Has anyone else experienced a freezing up of their TomTom and phone whilst diving?
Whilst using TomTom Nav 3.07 with the phone set to receive calls, the TomTom works fine for a few miles and the all of a sudden just freezes and I have to perform a soft reset to get control back.
Any advice?

I have exactly the same problem. I am fairly sure it is down to TOMTOM losing contact with the SD card - although tomtom freezes I can still tap into exit application and then remove and reinsert the card and it works - I have tried most things to resolve it but it is just the same - I am considering the upgrade to 5

Hi
I wonder if anyone can shed any light on a problem ive got, basically i have the XDA 11 running ROM version 1.66.00WWE and TomTom 3 Wireless GPS.
Everything runs fine with TomTom until I received a txt message or phone call at which point TomTom disappears off into the background as a running process which cannot be terminated or activated using task manager, the PDA continues to function normally but TomTom will no longer work and I have to perform a soft reset to get it working again.
Im running TomTom 3 (3.0.3 inc GPS driver version 3.0.3) I upgraded to this hoping it would fix the problem but it hasnt.
Can anyone help its driving me nuts, as I often receive calls when driving and have to pull over to reset the unit to get GPS up and running again.
Hi,I installed checkpoint and downloaded a list of radars and now every once and a while my screen freezes,I must do a soft reset and all goes well until a few miles or minutes later, never had problems without checkpoint.Does anybody have same problem, how did you solve it.I have a Qtek 2020,Emtac bluetooth and Tomtom 3.Thank you for your help.
I had a similar problem to this when I used it on a motorbike, it turned out to be whenever I lost a signal for a period of time, the system would freeze, I have now fitted the gps unit to a better position and this seems to have cured my problem.
hope this helps
Hi All, posted here as its not the phone but the software it would seem.
Im running a G4 Wizard/MDA running TNT1933 which is working great
But I'm having some odd issues with TomTom6 (had similar issues on wm5)
1) The program starts up muted every time i start it up.
2) I have to switch sound on twice for it to come on
3) Screen updates are quite slow and the voice normally activates much faster than the map on screen.
I have had it running normally before so the phone is capable of running it properly.
I have tried deleting (after backing up of course) the navagator.cfg but it still had all the same problems.
I seem to remember with my old Ipaq and gps jacket you had to set a baud rate for the comport but i dont see anywhere to set the baud for my bluetooth gps reciever.
Just wanted to try and avoid re-installing if its something simple.
Thanks
Hi all,
I just got the Fuze and am having some strange problems with it's GPS. I am able to get a lock. However, the GPS data stream appears to be 'hanging' randomly.
I mean, after I get a lock, it would stream NMEA data for a few seconds, and then just randomly stops. I use the program VisualGPSCE (http://www.visualgps.net/VisualGPSce/default.htm) to see how many satellites I am picking up. This program has consistently worked on the iMate 8502, Epix, and my iPAQ 910. So I don't think it's a software problem. I am also experiencing the same problem with my GPS software, namely Garmin XT and OCN8. After a while. the program would announce that it has lost GPS lock.
Anyone experiencing this, and should I exchange it? Thanks for your feedback. Other than that, I was surprised at how much I like the device.

Having the same issue
Out of the box it was fine with Tomtom7 but since I sync'd up exchange, added a BT headset etc I am getting the same problem.
It does a toggle every 4 or 5 secs between GPS lock and no signal
Know it's not a TT issue since once it started this I sync'd my BT GPS puck and it's rock solid
Just saw that this GPS problem is a known issue with the Raphael on the various threads at xda-dev. It appears that a soft-reset seems to fix the problem, but will return later. Soft-resetting each time to use the GPS is an unacceptable solution.
Same problem with iGuidance 4.0. I would get a fix then the GPS signal will go away for a second or 2 and then comes back. This continues to happen in a 10 second interval.
I have also installed Google map on my phone and it works flawlessly.
Soooooo annoying.
Try some of these methods. I haven't tried them yet but will try as soon as i get a chance which would be tomorrow.

I have the same problem has anyone found a fix for this or something that works then always soft reset? This is so frustrating!
try a diff ROM. Stock Rom sucks!
Hi all,
I've got the Touch pro for a few months now and I've tried different roms. I really like it but I have a pretty annoying problem. I've had problems with every rom I've tried and I don't think it's due to the specific roms or the radio roms I use. For instance, I've used the RomeOS and I got terrible gps fix (sometimes need a soft reset to get a fix after 15 mins) I got a bug where the phone app would launch everytime I slid out the keyboard. Also sometimes tf3d just won't start, or very slowly. With the .19 rom I got problems with normal phone reception and text messages were not being sent. Soft resets would help most of the time but not on the long term.
Now I thought I could fix the bad GPS reception with a different radio rom and that seemed to work but after a few days it turned bad again and I needed soft resets and fresh flashes of the radio roms to keep the gps working.
I'm currently using M-rom with the australian radio rom, comming from .19 which was good for a few weeks and then didn't give me any gps locks anymore. As usual it started out good but now after a few days the gps sucks again. Also the phone launching bug is back. The strange thing is that a friend of mine is using the exact same combination of roms with the exact same phone (mda vario IV) and he has no trouble at all. I always do a hard reset before and after a flash (after customization) so I don't think the problems are caused by bad flashes.
Does anyone know what's causing this or what I can do to find out?
Are you installing any additional programs on your TP? Your common denominator may be something you're installing afterwards.
I only use pimbackup to restore the contacts. I don't install much other programs...
Same problem with mine (KPN - Dutch as well). GPS starts to take more and more time after using it for a while. Even worse is not using it for a while and then using it again. My (not optimal) solution: download the QuickGPS data earlier then required, and then turn the phone off using the power button by holding it a bit longer. Subsequently go outside in the garden and start Google maps. Wait a few minutes and pray that you have a fix.
