performance without tf3d

Hi tp owners ..
I currently own an imate jam, which I'm about to replace.
So far I am quite content with the performance of the jam, the reponsiveness and so on.
I recently got my hands on an eten m800 with vga .. I'm going to return it since the performance usgin it just as a telephone sucks (getting up the contacts list and so on has too much delay - plus touch sensitive is NOT the way to go)
My question is, is there anyone here upgrading from a jam (or even not) that can say what the performance comparison is for regular phone stuff .. ?
I really font need the tf3d stuff.
Thanks
iyah123
All I can say is that compared to my Touch Dual, even with TF3D enabled on the Touch Pro, the overall responsiveness in the Windows Mobile menues, etc, is much much better..

Usability of the 2.8" VGA screen

Hi,
I am a current HTC 7500 user (a huge device with a huge 5" VGA screen).
While I am enjoying the screen, I am suffering from everyday usability of the 7500.
So, being an ATT customer near the end of my 2-years contract, and not planing on switching, I am really interested in HTC Fuse.
I can't imagine browsing with Opera without a VGA screen. However, would it be possible to actually read anything online? The fonts already small on my 5" screen, and I would not like switching to larger font sizes, because it diminishes the advantage of VGA screen and violates web page layouts.
Could somebody share their experience with small VGA screens, and possibly post a screenshot or two?
Thanks!
I personally dont find it a problem, but then ive never used a device with a screen size any bigger, what i will say is, the version of Opera mobile that comes with it is very good indeed, navigation within the app is very similar to browsing on the iPhone and if for example you want to zoom in further you can use the touch sensitive dial which, is very effective.
Like i said before ive never had a device with a screen size any bigger than 2.8", the devices i had before this all had the same size screen (except the Alpine) but browsing on the the touch pro (Fuze) is by far the best experience ive had out of all of the devices ive owned.
Hope this helps.

Truth about Xperia X1 and WM - is it really worth it ?

Hello WM community !
To cut long story short, I got very interested in WM and now I am considering to buy Xperia, but after reading a lot in this forum I got my doubts about it.
A lot people says that WM is way ahead comparing to symbian and yeah, for example Xperia's cpu and ram size is almost twice (or even more) as big as any other symbian device. But what are they good for if Xperia can hardly play good quality clips smoothly and run game emulators at decent speed ( I mean snes ,gba emulator with sound or even FPSCE) ? The old, practically unchanged S60 platform can run those things ( and even .avi files) without problems (well except FPSCE of course ). As you probably all know, few symbian phones even are able to run Q3 at a very very decent speed. So my question is, why Xperia is worth paying around 800 $ ? Just for super comfy office tools? Sexy design? Nice touch screen? Why ?
I don't want to judge anything, I just want to find arguments why I should buy the Xperia ? And I need your help guys
Thanks in advance
P.S. As you noticed, I want to use phone as a multimedia entertainment device, especially for movies.
hi,
i understand your concerns.. i am sorry i do not watch shows on it..
but my own experiences,
PRO:the screen is sharp. 3 inch is good.. touch pro is only 2.8 and its heavier.
the CPU to me seems ok. In fact youtube has a vs touch pro video out there.. x1 is faster when switching landscape.
the touch screen is good in response for me. most task can be used one hand finger.
Keyboard is good.. you can type pretty fast on it.
as of all WM devices, you need to customize it before it becomes better.. i am speed dialers .. launchers... cool.
battery life for above average usage is 24hours. (am told other devices is shorter )
CON:
the camera button is difficult to press
you may get the rattle "add on" (ie a rattle sound when shaked )
price is a little on the upside.. well this is suppose to be their flagship premium phone.
for my subjective opinion, WM, especially touch HD is the best for me, that will be my future device,. hehe,.
easy software upgrade, ROM cooking, etc,.
i agree with -G-, my next device will be the touch HD, the wait to march will be ohhh soooo long
touch HD is good.. however if poster needs a h/w keyboard.. then touch HD is out..

lol, yeah,.
The Touch HD is a media orientated device (what with it having things like the 3.5mm headphone jack) and in CorePlayer (or even TCPMP) the HD can play full size AVI movies pretty much perfectly!
The X1 has very similar hardware, except for the keyboard, but that may be used in game emulators. Also, I'm sure that emulators would run okay (they can run on my Prophet, with a 200MHz processor, and 64MB of RAM!)
I've seen both (but not used them, only reviews).
The Xperia is much better looking than the Touch Pro IMHO. It is smaller, lighter, and just cooler. They both should perform the same, but I think the Pro has the better UI
thanks for commenting.
I will probably buy it, but still I can find the arguments to justify the price....
anyway, thanks again.

TG01 to TG02 for free.

TG01 to TG02 for free.
Look here:-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqqF5Pbrkew
☆Toshiba TG01 to TG02 for free☆ Just install spb mobile shell.
You will have Toshiba TG02 by just adding Spb Mobile shell interface.
They both have :-
Same processor 1ghz Snapdragon, same camera 3.2 Mega Pixel, Same screen size 4.1Inch.
TG01 is currently £159.99 (with 8 gig mem card) on orange and is the fastest phone available today. With a superb screen size of 4.1Inch that is a joy to watch movies on. Full desktop support for flash video websites like YouTube and others. Giving you Youtube as if you were using a desktop pc full YouTube with all the search options and comments. Just like it is on your pc or laptop.
3D gaming that is as smooth as silk and Microsoft Marketplace for apps and games + thousands of free apps and games on the net. For your money get the TG01 unless the capacitive screen is enough for an expensive upgrade. Then just install Spb Mobile Shell.
Yeah, and get loads of bugs with it too!, like poor phone calls, feeling slower than it should feel, and so on...
Who knows, maybe the TG02 will end up being like this as well anyways!!
Yes those bugs are still present. TG02 just basically had a face lift of TG01 with Spb Mobile Shell. Thisw phone is basically identical tech.
Then why should anyone bother to get the TG02!!!
Stupid Toshiba...
this version of mobile shell is out since 8 weeks^^
The TG02 run´s WM 6.5.3, thats the different to the TG01...
and mobile shell ähm sucks
the main difference seems to be the capacitive display vs the resistive one
Capacitive display vs the resistive one is the main upgrade to the TG02. That is correct. £159 compared to £489 for capacitive and mobile shell is just way to expensive because most all other specs are the same. Still it is not 100% confirmed it is capacitive screen. K01 would be the best upgrade due to the hardware qwerty Keyboard. But expect to be stung on price for it.
TG01 with ps3 bluetooth keyboard is the way to go for most cost effective way of doing things. The ps3 keypad works great for fpsx and other games/apps.
i don't understand the sense of this topic . spb mobile shell runs on htc p3600, or htc HD..that doesn't mean that it will be tg02 . you cannot upgrade for example the capacitiv screen, which is intro TG02.
Well...
The TG02 does have capacitive screen. 100% confirmed
And they also made it smaller by taking some of the plastic frame.
looks cool but I will wait for the extreme drop in price after they will find out that unhappy costumers is much stronger than any advertising campaign they will make.
Its not that the TG01 is so bad.but on the first problem that 90% of the users complained about (Call Quality) they found out Toshiba support stinks!
Maybe it will become a good bargain for poor students like me =)
Its good to hear about the screen. I know there is loads on the call quality just do the upgrade from the Toshiba site and this has cured the call problems, well on mine at least.
I still dont think I would go for a TG02. We shall all see as time goes by..
@gingerchristopher.... your sig is a little bit OOD - we certaily DO have custom ROMs now .... have a look under the ROM development section !
But your forgetting one thing....
Capacitive screen on the TG01 is superior.

@Wen, think you are muddling devices / screens ! TG01 = 'R' and TG02 = 'C'. Also whether Resistive or Capacitive is very much a mater of personal preference.... I absolutely favour 'R' because of the fine resolution, stylus and especially handwriting support which 'C' doesn't do. Some folk of course hanker after the lure of 'multi-touch' and huge 'finger-friendly' everything. But i'ts all a matter of taste, style and usage needs. I just hope that the manufacturers continue to recognise and support BOTH camps in future.
Yes I also like resistive screen more. Just lack of multi touch that`s the problem.
To Rival the HD2..
Had the TG01 from the first few weeks of release (before getting the HD2), yes it had some rather irritating issues, BUT two things resolve them and turn it into the great phone it should have been (to allow it to rank as an alternative to the HD2) and that is:
1)The 6.5 Update
2) SPB Shell 3.5
After that no worries!
Superb Phone. .
I was lucky to buy Toshiba TG01 for £130. Since then I have installed loads of ROMs and softwares. . I personally it is an awesome phone except two things:- bad battery life and less ROM. Apart from that it has a superb screen big, bright and clear and you cant miss to mention the connectivity options. I can connect my HDD, external mouse, keyboard, memory stick, etc. Which other phones gives all this with a Snapdragon processor. . Though Im desperately waiting for Android to be ported to Toshiba. Also use HTC Hero and simply love that too, for other reasons. .

Omnia II vs Imagio vs TPro2?

So, those are my choices. I'm on Verizon and those are my options. Android is NOT an option for me.
So... All three have various advantages that I can see, and I'm torn on what the best route to go is.
Omnia has a wonderful screen (Bigger, and OLED), faster processor, FM radio, 8 GB internal storage besides the card, and a flash for the camera. But I worry about support for it. There isn't a www.samsung-developers.com after all! Many reviews say the UI is clunky at best and that the device seems sluggish plus it only has 208 RAM.
Imagio has more RAM, the radio, better built in UI. But there is no flash for the camera. I worry that I'll find the device nice, but nothing special about it... which I guess if it works as advertised I don't necessarily need special.
TPro2 has same RAM as Imagio, World Phone capabilities, the same UI as Imagio, and one of best keyboards a phone has ever had, at least according to all the reviews I've read. But it doesn't have flash for the Camera, and it doesn't hav ea radio.
Frankly, I'm just really really torn... any opinions?
Touch pro 2 Defenitly. The Omnia II, I wouldn't even consider. The Imagio is nice, but why not get all the functionality of a phone by getting a keyboard, and better more a keyboard that tilts. The keyboard is by far the best i've used and the tilting comes in handy while watching movies. The speaker quality is excellent and the device is not that thick at all. Maybe a smidge heavier than most but not at all annoying. This is by far the best device I've had! I suggest the touch pro 2.
+1 for Rhodium!!
The only one with a hardware keyboard, in fact the best with kb!
By far
Have a look here:

What about Sense UI? The Imagio seems to have a new version. Is it possible to upgrade the TPro to the same UI level?
Yes it´s possible always with one of our great Chefs cooked ROM´s
