit. or kill it with a task manager.
like why hasn't someone implemented this? close or minimize its as simple as that people. i really hope the android developers listen to me on this one.
im sure nobody would be happy if microsoft came out with an update that disabled the X and you could only minimize applications or kill them with the task manager. come on. thats why i'm not totally satisfied with android yet.

How else would you have multi-tasking? Most of the stuff I use, I would rather it not close just because I had to check my calendar, or reply to a text.
just hit the home button to minimize it. hit back to close it. select the app again after minimizing it to open it again. simple. or if you're worried about having to go find the app again, just have the app minimize to the notification area. but personally, i'd just close everything and go back to it
.
that is a good idea should shoot google an e-mail. but its be diffrent from phone to phone as not all are the same(while most do have a home button)
I like what Dolphin Browser does, how if you hold back (as opposed to just clicking it) you close the application. I think that would work great if implemented universally.
well then could someone create an app that for all applications, holding back will actually kill the app?

Being able to multitask has nothing to do with having the ability to close the application I don't need running anymore.
how abt remapping that search button that i rarely ever use to close an application. that sounds more plausible, then we can leave the back and home button the way they are (sometimes, u just want to go back, not close an app)

Dude, no one has to write an application for that. There are a lot of applications in the Market that can KILL running apps on your phone. A few examples:
- Free Advanced Task Manager (also has a Widget that requires a single press to end running/useless apps)
- Task Manager
- Advanced Task Killer Free
- Automatic Task Killer
...and MANY MANY MANY MANY MORE! It will take a day to review them all and find the one you like the best. That MANY!
And what you really wanted to say is that the developers SHOULD implement an EXIT function in the application (some have it). If the user doesn't want for the application to run anymore, will use the EXIT function! Simple as that
If someone doesn't like multi-tasking, can always get one of those EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE AND USELESS iPhones
like i said, it'd be really annoying to have no X button on the top right of every window, and the only way to exit something would be to open the task manager. and potentially kill something that's keeping track of something.
i am aware of all the apps. its just really annoying. every time i do something i go and find the task bar and kill everything.
by the way when i said back should close the app, i meant the back button still acts as the back button until it goes back to the desktop. then when it goes back to the desktop it closes it.
i like this, cuz normally the apps that i dont need anymore stay open and overtime make my phone slow and drains my battery, and i hate using taskiller cuz im using sense ui and taskiller kills everything meaning that i have to reboot the sense ui which takes a minute or two and itz annoying to go to taskiller and kill the apps one by one...

you need to set your exceptions in your task manager
On Android, when you use back or home to exit an application that application goes to "sleep" mode. That means it doesn't use processor and/or battery power.
There are a few exeptions of course, the calendar, mail, alarm clock, music (if you listen to music). These have to run in the backround to function correctly. If you kill the alarm application then your alarm won't go in the morning, etc...
