Hello everyone,
I noticed that there isn't much information available in the Wiki about smartphones. At least there isn't a full listing of their names on the home page. I have a limited knowledge of the models and manufacturer names, and nothing I can contribute to because I don't own an SP. So could anyone please help fill in the missing data?
Thanks

Obviously you just didnt realise what you just typed.
i'm sure you know there are tons of sites already doing this.. rating "software" and recommending software.. and no need of such waisted threads.
here's a link to begin your quest for recommended software.
www.download.com <- filter to mobile software (top rated, popular) .. ofcourse there are more sites on the net that does this better.
hey
lol. i can assure you i am aware of what i type!
my intentions were to eventually setup a CAB file repository for MS Smartphones here on xda-devs which can be accessed via our smartphones over wifi! i am working on compiling a list as we speak however i am having trouble finding some good freeware apps and will end up having to post 'trial' versions
Hey guys, i've been following this forum for the last few weeks and i always find more and more terms that i need to investigate
terms like
fastboot
nandroid
recovery image
etc...
now don't get me wrong, i can google like the best of them, but i was wondering - is there some kind of wiki or central repository we (as first time readers) can look at whenever we are lost?
just a thought...
Every phone family on xda-developers forums has a corresponding wiki entry. Some phones do have a listing of common abbreviations, acronyms, and terms used around that phone.
Since this is probably as central a site to G1 modification as you can get, it's probably the best (only) place you'd find something like that. But it's not here (yet).
Wiki editing is open to all members. It might be a bit too much to expect those doing the bulk of the modding work to write their wiki pages as well. When you do your research and find out what the terms mean, why not try your hand at wiki editing and help out the next guy?
Hello people.
I have an HTY-4242+. It is NOT the original one, but a chinese clone as seen in some other posts around here.
All other posts I've seen talk about WM ready images, but I would like to know if anyone here has or knows how to do an Android image for this mobile.
I have only basic information about the hardware, so It would be very valuable if someone could share the BSPs. This way I could put my own brain to work instead of boring you people.
Any clues are wellcome.
Really thanks.
Hello
I have a couple of ideas for applications that would be useful to smartphone users, and am only getting started gathering information.
Of the two ideas I have, one could be developed as a web application (so that a single application can be used on a PC and a smartphone) and the other probably needs to be written specifically for each platform (because it needs to handle calls).
I checked the sticky posts in the General forum, along with the wiki, and the home page, but didn't find an article for newbies that would provide a short, 10,000-feet view of what the options are, etc.
So to make an informed decision, I'd like to know what, at this point and in the near future, the main options are to write applications, with advantages and disadvantages for each.
Thank you.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
I'm interested to know if there are any equivalents to DistroWatch for Android or if anyone is working on a similar project that allows users to see which roms are gaining the most downloads or users, and to track trends in popularity over time. I've searched around on Google, and haven't found anything, or course I know that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Thanks,
Kevin
