I love the MylPhone plugin. It show the signal strengh, last call, last sms.
But is there a tool somewhere to show the provider's name?
Why do I need this tool?
Because I have a dual sim in my XDA2 and I never know wich provider im in.
I have toopen the Phone Program in order to discover it.
It couls be cool to have it in Today's page (with a Logo will be great, but without will be cool also)
Thanks
Nicolas
Nicolas,
What type of DUAL SIM adapter do you use?
Where did you buy it?
At what price?
Regards,
Joost
I use Phone Today 1.0 for that

Dual Sim
Hi edsub,
I order my dual sim card over here : http://www.mobileplace.co.uk/scategory/85
they delivered very fast, 3 days. I just order a second one for a friend who got a Nokia 6600.
The total cost, shipping included was 23 Euro.
Work Great. It's a little bit hard to close the back cover, but after you have done so, then you are ready to rock and roll.
In order to swich provider, you just have to turn OFF the radio and turn it back ON. Each time you do so, you switch.
Enjoy

Hi there,
I do really like my XDAiis, but the one thing I don't like is that it's a really anti-social hunk of plastic to carry around with you.
I don't mind normally, but say I want to go out at the weekend for some 'disc-dancing' of sorts, I don't want to haul that around, and I especially don't want to leave it in my jacket and put it in cloakrooms - or even just have a massive bulge in my pocket from keeping it there.
My plan was to stick the sim-card into my X70 when I go out - but then, if I do that, it'll wipe the memory from the XDA when I take the battery off.
So, the current way I'm doing it is I've got a simple Pay as you Go sim card which I divert the XDA to - but this is a pain, as i can't divert text messages to it.
Can anyone come up with a better solution?

Are you sure it wipes the memory if the battery is taken out? Like a hard reset? Can someone confirm this please.
Cheers
ps I ask as it was also my plan to take out the SIM and stick in an old phone if I was planning to get smashed....
HPJ
You should have 20 minutes to put the battery back on before the it wipes the memory. That's what the backup battery is for.
You can check the status of that battery using the normal power program. My instruction manuals recommends I never remove the battery if the battery backup is less than 50%, but assuming it was 100%, you have 20 minutes to take out the sim card... Should be enough time
OH!! Cool!!
And I guess it all works fine without the sim card then - or even if it doesn't work - it'll still be in the same state when I chuck the sim back into it again?
Now just got to work out how to unlock the X70 from Orange, so I can use it with 02!!
Thanks for your help.
Jsedit.
True you should have around 20 minutes to play with if the backup battery is fully charged.
Another option would be to speak to O2 and get another simcard - a clone of the one you currently have so to speak..
That way you can leave the sim in the xda and just shutdown the phone bit, will save a lot of faffing around changing sims all the time.
O2 should be able to do it, if they ask why tell them you need a clone sim to put into your car (some have their own built in phone, that just requires a sim) then they may be more willing to do it.
Cheers
Neil
I tried this swifty, but O2 would not play the game. Some providers will provide dual sims, but it seems that none of the UK providers will.
I use a P&G sim in my ancient T68i

hehe, i had my phone out with me to IO in glasgow,
theres around 50mb of videos, plus is had Above & Beyond taking a video up at the deks down to all the clubbers!, there all mp4 though, need to get em onto wmv for me comp.
ill be taking my spv with me to every club now, the punters luv it!
just make sure you have a firm grip though
I was happy with my TC from January 08 till a last saturday.
With no any visible reason (moisture, hits e.t.c.), it fails to recognize the SIM card.
Soft/Hard reset was performed. The SIM is tested on other phone and is ok. Other SIM cards (different operators) inserted in TC gives the same result "No SIM card".
Contacts are clean. VCC/GND pins on SIM connector gives long pulse of power on phone bootup stage.
Any ideas guys?
Is it posible fault of SIM EMI filter? (if it have a place in HTC phones)
Can it be some fail in Radio ROM?
The TC have original ROM 1.25.405.1 WWE and Radio: 1.58.21.23
POLA100 SPL-1.25.0000 CPLD-2
And never was reprogrammed.
Thanks
check hard ware plz sir
Test with another sim card
I've seen the same on my TC a while a after upgrading to Bepe's rom and Murata radio.
Mine was sporadic on when it picked up the sim card. Sometimes it would just show next to no signal and after switching the radio off then on it'll show no sim with a reset workin sometimes.
Fiexed mine by flashing back to an older O2 radio rom then back to Murata, and got better signal strength as well
I'd say different radio rom's can definetly cause this but if you haven't upgraded the radio it's probly a hardware thang, return it!

5 different SIM cards ill tried yesterday.
Local retail is not giving support to phones purchased in other countries.
No response from HTC. How many days it’s take to answer to e-mail?
It's driving me crazy!

Interesting. Seems like Radio ROM is responsible to interfacing the SIM. But I really haven't upgraded the ROMs before. So if it possible data corruption on flash? I think it should be ECC protected.
If the HTC support will stay sleeping, I think, I can't help but reprogram the Radio ROM...and open the motherboard to some inspection...and void the waranty...and brick my device...and smash it on the wall. This issue is realy depressing me. It's looks like I have now a super expansive, relatively new PDA, including: GPS, camera, WiFi....but with no phone! Hard to realize that the name of the device "Touch Cruise" meaning endless cruising of the phone from customer to support lab and back after they touch him.
I feel your pain man.
maybe see if your current radio rom is avaliable here or dump it yourself (just for warranty return purposes) then try flashing a few other radio roms???
It's easy as hell and won't void your warranty.

Ok. It is definitely a f***g HW problem.
I tried different Radio and System ROMs, but same result: "The SIM card is missing".
Now are options: some cold soldering have a place; burned ESD protection device on SIM card interface CLK / I/O or Controller logic.
A big dilemma is: void the warranty and try to find this **** by myself or send it to replace. Anybody has a deal with a HTC warranty return? Definitely it's can take a lot of weeks to mailing the unit and waiting for result.
Bad HW quality I have to say. My old good Himalaya survived after deep diving to hot soup, followed motherboard cleaning, display replacing and gives stable work over 3 years after that, so many drops on the floor. (thank you, folks, for providing Himalaya WM5, wich was so more stable than HTC crap were shipped)
And this, Tom Cruise, after so short period of extremely gentle using, only have to say me: "No SIM".
So i go to find and prepare my tools. A next possible weak place in the chain: mr. ESD protection EMI Filter.
P.S. Maybe someone here can help with a relevant peace of "Polaris Service Manual"?
I need you support guys, and feeling more stronger with you!
(HTC support still keep the silence, nothing but automatic reply of e-mail robot to each request with congratulations. They all are in holiday or something?)
I had the same problem with mine.
My Touch Cruise worked OK with sim card the first weeks. Then it started eventualy not recognicing the sim card. After removing it and placing it back, I could get it back recogniced until one day, it didn't work any more. I sent it to the HTC support, 6 weeks later they sent me back. They told me they replaced the motherboard.
The rom was the original one. I didn't do any rom o radio upgrade.
I'm spanish and my english is not very good.

It's ok, my mother language is russian and now I'm in Israel, so my english is far from beeing a perfect to. Today is a 4-th day I'm waiting to answer from HTC.
Simple measurements without opening the TC body gives:
pin 1 - VCC 3V is OK
pin 2 - Reset is OK
pin 3 - CLK - Nothing!!!
pin 4 - GND is OK
pin 5 - Vpp not interesting at this stage
pin 6 - Data I/O is OK
Clock is not provided to the SIM, thats all.
Is EMI gasket behind the connector in place?
clock is very important no - clk no data
m/b provide clock and reset signal , i/o signal is two way signal from sim to m/b and from m/b to sim
this protocol is I2C
thats why need all 5 signals ready
GND, VCC - 1.8 - 3.3v automatic, I/O ,RESET ,Clock
old sim card was 5v but now are from 1.8 - 3.3v
Think i have the same problem...
Did you find a fix for it? or you just send it back to HTC for repairing?.
I've also read in other threads, that sticking a peace of paper between the card holder and the battery cover, giving some pressure to the sim against the contacs pins may solve the problem. Trying now, working so long... Hope will work, i don't want to be 6 week waiting for my phone to get back...
EDLL
did you guys ever found a solution to this? or Warranty is the only way to go ?
Hi guys,
Same problem happens to my Touch Cruise... I've tried many things as well and found no help. Dismantling the unit to check the gasket, remove and remount the SIM socket showed no improvement.
The SIM was sometimes recognized after unmounting / remounting the unit, but after a few hours, "No SIM" message again.
I've tried to messure GND connections on the SIM socket (since GND is provided by the gasket) and all was fine.
Also tried to place the piece of paper in between the batery cover and the SIM socket... and turned to be useless.
Also, manualy sticking the SIM card against the SIM contacts (without the SIM driver metal door) and nothing...
I'm planning to request for a brand new SIM socket... but after reading all your comments... I'm not quite sure if the problem will remain with the replacement or not.
I have changed the ROM and radio several times with no success as well.
If somebody thinks anything else can be done to sove this problems... please help!!
Thanks and regards,
Vissi
SIM dependent issue
Hi,
I'm facing a similar issue: I use my Touch Cruise almost for a year with no issues. Now I decided to change provider, and purchased a prepaid SIM card to test the service, call quality, etc.
When I inserted the new SIM, I got this no SIM message. Tried several times with no success.
The new SIM card works fine in other phones, as well as the TC with my original SIM card.
Any idea?
Cheers
Anyone had experienced this problem and managed to solve it is kindly asked to share info. The rest of the phone works great, I have installed touch flo 3D, IGO8... but it does not see the sim.
Old SIM card?

I am having the same problem and I ordered a Sim Holder replacement from Ebay, maybe that will fix my problem...
What is a sim Holder replacement, niabi? Your problem was software or hardware problem?
I think my problem is hardware, still waiting on the sim holder to get here.
I got it from Ebay here
I had the same problem a week ago and I managed to solve it by dismantling the SIM unit and the data cable.
I figured out that one of the two little screws were not fully pressing the unit to its base... Don't know if this had anything to do.
I mounted the whole think again and it worked 100% fully...
I was about to ask for a replacement on eBay too..
Regards.
I have a similar problem. I bought a Polaris from Taiwan for my brother in law. But the phone does not work. Every other function works on the phone, it can access the contacts on the SIM but cannot connect to Turkcell network.
It just says "searching" or sometimes "access denied". We tried different sim cards but always the same thing. It can access the contacts on the SIM card but cannot access network. I tried different radio/main roms including the latest radio but no solution.
Can it be due to sim holder? Since it can see the contacts I doubted it..
my problem is still not resolved even with the new sim holder been trying several things, the only thing that I think could be wrong is if the cable is not doing good contact on the board, and for that I think I am screwed
but, is this something that happends a lot?
Hi guys,
using this device for a couple of month now without problems
today when I was driving I guess I pressed something wrong 'cause the phone network settings popped and I accidentally chose the wrong provider and now the phone says there is NO SIM!!!! ahhh
Tried shutting it down, restarting it, taking battery & sim out, resetting the phone for yesterdays settings, resetting it to manufacture settings and nothing helped still a message saying NO SIM
so.......... I got to options either the sim went dead in the middle of the day 'cause I told it to use a different provider then mine or the device is a goner.............
tried installing an old sim (not 3.5G) and it still said NO SIM
what say u ?
oh and pls help me
thanks
have you warranty for your phone? looks like you have hardware failed.
well I think the device is in warranty (two and a half month old) the problem is that it was a prize in a competition in the grand nation of america and we are far away from there.....
could it be malfunctioning in the software ?
I am upgrading the rom now maybe it will reslove itself
well updating the Rom to the latest with WM 6.1 didnt solve my problem
is there anyone here who has a similar problem with this or any of HTC devices (Lost the ability to recognise SIM cards) ??????
I've seen a few posts on this forum, complaining on a SIM troubles. If i remember correctly, the reason has been a bad SIM holder socket or something similar. Try looking for those forum threads for more info.
Anyway, the first thing i would probably try is carefully cleaning the SIM socket contacts as well as the actual SIM card contacts with alcohol or something, just to make sure it isn't just a bad contact.
I have been there. My device has been repaired twice and works fine now. The last repair concerned the socket indeed. Maybe that's your problem as well, so check:
- does your SIM work in another mobile?
- does another SIM work in your TC?
- did you clean, reseat your SIM card, try a few times!?
Good luck!
I've polaris too and i've already replaced the sim socket, which malfunctioned..2 weeks after replacement weird things started to happen. I would loose coverage while having a conversation in a place, where all bars are full. Then, after restarting the phone it would show that no sim is inserted AND here's the funny part, after the next restart, the device would return to normal. I could make calls for another day and then it goes again..Right now a week has gone by while i'm restarting my phone every day. The problem is, that right now i need to restart my phone 3-5 times for it to start working normally again (without saying that no sim is inserted).
I can't work out why would this be happening, because if it would be a bad socket, i couldn't use it again after restart, but i CAN.
Can anyone give me advice? Maybe there's a virus from which you can't recover just by flashing the rom
I had the same issue! Therefore I had the phone 3 times in repair under warranty and the issue wasn't rapaired until the third time! All together the phone was in repair over more than 2 months!
I'm pissed off on this lousy service at HTC!
I'm hoping for you not to have such a misfortune then I...
I had the same problem after dismantling.
For me it was that the SIM cable that is going to the motherboard was way to inward. I just withdraw it a bit and that did the trick.
try to install new radio..
if still doesn't works, maybe ur htc hardware problem
I agree with wakhairul2,
if it's not the Radio Rom (GSM depends from it) so it's the hardware!
if it's the second, this is common, Simcard Holder Flex for the Touch Cruise fails easily! but it's also very easy to find a cheap spare..
Anyway, if you have warranty and is less costly then go there..
Else, for a new Simholder hardware check the ebay, Click here to view
You can find for lower than 15 Euros.
Good luck
So i'm finally doing it, buying a used TP2 from someone on craigslist.
Any suggestions on what to look for when I inspect the phone before handing over the money?
Cosmetic issues aside, I'm more looking for software problems that i should keep an eye out for. thanks
I buyed one..i test the connections GPS, BT, WiFI, Charging, Active sync with comp... But... when i start to use the phone on full capacity the windows crashed..restart after restart..take care....to be a total lose i try to rewrite the windows..and by mistake a start to write Rafael software instead of Rhodium..and right the phone is at a profesional service..Please take care.
Telus Phone
Hi there ,
I have a telus TP2, and I did drop it 2 or 3 times on the ground.from the table. (nothing is broken)
But If I check closely the space from the Keyboard to the lcd (closed phone) I see that I "could" open it from the wrong side..
The phone is not "flush" anymore.
So if you see "through" the phone (1mm/1.5mm) that means the phone was probably dropped.. (best guess)
