The screen of my XDA I looks not normal anymore since a week.
There are only vertical lines on my screen; I think it is a software problem.
Does anyone now this problem and how it can be solved?
Thanks!
if hard reset doesn't solve it then it's not s/w issue
After a hard or soft reset, the problem is not solved.
But someone updated my XDA and saw the title: Microsoft Pocket PC Edition 2002. But after this welcome screen I get the same vertical lines.
Can there be something wrong with the Windows version (or is damaged)?
May he try to install Windows again?

I have just done a hard reset on my XDA. However, I am unable to get past the Align Screen mode as I align the screen but it won't go any further.
How can I get past this so that I can get into my XDA and synchronise it?
Thank you
Why isn't it getting past screen alignment? Is it not responding to taps?
V
My XDA responded to virtually nothing - I tapped the screen and it took 5 minutes to respond to every tap instead of instantly. I was advised to do a hard reset, but when I do the screen taps to align the screen, the cursor goes to the middle of the screen and nothing else happens so I am unable to progress.
Any help would be appreciated.
Ive this problem as you do,
Anyone can help?
please

Weird...
Are you using a screen protector? If so, take it off before alignment; it's possible that there's some crud stuck underneath it that's registering a tap, or something.
I can't think of anything else, besides a faulty touchscreen, or some dirt in one of the edges of the screen. Sorry.
Try reflashing the rom. If that doen't work then looks like you've got hardware failure.
kindly redirect me on how to flash the rom?
im very new

Hi,
I've just received my TyTN today and I'm not very satisfied concerning the touch screen.
I don't know what is happening but the touch screen does NOT respond properly. I've tried to clean it a bit, but the result remains the same.
When I want to use the screen keyboard, it's horrible. I point the letter A and the screen understands that I'm touching the letter under or the letter just near the "A". It's pretty impossible to write a text properly and very hard to open programs or browse with the touch screen.
Of course I've tried to align the screen. It's working without any problem then.
But after some times, opening apps, closing others (using normally the pda inf act), the problem comes back... the TyTN does't really understand where I'm touching the screen.
Then I make a screen alignement, and it's working back... It's just amazing
I don't think it's a hardware problem because the alignement is working after an align screen.
Maybe it's a known error ? Has somebody the same problem ??
Is there a rom update to fix that ? Or is it a problem of my own HTC ?
Thanks !
Can you help me please ?.
Hi,
I don't have this issue with mine...
Check the "TnTN/v1604 problem" topic maybe
I had the same thing, once, with my variO. Probably I pushed too hard onto the screen while cleaning.
Actually, this is a known problem with some of the first shipment devices. Look at the other TyTn topics i this forum.
Hi everybody!
I'm having problems with my Pocket PC.
It all begun a while ago, when a part of my screen stopped working (didn't respond to touches). So I did a hard reset. Then, it wouldn't pass the Align Screen procedure. So I made a file on the Pocket PC root folder called welcome.not - and it worked, the welcome screen was bypassed.
Now, however, everything on the screen is mirrored. Not the image on the screen but the response to my touches. So when I press the upper right corner with my stylus, it reacts in the lower left - and reverse, across the whole screen.
What I want now is of course a state like before the hard-reset. I can accept a part of the screen not working, but I want something at least to be useable.
I think this would be easily fixed by just running Align Screen, but that doesn't work - it gets stuck in a infinite loop.
Maybe there are some Align Screen "profiles" to place in the windows folder/registry?
I'm using a HP iPAQ 214 Enterprise.
Randor244
might it be a ROM problem?
Maybe, though I think the problem is that the screen is completely unaligned and therefore is totally wierd.
What I think I need is:
1. An application to browse the PPC registry from a desktop PC
2. Sceen align data to put in in the registry (I've read somewhere else that that data is stored in the registry)
Or, maybe I'm wrong
In case it is a rom problem, can I solve it easily in any way?
well to be honest, the first thing i'd do is switch a ROM... unless it's a ROM you got from XDA and is well-known..
if the rom switching doesn't work, i'd download a pda control app like MyMobiler or SOTI Pocket Controller to fix this. maybe you have hardware problems with your screen..
I don't know where the screen alignment data sits in the registry but i'm sure you can find it on this forum. if you manage to change and it still doesn't work... maybe replac ea screen? there's a marketplace section in which you might be able to buy spare parts.. and there are guide on dismantling so you can replace the screen yourself

Well, I havn't got much knowledge on how to do these things... Could I get a brief explanation?
I know what ROM is and so on... but how to switch it... hmm...
I'm sorry, can't help you with that.. i'm not familiar with the iPaq... but I understand that you never switched a ROM so it's probably the original one.. and you shouldn't have a problem with it.
try aligning your screen using the registry.. if it doesn't work.. i'd go with replacing a screen.
Yeah, I would also like to align the screen using the registry - but how? I need to know some values to input, right? And as far as I know they need to be specific for my model
So how?
maybe you can contact HP and ask them?
Hi, my htc polaris touch screen started acting strange today. Touch screen do not respond or when you touch it it randomly respond with a random command (not the one I intended to) There is no crack or physical damage. Hardware buttons seems to respond correctly. (By the way the picture on the screen is ok, I mean you see what you supposed to see, it just doesn't respond)
Anyone had similar problem? Can you advise me what to do? Thanks

use CalibrationData to fix it
i figured out that by changing sttings/home/theme from htc to windows default, screen started responding. So it looks like a software failure (theme called htc). I am still interested in a better solution.

Can you briefly explain how to use it? (In the meantime I hard reset and I still have this problem)

just with extract and import files CalibrationData.reg using Resco registry to your device
Hey guys, first post here
I bought an hx2490C from a seller and it had a chinese OS on it.
I did a ROM update on it and it was apparently an English version and it went, but now I can't get the pocket PC to boot up. It just sits at a white screen.
When I do the hard reset mentioned in the instructions, "Hold itask + calender and hold reset until it chirps" it does the chirp sound but I can't get it to display the "formatting PS" message on the display.
I can put it into preBL mode and re-flash it, but it still doesn't do anything afterward.
Was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and managed to fix theirs.
Really would appreciate some help! Thanks!
Think I found my answer, should have read this post first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=519296
Edit: It seems to be booting, just the display is grey. It also connects to my PC via ActiveSync
