Dear all,
Upgrade to the latest firmware from XDA II offical website but have this annoying problem. I have "Flash Light On" checked for reminder, SMS, incoming email. The lights will not turn off 9 out of 10 times after I dismiss the message. This problem does not exist in the earlier version of firmware. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Thanks.
Regards,
Kueh.
Yes, I seem to have the same problem. It appears to switch off after a while though.
I have this problem too.
I have this problem too but nobody can provide a solution. I wish I can go back to my old ROM. Is there a way I could get hold of the previous ROM version prior to the current version?
We already have a thread about this topic. We can continue the discussion there so the answers are all in one place. Thanks.

I flashed Serendipity 6.2 on my Captivate yesterday and I've noticed a problem. The backlight on my buttons at the bottom of the screen stay on all the time, the settings, home, back and info buttons. I cannot find a setting to turn off the backlights on them or a setting to say how long they stay on until they go off. It's draining my battery faster because of it. Has anyone else noticed this problem with Serendipity 6.2, or am I missing a setting somewhere?
Thanks in advance,
That is a feature in the ROM/Kernel, not a defect. If can be turned off/on in the recovery menu, or controlled via an app.

BLN (black light notification) is not supposed to stay on permanently.
but try booting into clockwork recovery > find BLN settings and disable.
give that a try.
OR it could be a problem with "keep the lights on" or whatever patch/method that rom uses to keep the lights on while touching screen.
also you get more help posting Questions in the Questions and Answer section... or more specifically the Serendipity Q&A thread
For the millionth time:
It's BLN.
It's not a bug.
It's not a problem.
It's not draining battery.
RTFM.

Thanks for the help guys.
Trusello, I'll keep that in mind on the Q&A thread.
MikeyMike, I'm a relative newbie to android and just got into modding my phone. I'm also new to the forum here and the bulk of information can be overwhelming. I'm still learning my way around to forum so please be patient with a new android user.
Thanks again for all your help.
In the future, most of the ROMs in here have a dedicated sticky in the Q&A subforum where questions like this should go.
Latest distro of RG2X MIUI installed... I can't seem to find any way to adjust or disable the LED notification when an Email/SMS/Call is received/missed. Anyone have any insight?
I like the LED notification, however it seems to destroy my battery life if I don't clear the notification in a reasonable amount of time. I wouldn't think it to be the problem, however if I go without getting notifications, my battery life is great.
TIA
searched the thread came up with this, courtesy of psychoace
Go to the home screen
Hit the search button
Hit menu
Go to search settings
Turn on settings search
Back out
Hit search again and type either trackball or led
You now have control of your capacitive button lights
and maybe next time search the thread or ask in there before making a whole new thread when you don't have to... that is an old solution and MIUI has been updated since so I don't know if it'll work or not... post your results if it worked.

While I should have mentioned in my original post that I DID SEARCH for a solution, I don't see the necessity for the contempt.
I did try the method mentioned, PRIOR to posting this thread. Neither LED or Trackball shows up in the search after enabling the settings search.
In summary, the proposed solution does not work for RG2X MIUI 2.3.24
hmmm I didn't think it would, I don't know what to tell you hopefully someone can help out.
Ok, an update for anyone who may have a similar problem.
I could not get the above mentioned solution to work, at first. After getting a bit frustrated with the matter, I performed a completely clean flash of the ROM again, re downloaded, etc... and now the above solution does work.
Another inexplicable and random quark I suppose.
Thanks for the help, mt3g.
Interesting but glad it worked out

Hello all.
I just bought my galaxy s3 today and i've been having some problems. I've done a search throughout the forums and i couldn't find anything on it so i thought i'll give it a shot by posting a thread.
After i receive a text message the notification won't go away. Even after i have read and replied the notification still stays.
Also i have a folder made to keep all the apps that use on the front screen. after pressing the home button to close an app the folder opens up.
i googled these problems and have found questions without any answers. If anyone can shed a light on what the issue is and how to fix it i'd greatly appreciate it. thanks!
Hello, this is my first post on this site, so I apologize in advance for any mistakes or lack of information I give. I also apologize for the length of this question. I have the istar i9920, its a copy of the Samsung galaxy note, I got it from overseas, its an exact replica, but I have an issue. There is no notification light on it, and that bothers me very much. I did research and found an app called "BLN control", which is supposed to make the keys (menu and back keys) blink as a way of notifying me of a received text message, missed call, voice mail, etc. However, its telling me that the BLN mod is not installed. I have absolutely no idea what to do. It gave me a site to go to, this one, and i read some forums. I clicked on a link and it took me to this app called "SGS kernel flasher" but it said "Error: the flash type of this device is not yet supported!" Please help, I'm getting extremely annoyed. Thank you.
Not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but when I upgraded Viper recently on my phone, text message previews keep coming up on the lock screen (showing my messages). I have the Settings --> Privacy --> Message notification preview, turned off but it still keeps showing the message.
Anyway to still keep the notification (and status bar notification) but leave the preview off? It was working before. Not sure if anyone else has had this problem. I looked for answers but only found the above setting, but no dice.
If anyone anyone can help or provide any suggestions, it would be much appreciated.
I think it's already been mentioned in the development thread and Turge is looking into it.
