Hey
After hardresetting, the problem is solved of the contacts one, but it comes again after some time when we use, can anybody tell me how to fix this problem permanently

If you upgrade from WM5 to WM6, the first most people do thing is to restore the contact list for WM5 with a backup/restore program. Unfortunately, that won't work. The format of contact list for two OS are different, why? Ask Microsoft and kick their asses. You need to Activesync the contacts from Outlook with the PDA. I didn't like Outlook and never used it and all my contacts in my Prophet are created with phone or PDA. Because of WM6, I had to learn how to use Outlook and add/update the contact list in Outlook so it can transfer/translate to WM6. It wasn't that bad afterall. Once again, Microsoft wins.

Why don't you think about PPCPimBackup.exe to backup Contact? It is suitable for WM5 and WM6! Try it if you don't like MS Outlook!

Thanks in advance for you suggestion. I will try it. Please note my Contacts has Chinese characters and found ContactBackup(sic) backed up my English contacts well but wrong code for Chinese contacts.
Also, there are notes also embedded in the Contacts, will test if PPCPimBackup works well with the notes, birthday, email address and multiple phone numbers. I can let go the contact history.

please save my contacts list..... please.....!!!!!

Hello,
I need a GREAT favor from someone.
I did the upgrade in my Qtek 2020 for the WM2005 and I have mine backup of contacts made with xbackup in the W2003SE.
What I want, is that someone that has the W2003/W2003SE loads my list of contact in its qtek and make a backup with activesync or with outlook of windows.
Only that way, I will be able to have my contacts in the WM2005 without needing to again make downgrade and upgrade to the ROM.
Who will have the pleasantness to make me this great favor, please indicate its address of email so that I can send the file of backup that I have made with xbackup of my list of contact.
Thanks,
Eng Ricardo Gomes
Hi
I have the same problem. I had the Windows Mobile 2003 SE and upgraded to Windows Mobile 5, i didnt realize the contact situation and didnt even dream activesync 4.1 would not have a backup /restore. I have the backup of my contacts in the following 2 formats
1. Xbackup - wont open says backup information error, in WM 5
2. Activesync - Do not know how to restore
Could some body guide me, i will be really grateful if i get out of this fix.
Thx in advance
Murali
Excuse me , but , i dont uderstand your problem ....
you have a device with wm2003 or wm2003se .... you synchronize it with your pc , and your contact list is savec in your pc's outlook software
you can upgrade your device to wm2005 and synchronize it with your pc .... active sync inject the outlook contact list on your ppc , that's all !!
TofClock is right ... it worked for me after good advice to this effect. Make sure you are using ActiveSynch 4.1 when you synchronize (with Outlook) your PC under WM2003SE, then sychronize back the other way once you have flashed WM5 into ROM.
xBackup
Of course TofClock is right about backing up from PC but the problem that savagemen is describing is different. In 2003 there was a feature called "xBackup" that allowed you to backup and restore 'All Data' or only 'Contacts and Appointments' drectly to/from the storage card. This meant that you didn't need the PC at all. The "xBackup" feature does not appear in the 2005 Program file as it did in 2003's. I was very used to this feature and am desperate to get it on my 2005 upraded sx66. Any ideas?

As written alot about in much threads and forums, the xbackup is not available for wm5.
So for as far as my humble knowledge go's, i'd do it with outlook as leading person to sync the old contacts to the new rom.
Most quickest i think, without any hassle about "what if" problems

We are all reading from the same page. Yep ... Xbackup is no longer needed (or works) with persistent storage. And yes, I quite understand that he wants someone else to put themselves out and load his contacts, calendar and so on. But why doesn't he simply flash back to WM2003 >>> backup with ActiveSynch 4.1 onto this PC >>> flash the ROM to WM5 again and then restore with ActiveSynch 4.1. Problem solved. :!:

restoring contacts from imate jam to imate sp5m

i got a new imate sp5m but the problem is tht i sold off my imate jam with which i had taken my contacts backup through x backup and now since the sp5m doesnt have a restore option nor does it have x backup how do i open the file compactflashbackuppim since it doesnt have any extension and how do i open it/import its contents in outlook or is there any other procedure ?
could anyone help me with a solution or a link regarding this..??
Perhaps you should take some time to write correctly, with punctuation and all. Sometimes writing clearly helps understanding one's problem better, anyway in this state, it's normal that nobody answered you. If you don't take the time to write clearly, no-one will take the time to answer you, too.
So... I think what you need is called Jeyo Outlook Extender or Jeyo Mobile Companion.
Well thanks for the reply, and i found out only one way to sort the thing out ! Borrowed my friends o2 mini and synchronized my file with outlook express and exported out a .csv file..now i can sync all my contacts and calender appointments with my new phone..

PIM Backup 2.5
here it is
I find it easier to just let it sync with outlook after a rom upgrade. you will get all your contacts and mails back.
but make sure to use the pimbackup to keep your sms messages and call logs etc.

My push email server and pim backup started conflicting with each other after a few rom flashes so now only my email syncs with the server...I backup everything else via Pim Backup.

It's not a WinMo phone, right? contact your service provider. Most have the means to conduct PIM transfers between incompatible phones. Most will also charge you for the luxury. I think it's usually worth it not to have to retype every contact, when you have over a hundred...

ActiveSync doesn't sync SMSes.
You can try Jeyo software..
THX, for the replys.
just to clear.
I´d like to move all my SMS, what are now on the T-Cruise, and put it on the Diamond, so that it seems that the Diamond have got it.
So just move all the sms from one Device to the other.
thx

Use PimBackup to back up your SMSs on the Cruise and then copy the backup file to the Diamond and restore them, again using PimBackup

How is this realted to HTC accessories?
Please post in the correct subforum!

Is it so difficult to sync SMS?

I know about Jayo solution but seems it doesn't work with everybody.
Is it so difficult to sync SMS (and if possible MMS) with Outlook?
Is it THAT hard?
WM should do it anyway, but are there any real working WM6.1 solutions?

Considering the overall status of the WM6.1 synchronisation (it can't even cope with two PCs anymore) I think there is little hope that Microsoft will ever include SMS sync in the WM features.

Its another one of those MS "We'll get to it soon" requests...
I use Jeyo and so long as you use Office 2007 it works fine. Its' flakey with anything earlier though.
Try the trial version.
will do - a friend didn't get lucky though (with Office 2007)

You may be lucky!
Used it myself on three different PC's with Wizard, Kaiser and now Touch Pro so WM5.0, 6.0 and 6.1.
If you read the FAQ on their support forum http://www.jeyo.com/forums.asp?forum=0 it gives tips for setting up.
hmmm
i can sync with 2 pc...makes troubles and double entries thou
jeyo works by me too, with some error messages :-/
so no OTHER solution?
is it the only one?
I though WM was the OS of choices (and it is, the last sever years I use it)
btw, I don't think Jeyo maintain their programs any more (just visit their forum and see)
