I have an XDaIIi on the o2 network uk. The o2 logo is permanently displayed in the WA area and I do find it irksome and annoying. On my previous phone I was able to remove this by removing the o2 UI active interface application. On this phone this doesn't seem to be possible as it keeps telling me the application is in use, read only etc...
I have gone to Windows folder and deleted associated files but I cant seem to get rid of;
Windows/fonts/xpdr_o2.ttf
Windows/Mobile Solutions/O2ActiveUI/Modules/Connections/connections.exe
Can anyone advise how to disable this at all please so that I can clearly see the icons in WA that I want to see.
I have tried telling WA to ignore o2UI but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
All help appreciated
NB the beta version of Wisbar Advance works fine with the XDaIIi, a must have for any user and well worth the minimum cost!
did you look if it's started in the
windows\startup
and if so tried to remove that shortcut
Doing as RudeGear WILL work because it's exactly what I myself did last week.
No more annoying logo!!
I just removed "connections.Ink" from the start up menu and yes it does appear to have worked.
Thanks both!
Probably silly of me to ask, but why do they put that bloody logo there after all the unit is stamped o2 on the case, so why????
It's not a logo thing, if you tapped it you get a connection dropdown list, for GPRS or USB connections etc.
It's just crap, s'all.

Just recently, my o2 has started to run slower and slower. Its so slow now that I'm unable to sync it with my PC anymore. When I turn it on, its like the machine is running at 1MHz. You can watch things get drawn up on the screen. I'm also unable to run any applications, because of "Low Memory" screens that keep popping up telling me to close an application because my o2 is running low on system resources. I've cleared over 50mb and uninstalled everything. Its still doing it.
It seems as something is running in the background and eating up all the memory, leaving only a few k's availabe for programs. I can't even run xBackup or anything, because when I do and it starts doing its thing, the low memory window pops up and asks me to select a task to close.
Can anyone help me here? Please?
Thanks in advance - Nate
Tell us what you've installed recently.
You should install Pocket Hack Master by Anton Tomov (or atleast try to install). You can see the running processes and close them, using PHM.
Maybe that helps. So far, the only solution i can think of is performing a hardreset. The fact that you will lose data does suck though...
Nevermind, I did a hard reset just now. Seems to be back to normal now. While the o2 was in the cradle, I was still able to access its files through my PC, which was weird - but wasn't able to successfully sync the data.
Backed up contacts, and appointments using that option with xBackup. Took about 20 minutes to back up about 200k of data.
Fingers crossed that everything will run smoothly from now on!
BTW, any apps you guys recommend me to install?
Hi @all,
in the last weeks with my HTC touch dual, i discovered a worse loss of performance during 1-2 days - resulting in the need of a softreset. Unlike some of you i won't accept a daily softreset as a "must" for a WM device.
Looking into the processes with SKTools, i notice a constantly raising CPU load of the process "shell32.exe", which may need 40% CPU load or more just in idle state, making the phone really laggy. I've read about this somewhere in the web and some forums, but i did not feel everybody is suffering from this issue.
So what about it? As a SMS flat user i'll write many SMS per day with my wife - and this seems to be the crux of the matter. Playing an hour with my phone, opening and closing apps, entering dates and contacts - and shell32.exe is still at 0% in idle mode. Writing and receiving 40-50 SMS and i'm at 20% or more.
I just want to set up an discussion about that ... maybe some of you will have the same problem. And maybe some of the clever guys here will have an idea how to fix this ... the problem still exists in WM6.0 and unfortunately still in 6.1
Any discussion / ideas appreciated ...
İ have the exact same problem and was googling about it finding your comment... when i first boot my device cpu usage is %0 when idle and after sending/receiving around 50-60 sms , it increases up to %25 when idle by shell32.exe . I wonder what's it got to do with cpu ...
"Nice" to read someone else with this problem. It seems, that most people make a restart every day or does not write much SMS.
In holiday, my HTC ran 2 weeks without restart and problems ... but abroad you have to pay for SMS and there were only 5-10 of them. But with a flat ...
It seems that Microsoft still did not noticed these problems ...
I actually do restart everyday my htc prophet as it does reduce battery life having cpu at 20-30%
I guess we can solve this problem by comparing software we use and find what could be the problem. Because ,as there is not a lot people suffering from this, it might be a software issue.
well i heard that shell32.exe was also for today plug-ins , i have only bat.status as today plugin. May be i should disable it and try again... Actually i am abit lazy
You can spend this time to other things ... ... i made all these tries. A "naked" Touch Dual with no plugins makes the same - it's an issue of the operating system and/or the SMS app, which is a part of it.
well then these pdas are just not for sms-lovers Or shall we beg for a fix from microsoft ...
I'm experiencing the same problem. And i'm not a heavy user of SMS.
I think it happens even when not a single SMS have benn sent or received.
It seems to happen since I have flashed a 6.1 ROM.
I remark this because my battery is discharging more than usual.
I have the same problem on my new Palm Treo Pro, even without sms sending. Cpu usage is not that high though, but sometimes the battery is almost empty at the end of the day without doing anything special.
Monitoring power consumptions with BatteryStatus (now HomeScreen++) has a best case of 45mA (still almost double of my P3600) and more often than wanted around 150mA-250mA, with moderate backlight and idle state.
If I remember correctly, the P3600 had a similar issue and that was linked to the radio, it was solved by a newer radio rom. But that my be coincidence or just a total different thing too.
I'm having the same problem with my treo 800w. If i reset my phone to begin the day, about halfway through the day wihtout using the phone at all I will notice the battery dropping rediculously fast. Looking at the processes reveals that shell32.exe is using 20% cpu constantly. After a reset, shell32.exe hovers at 0-2%
I am positive this is what is causing my battery to die so fast.
Hi
I've got a similar problem with my FSC Pocket Loox N560.
I got a RAM extension which additionally needs an upgrade to WM6.1 (at least that's what i got).
When i reset the Loox, everything is fine.
But as soon as the device is switched off to suspend mode and then on again, shell32.exe takes up between 30 and 70% of CPU power. And there is another process, filesys.exe, which uses another 20 to 30%. So in the worst case, the CPU is at about full load and - of course - the processor mode is constantly at turbo mode. The system's reaction is pretty poor then. One can see the sector-colored-circle-thing appearing every 2 seconds on today screen and some other applications.
Haven't found a reason for this. I would be quite happy for now if i only needed to reset the device once per day, but in fact i have to reset it everytime i switch it on.
Does anybody know a reason for this yet?
Greetings, Martin

I have the exact problem on same device (FSC LOOX n560). Upraded it to WM6.1 about two weeks ago. Everything was running ok until yesterday, when I installed and then uninstalled latest version of Pocket Informant from WebIS and MyMobiler remote desktop (which I uninstalled right after this problem started, because I thought it is, what's causing it).
My guess is that it has to do with some filesystem errors on storage card (after all it's FAT system, which fragments it's data). I'll try to format my storage card later today, to see if it helps
EDIT: Okay, it seems it was caused by misbehaviour of SPB Pocket Plus v4 program. I uninstalled it and turned my PDA on and off several times and shell32.exe process was still on 0-1%
EDIT2: Well, I made a hard reset and installed everything again, including SPB PP and everything is running ok

2.other software
yep, I installed SPB PP as a first application, then the rest
hey every1
even i am havin d same prob on my htc diamond..but on a minor scale.. I have installed few softwares recently and have noticed dat shell32.exe is taking arnd 0.37 % continously..but i compltly remember that b4 installing and even in all the roms(i have tried many roms) it used to be only at 0% in idle state.. but this is continously taking abt 0-1% which is also affecting me as i wud like to know the reason.so have anyone found the reason and a way to resolve widout a hard reset. bcoz i know once i hard reset its gonaa be normal. but i install many softwares and putting them back is a pain...
hi guys. I have the same problem when I use the usb cable to connect as a masive disk and I finish using or not "extract securely" in my PC.
sorry my english!!
I have this problem too!
when my phone is turning on: shell32.exe=> Ram usage about 2MB, CPU usage 0% or 1%!
after receive several sms, shell32.exe=> Ram usage about 10MB , CPU usage about 40% to 60%!!
I installed "BestTaskMan" and found shell32.exe in processes list, i select it and in menu button i click "Windows list"..
in "Windows list", I found a invisible windows with "Clock Window" name!!
i checked it, each time I receive sms, a "Clock Window" was added tu "Windows list"!!
I think, its the main problem!
My Questions: whats "Clock Window"?
why is it invisble?
why will greate a "Clock Window" when I receive a new sms?!!
How to close it?!
I am having a problem with my program memory on my TP2.
After a soft reset I run my opera browser and sometimes it will pop up and say my program memory is low and to close something down. I have 40 MBs available. Is this not enough? If not where do I start cutting. I really want to show off my phone to everyone but don't want to look like an idiot with it locking up every 5 mins.
I suggest a hard reset (check the manual), because that amount of free RAM is not normal. Most users boot up with around 80-90 free. More available using the "Disable Push Internet" and ResProxy hacks, found elsewhere on this board.
My TP2 (VZW) runs great.. so great, in fact, that i launched google maps, found my location, and guided my group to one bar to another bar in nyc last night before 2 of my iPhone friends could.
Thats a testament, right there.
i got my verizon touch pro to boot up with 102 megs free, i usually stay within the 43-48% of memory usage
i got my verizon touch pro 2 to boot up with 102 megs free, i usually stay within the 43-48% of memory usage
My memory also stays between 42%-48%. I disabled the push internet and did the resproxy edit and it runs great. After using for a while it will get up to the mid 50% range. When it does that, I will use the cleanram program and it goes back down without resetting.
that's exactly what i use too, but overall mine never slows down or lags
thats weird i normally start up between 70 - 75% and all i am running is gyrator 2.
What is that cleanup prog you are talking about i don't want to do a hard reset if i don't have to and reinstall all my apps and regedits...
it is even giving me problems now... but even at 75% i have like 35mb free why would it be lagging?
Would a lot of emails in my inbox cause that?
better yet is there a app that will show me what is taking up my program memory?

do a search on this forum for DisablePushInternet and you'll find that cab that'll free up plenty of memory
I installed Dutty's disable push internet and reset 54% YaY!!
Thanks man I had originally thought this might of been a problem but since I had push internet turned off in my data settings I didn't think I needed to install a cab just for it. Maybe it was still holding memory from when I tried out push internet the first day I got my phone before I disabled it.
Thanks A lot I will monitor my phone today and see if I have anymore problems with it lagging.
ok It jumped back up to 70%
I tried to move my opera cache to my storage card to see if that would help
I soft reset
it started at 54%
I started opera went to this site page and then exited opera
and now it is 61%
I started opera again went to ESPN College football page where it froze for about 10 secs then resumed loading then exited
and now it is 65%
opened opera back running very sluggish now
click on another link exited
and now it is 67%
seems to be a pattern here
when I go back to Opera:config
user prefs the Cache Directory4 is back to default
changed it again this time to
\Storage Card\Program Files\opera9\cache\
(which someone recommended)
reset
started up at 54%
opened opera loaded XDA Forum page
exited
and now it is at 61%.................again
went BACK to opera config
cache file is STILL default
what am I doing wrong?
and am I even on the right path with the opera cache to correcting this problem?
Thanks for yalls help
PS: I just deleted my cache and it is still 64%.......
disable push internet
sorry if this is blatently obvious but i have looked all over this forum and i keep coming back to this same thread. does anyone have instructions on how do disable the push internet. i have found other forums for other phones but not sure if it will work for the TP2. im currently running CERegEditor to edit everything. also i keep following the instructions for turning off the "message sent" notification but again no luck. these are 2 of my biggest qualms with my phone right now. thanks for any help!

install this cab and do a soft reset to disable push internet
For the SMS notification
If you have a registry editor just here
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings SMSNoSentMsg = 0
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\Default Options = 0
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings DisableSMSDeliveryReceipt = 0
You just change all the values to 0 and then do a soft reset
worked for me
worked like a charm! thanks!
install cleanram, or if you want to buy speedbooster they both help my tp2 to stay below 48% while having a lot of apps on my phone including emulators
Ok, I've been having a bit of the memory problem as well. Not running anything out of the ordinary - software wise - yet, but booting with the Push Internet Disable to 54%...
First opening Messaging, dropping to 57%... Other TF programs show no effect...
Open Opera - Drops to 63%... Exit Opera - Raises to 58%...
I think 75-80MB of open memory speak for itself here... Course, you really wanna make it scream, just disable Touchflo... lol
I installed clean ram and ran it
its at 62%
Why can't I get mine to 48%
I hate to but I think I am going to Hard Reset and see what happens

Sprint TP2 is set up in such a way, that after disabling the push internet feature, only about 38% of memory is used after a soft reset. The memory usage never goes above ~ 50%, if you truly exit Opera (clicking x by default minimizes it, and it won't show in Task Manager; one only needs to choose Exit from Opera menu and/or hack the registry to make it truly exit).
There's something wrong with programs you installed. You need to check your running processes (there's a number of programs available, I use memmaid) after a soft reset. Mine doesn't go above 16 - and that's just stock minus Opera push stuff.
I did a hard reset
I reinstalled my programs to my storage card
Advanced Config
BerBible
Facebook
FreeCadie
GoogleMaps
Memmaid
NoniGPS
Skyfire
Slingplayer
Sprite Backup
XML Contact Backup
I am still running at about 70% but it does not seem to be lagging as bad
I ran memmaid and did a scan it only found 124kbs.
But it closed 1 program that was 23 MB
that took me down 4% to 66%

Go to memmaid, Jump To/Process/Running processes. Write down or take screenshots of everything in there. Post it here.
Someone here will be able to figure out what's eating your memory and how to fix it.
Ive got a TDS Nomad (http://www.sdgsystems.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=49&Itemid=51) wich i want to use for a customer. They need to connect to an sql db remotely so ive installed a simcard that is purely used for 3G, so no phone functions.
But now ive got a little problem with the startup of this device. Windows Mobile ( WM6 PRO) boots ok but the phone (dataconnection in our case) doesnt start automaticly. When i go to phone and click options it tells me that it needs to be turned on, when i press ok everything works but i want this to happen on startup without the users having to do anything.
Ive tried to add a shortcut to the phone in the wm startup, but this just shows the phone screen, it still isnt activated. I cant auto dial someone on startup because we dont have phone functions just data.. Also tried to open a website on startup to initialize the data conn. but this needs user input to accept the outgoing connection.
Soooo the question is; does anyone know how i can force the conn manager to turn on the data conn on startup?
