I have just bought a 512MB card & wish to transfer a 133mb film to it how do I send straight to the card using activesync
Thanks Graham
sd card reader is the only way i know of.
If you want to start transferring large files, you 'must' get a card reader. They're dirt cheap now and will transfer your files in a whiz. It will take what seems like a lifetime doing it through AS.
If you must se AS, right click on the green AS symbol in the systray and select explore, from there you can navigate to the memory card and just drag/dropv the file as always in windows.
Heed the previous warnings though, it will take a long time; a card reader is about £6 and will speed the transfer up by orders of multitude.
Also, if you are going to be transferring a lot of big files you could try my new software which is underdevelopment, it sunchronises any files on the PPC to the desktop including memory cards, and will very soon have the capability to do the sync over a card reader to the memory card.
find it here

Thanks all
Unsure if it is the done thing here but I'd like to thank all those who have helped - I used the Explore feature as I didn't have a card reader & you were spot on as it took ages.
The 1st time I tried it crashed half way through I then had to reinstall Activesync which then interfered with my cordless mouse so I had to reinstall that.
On the 3rd attempt I finally got it done so I shall be buying a £ 6 card reader ASAP as it took 2 hours to sort LOL..
cheers again Graham
Hey I figured out why my damn SD card is reading only half its available memory. Guess what happened, when i formatted in camera, camera partitioned the drive as a 1gb drive, so there is 1gb of unpartitioned space on the card (thanks to vista for showing me that). Now here is the issue, I cant find a partitioning software for free that will delete the partition and let me create it. Any ideas?
I like beer.
paragon partition manager, then sd card reader(format) to make you safe...
if you're in windows vista you can partition it through the drive manager. just go to the start menu and right click on "computer" and choose "manage" and then choose "disk management". just click on the partition of your memory card whether you are using wm5torage or you have it hooked up through a card reader (separate or camera) and use the app to resize and format the partition. i was able to do this with other removeable storage devices...

I tried that, no option to resize
And do to a very nasty virus, I had to reinstall everything on machine. Now im stuck on Vista Ultimate. Gonna have to rebuild my ROM collection. Hope I still have alot of them at work, if not, oh well, Starting from scratch is always fun.

hmm...i'm on vista ultimate and i have an option to either "extend volume" or "shrink volume" when i right click on the drive in the bottom half of the screen...
if you're in vista you can try one of the progs that are listed as compatible (never tried any of the apps):

good luck...
You can try this, it might be able to fix it, i am not sure about the partition size though.

Agree to that all the time.. been doing that since windows 3.1
I would appreciate help with creating multiple partitions on my micro sd card. over the past few days I sat for hours reading all about it but still have some trouble. OK, so I know that windows won't allow you to create multiple partitions on removable media. Therefore I created 2 fat32 partitions using Gparted. So far all was well, and my phone recognized it as 2 storage cards. The problem is Windows Vista (or XP and 7) still won't recognize more than 1 partition.
Now if you search around on the internet you will find people referring to the Hitachi MicroDrive Driver which can be hacked to make an SD card (or USB flash drive) appear to windows as a local disc, making it possible to create multiple partitions on your card. That's when Vista x64 gets in the way since the driver isn't x64 compatible. So far I still have not found a solution, and would appreciate it if anyone knows how to do this on a x64 system (including assigning drive letters to each partition). Just to make it clear, using WM5 Storage and USB to PC didn't help either.
Thanks
BIG problem.
i know this is an old post, but did you ever find a solution for it? im having the same problem. my scenario...
using an HTC HD2, i've installed wp7 to the phones memory. wp7 by default re-formats any micro sd card so that it can only be used fully by wp7. there was a work around here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=945565&highlight=micro
and i was able to dual boot wp7 and then an android build from the micro sd card. here's the BIG PROBLEM... both wp7 AND my sd android build WILL NOT see anything else on the micro sd storage card.
furthermore, any attempt to format that card in windows is met with the message of windows will only recognize one partition on a removable data (something like that).
now here's the real kicker... in linux, all partitions are recognized. i have do have 3 partitions on my micro sd card now, 1 for wp7, 1 for my sd android, and 1 that im hoping to find a way for at least one of these builds to read. the idea is to have that final open partition for storage of music, pictures, and video files to share between the 2 systems. i'll be happy if just one of these systems can read it though
im not sure where to post, or really what to do. however, i saw your post and it was the closest thing i've found to anyone else having a similar problem. if anyone can point me in the right direction i'd appreciate it.
best program is EASEUS Partition Master 6.5.2 Home Edition.
I'm searching for a device that allows me to move files from one memory card to another while on travel without a computer (only with my HTC HD2).
So I could made backups from photos and other data.
It seems to be impossible to connect an external card reader or memory card to a pocket PC.
So this may be an interesting solution:

Are there any alternatives?
New external drives usually come unformatted and un-partitioned. You'll be able to fix this matter by exploring the Windows Disk Management.
Help!!!!
But I don't have Windows Disk management??
