XDA VERY SLOW - General Topics

My XDA is very slow. When I switch it on and press the menu, it takes about 5 minutes for it to come up, then when I select something like the calendar, it takes another 5 minutes. This is making it impossible to use. Any ideas as to how I can make it work properly again.
Thank you.

Hold back to soft/quick reset.

I don't know how well known this is, but I just noticed this.
If you have 'stop app via long press' enabled in settings, applications, development and you hold back on the home screen your phone will reset.
I found this very useful as it only takes about 5 seconds to reset instead of nearly a minute the normal way.
Also useful for making settings that need a reboot work. Ie changing bar colour.
It also kills all apps which is very useful, especially because it only takes about 5 seconds.

[Q] Froyo/CM6.1 on G1 is too slow

When I unlock the phone, it takes literally 15 seconds to get onto the home screen and when I press the menu/all applications, it takes atleast 20-30 seconds to arrange the icons.
Is there anything I can do to make my phone a little faster?

wake up delay

whenever i press the power button to wake my phone up, i have to wait 2 to 3 secs sometimes before it lights up. this is very inconvenient when i try to text while im in the car driving.
does anyone know of an app or a workaround for faster waking of the phone?
My fix: Don't text while driving...
Wouldn't worry about it. What could possibly happen in 2-3 seconds you have your eyes off the road, waiting for your tablet too boot up?

I've tried mine multiple times and I don't seem to have your issue. Immediately after I press the "lock/unlock" button, my lock-screen immediately appears. Like faster than a speeding bullet fast. Tried it with MTP on and off, it's still fast. Lol

Phone usable, but not all responding

I've got a weird issue. I'm running the stock T-Mobile ROM with the only real modification being Swype as my keyboard. Sometimes it seems the phone will get very warm and stop responding. I can still open the home screen, go through apps, etc, but Internet/Data will fail to work. I can access the dialer, but it will refuse to dial. When I press a text box for the keyboard to come up to type, nothing registers within the box as I type. Using the home screen widget to turn on and off wireless and GPS, those buttons stop responding as well.
Has this happened to anyone? I'm close to performing a factory reset to hopefully rid this issue. Rebooting the phone seems to fix it, but it has happened about half a dozen times within the past 2 weeks now.

Best bet is to factory reset which, of course, will dump all your apps, settings, etc etc... An even better bet is to root and install a custom ROM; but that is your call.
Another option is to get a task manager / battery monitor and see if a specific app is causing your phone to act up. Look for things like most time on or most CPU usage or most battery consuming, depending on what app you use.
Agreed. Try a factory reset, or send it to HTC.

[Q] Bootloot and power problem - Nexus 5

EDIT: PROBLEM FIXED, changed the power button at a mobile producer. Thanks for the help
Hi XDA's!
My nexus 5 is in bootloop, with endless on and offs. Whenever the phone was on it tries to open up the "turn off-menu" and spams that command over and over again till it just turns off. And then granted there is power in it it turns back on, and during the boot just kills off again and restarts (the fact that it starts itself over again without any input from me is confusing to understand). Im guilty of installing Cryogenmod, and now something is wrong with the installation (even though i installed like 6 months ago, just randomly occured when i popped it in the power socket, without any like installation of any patches).
At the moment it only shows the google popup, and soon after starts to load the cryogen, but thats usually where its killed off, much like when im in the process of going to bootloader to factory reset (there isnt enough time). I did get a signal about the system (android) had temporarly stopped working when i one time managed to come through the loop, but not anymore. The lack of bootloader optionality makes it a lot harder, and thats why id love descriptive guides!
thanks for helping me unbrick my phone! Kitten for those who read the whole post ,
Carl
It sounds like it could be a stuck power button but your description is a little confusing to me. Try mashing the power button a number of times to see if you can get it to unstick. If you have a case on, take it off.

No case, no stuck power button from what i perceive/feel. Still i tried to see if it was stuck, but i wouldnt be so sure of it-. The fact that i did get a crash about the operating system when the problems culminated steered me towards believing it is a software problem, but that wouldnt describe the automatic turn on whenever i supply it with power? Your suggestion makes most sense tbh.
The problem is that it automatic goes on whenever it has power, and crashes 5 seconds later, just to resume the pattern, Im NOT turning it on by myself, it does it itself, meaning there most be some problem with the power button?
