I just received my second O2 XDA Exec
And like the first, it's rubbish, internet access is intermitent,, unreliable and the device as a phone is cumbersome, I been on Vodaphone for 11 year prior to this, and never had these problems.
I only have another week or so to be able to return it,, so I was thinking of a decent replacement.
Should I keep it and request for a new SIM card ? (could my connection unreliability be becuase of the SIM ?) .. or go for a IIs ? ro anythign eelse for that matter ?
I amm lookign for a goodd phonee to get emmail and be able to use it as a gateway to the web to my laptop via bbluetoth

man, i never said i was the smartest, I spent like a week in the hermes forums looking for info that I could possibly be using on my treo!!! First question is there any 750 users in Japan? Hopefully there are, I just picked mine up in HK and have been using it here in japan for about 3 weeks, I love the phone just can't seem to work the mms bugs out of it, hopefully some members are using theres in japan on softbanks service.
Hello Etriess
I been thinking of getting the 750v and have had the X01HT by SB but the unit was too slow.. Window... How is the speed of the 750V? do you have software slowdown issues? and what provider are you using? Docomo ? SB?
Inquiring minds want to know!
Catfish
Hey catfish,
I am using SB service, so I didn't have any issues when it was unlocked. I have now unlocked it and still working fine, I have not used anyother sim card except SB's. As far as speed is I haven't had another WM phone so really nothing to compare it to. I do like it, the speed to me is fine, I like my phone software to be fast, that is why I would never use a samsung phone again the software is just to dam slow, so sorry couldn't help with that question.
etriess,
I just brought over an unlocked treo 750 from the US to Japan and using with with a SB sim card. The one problem I'm having is that I can't access the internet with the phone. The direct push/email synch is working for me, but for some reason I can't access the internet. I'm currently using the Vodofone Access Point and I tried the new *99# access point, but nothing is working for me. Supposedly "open.softbank.ne.jp" used to work, but it was shutdown at the end of April. Do you information on an access point that works with the Treo 750?
I just moved back to Japan, and I have an unlocked Cingular Treo 750 (WM5). I also subscribed with Softbank, with their unlimited packet internet plan. Can anyone tell me the settings they are using for their treo 750 if they are using it with their treo? How did you configure your access point settings? I have been able to make phone calls, but I have not been able to get any data portion to work. I tried some of the suggestions on the Hermes forum, but I could not get the password necessary for the AP to work. Are you using the old cingular/vodaphone settings? Are you being billed per packet?
Thanks.
Yukster,

Opensoftbank AP Password conundrum
I am working on the solution to this problem. I think the answer lies in the WIFIwake.exe program that is available on the Hermes and Universal forums. There are three ways this problem could get solved:
1) Edit the WIFIwake.exe so that it can be used with other devices (possible I assume, because the Hermes WIFIwake is a slightly changed copy of the Universal WIFIwake) This will probably prove beyond my capabilities.
2) Get the password by looking at the code of WIFIwake.exe. I have managed to open the exe with a debugger program and there are some likely contenders. I am in the process of trying them now. Trying them all will take some time.
3) Find the guy who wrote these programs and get him to write another that is either universal or that can be used on a Treo 750. I, personally, don't want a 750, but there are more than a few Japanese users I have seen that would be interested in getting this to work.
Anything in here anyone can help me with? I need it.
it works in japan. tested by myself. (in tokyo at least)
@SirJeannot, can you be more specific? I know the 750v should work in Japan as it has the right radios, but the question is what access protocol is being used.
Can you access the internet using a softbank simcard? If so, what access point name are you using? Is it open.softbank.ne.jp? Or is it something else?
Also, can you access Softbank MMS?
Sorry, no solutions as of yet... I have temporarily given up, and bought a Sharp EM One when works on the E Mobile network. I also got a regular Softbank cellphone, (Toshiba 911T) and is patiently waiting for a solution. Right now, the Windows mobile situation is pretty bleak, with the X01HT being sold out, and its replacements being delayed for over 2 months. The solutions from wilcom is expensive and slow, being stuck on a 256 kbs PHS network, and expensive, with its unlimited data plan at over 12000 yen. At least the EM One is pretty capable, but large, and has no phone capabilities.
There is no debate that you can use the Treo 750 in Japan... I have roamed several times with it when it was with AT&T. I have put the softbank sim in, and it works fine, but the data portion did not work.

I everyone!
there is something i would like to understand but cannot find...
I've got a contract with t-mobile+web and walk included (i've
got a Mda compact 3)
that why i choose the option to of web and walk, anyway from not that long i change flat and i've no more internet connexion (a yes the only thing i have it's share connexion option with my mda) it is very slow because it not 3g mobile that is easy to understand to here!
After get to t mobile shop and the customer service to buy the modem itself because i have already access to the web and walk they do not sell the modem separately it's only with contract.
The question is (I hope you were not impatient ^^)
If i buy a unlock modem (i don't mention the website but can guess e...) and i insert my sim card on it that will work?
Thank you if you tried it.
Greg
And thank for many thing i found on Xda-developers already

Should do, bear in mine the basic wnw doesnt allow the service to be used as internet access for a laptop/pc though (unless the t&cs have changed)....web-n-walk+ allows IM software and also the use of the service as an internet connection for a pc/laptop.
I wait see if someone tried before if not i can be the beta test maybe that will do and happy or trow 55£
Dear Friends,
Iam here to share an important problem that i faced in my newly bought HTC P3400i mobile, hope this would be very helpful for those who are planning to buy this mobile. I bought this mobile on 7th November 2008, on the very first day i feel very happy to see that mobile, all features are good. I put my SIM (Airtel) and started using the mobile. The next day some of my friends asked me "why dont u pick my call ?, i called you several times yesterday, " but i didn't got such calls at the particular time they said. As days passed lot of people asked the same, i called you but you didn't pick the call, also i was not able to sent messages properly, most of my messages are awaited in the outbox, also not able to receive messages from others. then i go to the mobile showroom where i bought and complaint about the problem i faced. They told that there was an incompactibility in HTC for airtel, as you are using airtel it was happend,(but i face the same problem in other networks also, like Aircel, Bsnl) you have to update a software for this problem. They gave me the adress where to update this software, i went to the service center and updated the specified software. Even after updating the same problem occurs. The call problem was reduced, but the message problem remains. The problem was not solved fully, i was not satisfied, then few days passed, again i got problem with that mobile , the sim card was not detected. When i put the sim it say's INVALID SIM , i tried all other sim cards, the problem occurs, the same sim i used in other mobile works fine. The network automatically disconnected often, if i try to make calls, it says "The phone is not ready please wait". I never expect this from this mobile. I read most of the forums before i bought this mobile, but i dont know this mobile is having such continoius problems. Now i gave the mobile for service and started using my old mobile,(NOTE The age of my HTC is not yet completed 1month , but within this period i face lot of problems.
Note : Without proper testing with all networks in india, how can they release the model in India ?
Please enquire well before going for this mobile...
My personal opinion for you friends... please do not go for costly mobile. if so enquire well before you buy... my friend used Motorola PDA , he is also facing a lot of problem and now using a budget mobile...for further enquiries please message me friends.
Please send me your suggestion and feedback...
Thanks
Vijay

I owned this information to this forum:
After many workarounds and trials/errors, I called to HTC-US explaining my problem with my TyTN II.
They worked in following way:
1. I sent them, to my cost, the phone (they asked to send only the phone without battery, back cover and SIM)
2. They took in deposit the information of my credit card just in case they needed to use it for a payment if the repair is out of the warranty. If this were the case they would inform me the amount and I had to decide to make the repair and pay the charge or not to make it.
They told me that they had to change the phone main board: I believe that everyone who has a similar problem like mine (bad or not connection to the 3G network and sluggish touch screen) should contact HTC-US to Customer Care Department, 1-888-617-1113, M-F 9AM - 6PM EST.
In my case the phone was in warranty (although I flashed the Hard SPL in the phone, but the hardware was untouched). Therefore, I had to pay…zero. And they returned my phone in just 4 business days.
My phone is working very good, always connected showing an H indicating the use of a HSDPA network.
The cost of the solution was $ 20 by the FedEx service to send them the phone. Good deal.
I am having those exact same issues, and an additional one when using bluetooth, I FREQENTLY lose connectity, and/or drop calls. I also called HTC, they told me as my phone was an at&t TiLT (unlocked-because I moved to Australia), that wouldn't allow any hotfix downloads, ROM Updates, nor would they do for me what they did for you.
I called at&t and said the same thing, but if you think customer service when you are a customer is bad with at&t, try AFTER your a customer, they honest to God laughed when I suggested they should help me make some Bluetooth Hotfixes, and a ROM update (I believe there have been 2 since my version), and lastly, it gets worse, even if i miraculously found the hotfixes, ROM versions, etc. I OWN A MACBOOK PRO, and I don't think I'm nrave enough to attempt my first ROM update for Win XP through VMWarefusion, through a MAC OS X 10.5.6. I am glad for you though that you got that done. I am even an HTC e-club (I think that's what they call it) but no matter, to them it's not an HTC phone, which is SO MUCH BS! Anyway, congrats, if you hear of anyway I can circumvent HTC and get what you had done, PLEASE help a dude out and let me know. Regards, Shogunzero

Just because your phone is sim unlocked, doesn't mean none of the rom upgrades or hotfixes won't work. It still has an AT$T rom. Just boot into Windows XP, connect via active sync 4.5 and download and flash away. I do it all the time on my Intel Imac with Bootcamp. never ever a hitch.
These are the only rom upgrades and hot fixes for the Tilt. There are also some great custom roms and flashing tutorials here to make your phone run better than AT$T ever thought of making it run.
A sim unlock does not affect your rom. AT$T are full of crap. As is HTC. I would love to be an HTC Tech. Connectivity issue ? Replace the motherboard.
Wifi won't work? replace the motherboard. Stylus broke? Replace the motherboard. I cannot remember talking to one person who has sent their phone to HTC for repairs, and have not had it sent back without being diagnosed as a bad motherboard. The lucky ones are the ones that get it covered under warranty.
I can't connect to XDA is the server down? Replace the motherboard

I'm having trouble reciving picture messages. I get the message saying I recived one but then when I click on the get media content it never downloads the picture. Same for when I try to send one. What's the solution
Sent from my HD7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
i see your using an HD7, what carrier? any mods you've made?
make sure you have data turned on. pic messages need your data connection to work. wifi won't cut it and for usa tmobile, most times 2g (edge) won't cut it either.
I have t-mobile. All my data connections are on. 3g connection on and data on. Still don't work

you are able to access the internet without issues? If so, you need to contact tmobile.
Hi tperson1,
I had exactly the same problem on o2 uk.
This lasted for nearly two months. Phone was not updated at the time.
I was originally able to send and receive picture messages when I first got the phone, but this broke after about a month. I went to the o2 shop and asked for advice. Their response was that it was either because the phone needed updating (which wasn't available at the time) or their was a hard wear problem. They informed me that they would happily send it to HTC for repair, and provide a cheap replacement phone for the month or so it would take. Understandably I wasn't happy with this.
I then contacted o2 customer services who offered a swop for a new model. They then said that HTC advised changing the sim card first and sent me another to try before a swop.
However, the problem appeared to resolve itself before I received the new Sim card. I received the feb update shortly after and touch wood I have not experienced the problem since.
Hope that helps.
Garrickus.
