you can't change these settings ... better to uncheck them in today's settings, and remoce VSbattery..lnk from the startup directory.

I just brought a universal (XDA Exec), I'm using it on 3 in the UK and have got a couple of problems.
I hard reset it and then stopped it doing the O2 customisations by doing a soft reset at that point, I then ran the mms cab file from the extended rom, giving me the mms folder.
I've got GPRS working (can access the net/3 usage page etc.), and have configured MMS to use that as the connection. I have gateway: 217.171.129.2, port number 8799 and server address http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc set, but I cannot send or receive MMS. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Also, video calling was working fine when I got the phone before I hard reset it, I've also installed the native VGA stuff and vjbigphone, now I haven't got a video call button in the phone application, and even if I hold the stylus down on a contact and select "video call" from the menu it immediately fails.
Lastly, my vjbigphone installation isn't quite complete - I've done the registry changes to make the button text bigger and that's worked fine, but I can't change the bkgnd_land or bkgnd_port files in /windows to get rid of the area the standard background doesn't quite cover in vga mode. When I try and overwrite the files, even after removing the "read only" and "system" attributes in resco explorer, I get an error saying the files are stored in ROM and cannot be overwritten.
Thanks for any info
Paul
bump... No-one got any ideas here?
thanks
Hi All,
I recently upgraded to WM6 using midgets build. I have found now that when recieving MMS they all come through as 5kb and are tiny. I have tried sending small files like 50kb to myself and they come through at 5kb too. this also happens when it gets sent from another phone to my phone.
I have checked on the other devices that the compression is disabled but still no joy. Was wondering if anyone is having the same problem? If so is there a solution? Other than this the WM6 version is very good.
Would appreciate some help.
Thanks
Hi Wolfie,
Are you sure you're using the same MMS settings you used before..? because I used both Midget's and Ivan's ROM and they both seem to have MMS working fine. I tried sending 80kb (with audio, picture and text) MMS messages to myself and I can receive the entire thing.
Hi Thanks for replying.
I'm pretty sure i'm using the same settings? What settings are you using? I am on O2 if that helps. Is there anywhere i can find the optimal settings?

hi uatec,
thanks for the settings, i tried this and still no joy!!! I can send to other phones ok but when recieving it comes very small?? I'm confused
Uhmmm... how about Photo Resolution under MMS Configuration-Preferences? Is it set to original? Have you tried playing around with the WAP version under Servers?
yep it is set to original resolution, i have tried both wap stack settings. I just reflashed the rom and still have the problems? i also tried using the settings.cab that was talked about in the other forums, still no joy. Maybe i will just ahve to stick with recieving 5kb MMS!!!
UPDATE!!
i reflashed with Ivans rom and MMS is back working again? So it must be an issue with Midgets rom? or compatability with my phone? Very interesting any thoughts as to why?
My problem is exactly the same - incoming (even selfesent MMS pictures) are coming to me with MAXIMUM size of 6KB. I use Jwrightcmp's WM5 AKU3.2 1.90.96. I put a note in relevant thread. Incoming pictures are always resized to 128x119, without any sence what resolution was the originally. Settings regarding foto in MMS composer seems to be only related to outgoing fotos but not for incoming.
So after trying what seems like an endless number of radios, I'm unable to send emails from my phone using Gmail. Before flashing Hyperdragon III onto my phone, I was able to send/receive email no problem. Now I'm only able to receive, can't send email at all - says Unable to send message(s) - error synchronizing.
If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be awesome. This is starting to get frustrating.
start, settings, connections, manage existing, proxy settings, un-check this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet
Checked that and the option to use a proxy is already disabled. Any other ideas? Definitely appreciate the suggestion tho.
PS. I also have the cabs to enable/disable the cingular/att proxy and neither makes a difference. Before changing the ROM, emails would send regardless of which setting I used. Hope this helps.

Edit Account setup, then keep hitting mext until you get to the outgoing server settings and after "smtp.gmail.com" add ":587" to the end.
Worked immediately for me. It has to do with the new server authentication that wm6.1 or something requires.
Hope that fixes your problem! let me know if I need to be more specific, I'm at school and I gotta run.
Tried that and no dice. Does seem to be a WM6.1 issue though from what I've been reading.
maybe you should flash different HyderDragon...as there are two new versions came out. Or maybe try to flash the radio...Do you know what radio version you were using before flashed to HDIII?
Don't think it's the radio at this point. I've tried most of them in an attempt to fix the problem, but the 6.0-6.1 upgrade seems to be the culprit.

it prolly is, i mean since its release theres been all sorts of bugs reported ( as well as with HPD III, hence why i wont flash it ) but imo what u should do is start over..
re-flash, get ur new radio and take it from there
Jstar
try running the remove hidden proxy cab and then run the restore hidden proxy cab. i had this problem with gmail before and i think thats how i fixed it. it has nothing to do with the radio your using. just go to at&ts site and look up the connection settings and make sure everything makes sense...
If that doesn't work.
You could always try this.
I seriously doubt this is a radio related issue

To configure IMAP for your Windows Mobile 6 device, just follow these steps:
Enable IMAP in your Gmail settings.
Open the Start menu and select Programs > Messaging > New E-mail Account.

Checked that already, too. I'm not exactly a total noob I've had all my stuff working perfectly until upgrading to WM 6.1. The Hyperdragon rom was after the initial upgrade from 6-6.1. Email sending (receiving is fine) through my Gmail accounts just doesn't seem to work now. I suppose I can go back to stock, but... *shudder*
short description of the problem:
sending of emails would fail whilst you could receive emails.
I had the same problem. It can work normally for weeks and suddenly stop and again eventually start working again....
Applying this patch will fix this. I tested it and it works
Overview from microsoft.com
Overview
This behavior is associated with a feature that was introduced in Windows Mobile 6.1. It provides a way for users to send e-mail through an alternate outbound e-mail server provided by their mobile operator in the event that the default outbound e-mail server becomes inaccessible.
The problem occurs if a mobile operator doesn't use this feature, and therefore doesn't supply a value for the alternate SMTP address. When the mobile device fails on any attempt to connect to the e-mail provider's default SMTP server, Windows Mobile 6.1 automatically loads the value for the alternate SMTP server—which in this case is blank. The e-mail account configuration details are then corrupted, which results in loss of the ability to send e-mail with that particular e-mail account.
With this fix, the feature is patched to ensure that Windows Mobile 6.1 takes appropriate action when it detects a blank value for the Alternate SMTP server.
Note: After you apply this hot fix to your mobile device, the messages that have been sitting in the Outbox folder of your affected POP and IMAP e-mail account(s) will be sent. Since these messages could be out of date, you might not want to send them now. You can keep these messages from being sent by navigating to the Outbox folder of these accounts, and then either delete them, or move them to another folder. On Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional devices, you can access account folders by tapping the folder drop-down located in the upper left portion of the message list. On Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard devices, you can access account folders by pressing the Menu soft key, and then selecting Folders.

Mine did the exact same thing after I was prompted if I wanted to run it.
Go check your add/remove programs and see if the KB is listed there; on mine it was after the first reboot. Maybe the installation only takes a second and soft resets right away?
i think it was intended to do this..
microsoft always wants you to reboot your device/pc after updating..
my also soft-reset but afterwards the problem was gone
I tried to install the CAB file, but I get this error.
This update cannot be installed on this version of Windows Mobile. Current: 6.1 AKU 1.5.0.0 Build 20273 Platform 2
Anyone knows what the problem is? Thanks!
Anyone actually have this work? I've been having this problem since day one... I hard reset today and installed the hotfix immediately and it still happens. 1st email using imap on gmail will go through, the next will fail and that's the end of it. I have to delete the account and re-create to get one more email through before it starts failing again.
I have already tried this patch and still cannot send email, the error says something about making sure my user information is correct and try again.
I am thinking that it is my email client (AKO..military) that will not allow sending from imap/pop in order to keep tabs on security.

I am also facing the same issue. did u get it resolved?
Make sure your carrier doesnt have a different SMTP setting for mobile phones. Some do some dont.
I have this issue on my laptop, when i tried to send from my home internet i can not use and SMTP for a specific account, but at work I can. When we investigated it, we found that our work internet connection allows various SMTP's all on the same service, but on our home we could only use the home SMTP. BOth internet connections are on the same ISP it was jsut a setting they have for work and home connections that we had to work around. It might have some of the same issues on mobiles.
Did anyone managed to get it resolved? I have this patch installed but still cannot send email. There is no SMTP problem, I just can't send it :/
The only way I've ever been able to resolve it is to delete the account, and then created it again.
I've had the same problem.
I tried the microsoft patch AND it didn't work!
I can receive email but cannot send it.
When we changed our ISP at work from Orange to TalkTalk we couldn't send anymore using our Orange SMTP, apparently, when you send email, you can only send through your Internet Access Provider's outbound (SMTP) mail server.
So I tried the same with my v1615
Instead of using smtp.talktalkbusiness.net, I changed it to send.vodafone.net (I'm on vodafone obviously) and it works! (so far)
Possibly, you may be able to find your networks smtp?
Is there a way to disable the "add to contacts" pop-up the occurs when a call is ended with a party whos phone number not currently in contacts? I called my help desk and they said sure, just select the automatic add to contact selection in phone options and volia no more pop-up, I said thanks but I don't want to have every telemarketer and political call phone mill stored as contacts.
I hunted around in the registry and found "currentuser\controlpanel\phone\storecontact" This looks like it could be it, but I can not find any info that confirms after searching.
Can anyone help, will this key do the trick and what should I change the setting to?
Thanks!
