Been heavily testing my 4g all over my city of Greensboro, NC for three days now. No signal issues, no drops, stays 4g everywhere except in my office building. All four carriers suck in my building. Even then... I still get 4g inside most of the time. My downloads blaze! Running simultaneous tests against my woman's G2... my Sensation is always a little faster.
Average bandwidth = 3 Mbs to 9 Mbs
If you experience slow latency (like the market is slow to load) go to this post for a neat fix. Mine loads everything faster now.
-edit-
Takes me about 10 seconds to fully load everything on the Engadget web site with plug ins on and desktop browser mode. This is using Dolphin HD browser. That's fast!
If you use the speedtest.net app click the results tab after the test for the true speeds. The main display seems to lie.
I'm in Baltimore, MD and so far I'm getting about 800 k up and down. About 10 times as fast as my Sprint 3g connection.

800k could be the "speed" and equate to a 6.4 Mbs "pipe"
I'm hitting 9- 10 mbs by my house and job consistently.

I did the fix yesterday and it is still slower than my vision. Just my pyramid stays connected to 4g easier even during phone calls.

Could be a typo too ... or could just be really crappy network speed if it is indeed 800kbps.
No its really 800k. Today I hit around 1400k down 900 up. I'm happy tho. On Verizon I was getting 600 kbps if I was lucky. And I'd be lucky to top 100kbps these last few months I was on Sprint

I might be getting this phone from my sprint evo 4g phone but it is NOT 4g, it is HSPA+. Why does everyone insist on calling it a 4g phone?

Oh let it go already. Even the bodies that define the term have given into the marketing hype. "4G" is said to use a term everyone knows already. The few of us geeks who know otherwise understand just the same. I'm sure you do too.
Bottom line, it's got speed, that's what everyone wants. None of the carriers reach what the original definition of 4G was to be. The carriers call it 4G, so just use the term for the sake of agreement. What the carriers originally called "3G" was not really 3G, but let's not get caught up in a side bar when everyone knows what is being asked. Either the device reaches speeds the carrier calls their "4G" speeds or it does not.

2g reception
i have tried the quick fix to no avail. i am running on 2g speeds around my house. 1 mile over though i am getting 4g speeds.
question is, is this a tmobile tower related issue or a issue with the radio on the phone.
edit- i was getting at least 3g speeds on my old samsung behold in the same area.
New Orleans, La.
I live in Knoxville, TN. I am lucky to get 600 kbps around here. I have occasionally hit 6-9 Mbps, but only a handful of times, and not for more than a couple minutes. Not sure if it's a tower issue, or a radio issue. T-Mobile is looking into. My speeds were much faster when I had my Evo on Sprint

Don't get me wrong. That is the reason I said I am dumping my HTC Evo. I ran a test on tmo speeds on a g2x and I was blown away. So I figured, why the hell do I need to pay for premium data when 4G is not even available in my area since Sept. 2010.
So I decided that I will be getting this phone tomorrow when it releases at a retailer. But my argument still stands, it is HSPA+.
I got mine from Wal-Mart on the 9th.. unless u meant a tmobile retail store.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
costco is what I meant. Are there upcoming deals from any of the retail stores(walmart, sams, costco, etc)
Speeds in Minnesota stinks a$s.. I'm everywhere from anoka all the way south to Burnsville.. I haven't got anything over 5 mbps .. I consistantly get 1-1.5mbps with 2-3 4g bars...

You would be better off getting ATT go phone sin. I'm getting good speeds hspa+. ATT will tell u it won't work. U will just need to change sim. I just went through the tmobile edge deal. That sucked. Slow well now on gophone

No, simple mobile runs off of tmobiles network so your stuck on edge. Straight talk uses att so you'll actually get 3g with them

I use straight talk, and the internet is quite fast. HSDPA, my phone even recognizes and picks up the phones supposed 4G service at times depending on my location at time and question.. Certain APN settings can ALSO however, affect the speed, a few MB/s at most. When I have edge, my speed averages, .50 to 1.70 MB/s. Could even be your current baseband kernel.(Flashed Radio).
How does simple mobile's $40 unlimited plan work with the One S?Is any body in here on that plan? If so what is the data speed? I am planning on using the One S on TMO's $30 5gb data plan but the 100 mins is too short. If the SM plan has 3g unlimitted I'd rather sacrifice 4g speed for unlimitted mins and 3g. Thanks.
Sent from my EVO 4G using XDA
I wouldn't go simple mobile because I had the $40 plan back on my amaze and the 3G speeds are a joke. Also if you want to use the internet you must program the APN settings which is annoying and sometimes doesnt work anyways along with MMS.
Sent from my HTC One S
But it is on simple mobile's approved phone list,it even states that it will work on SM's 4g.
Sent from my EVO 4G using XDA
Does Simple use T-Mobile's 3G bands? If not, the best you'll get is EDGE.
True, but they cap you at around 1GB of data use on 4G and 3G speeds are the same as EDGE speeds. I never had a problem with simple mobile till last month when they completely cut off my data for going over 1.5 GB on my Nexus Prime. I was on their $60 plan. There are also videos on YouTube that show simple mobiles 3G speeds and why you shouldn't go with them.

After 2 gigs it they do throttle unfortunately... but I've never heard of the account shut downs. If you use Wi-Fi ad much as I do send make sure you check the 848484 info via text messages you should be fine. This is coming from a heavy data user. Minor adjustments made and its well worth it

Hi, first i just wanna say sorry if my english its pretty bad.
I just wonder if anyone knows how to activate the 4G because i just have 4 options:
Only 2G
Only 3G
Automatic 2G/3G
Automatic 2G/3G/4G
But there's no "only 4G" option, and im always on H+
And yes actually my company offered 4G services where i live, btw im from Mexico and my company is Telcel.
But i was looking for some kind of code to activate 4G and disable H+
My theory is... i got better signal with H+ thats why im always connected with that band.
So, if anyone of you could help me i will be glad

the real problem is that the version of LTE that Verizon handles is different from the version that handles Telcel, I've been investigating and no way to change it for now, that Verizon handles HD Maxx and until there is another company that can handle it and make a different version of the radio to change to support Telcel, no momentary solution. i'm from mty, send me a private message for a better explanation or explanation in spanish jajajajajaja
